Thread: Top 5?
Someone owes us an apology, and I don't mean Raven. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am sick of being ignored.

I agree J. I dropped dancing yesterday. I hope that by the time I come to pick the skill back up in a few months the devs might have responded to our first Top 5, but I doubt it. Raven has been doing a kick-butt job, sadly the devs have really let him down IMO.
There is a list... But I don't think I was ever posted on the Entertainer forum in it's final state. After trying a number of searches, I finally cheated and did a search based on words from the list. The only message I found that related to the issues was the thread Top Five Profession Issues You'd Like Addressed by slick. His first post lists 2 issues that he was definately including, then asked people what the other 3 were to be, giving his choices. The official list in the end was those 5 issues covered in his post.
Here's the list that was submitted, unedited.
- Falling down - We hates it, my preciousssss.
- More music, dances, and instruments.
- Better (more fun) better paying missions
- Master entertainer needs something non-musician / Master Entertainer - The rewards are unbalanced in that the musician rewards are so much more desirable than the ID and Dancer rewards that nearly all Master Entertainers are Musicians as their "primary profession".
- Working group commands. / afk more than 20 minutes = XP penalty
There was a response. However, like the dancer issues, there is still some debate about the responses. Unfortunately, about the time the responses were to be posted to the forums was about the time Slick announced he was quitting, so the ball was dropped. I'm not too eager to pick it up for the simple reason that those are mostly issues covered in the elite professions. In fact, 1 and 3 are covered by the dancer top 5 and 2, 3 and 5 are covered by the musician top 5. Only 4 has no coverage elsewhere, and I don't really think there is a good answer for that at the moment. The "working group commands" part of the fifth issue isn't covered, and there was no discussion on it. I can only guess it relates to /startband and /changeband bugs.
If you would like to see responses, I can start putting on pressure for a resolution. However, don't expect anything significantly different from what Ravenmist and NewJedi post/posted. The responses come from the same developers, after all.
If it was just a PR move to mollify the customers, then who bloody cares.
What do you think they're going to do with the lists?
- J
I really couldn't answer that. All I can tell you is to do my job here I have to work off the assumption that it does make a difference. If it is all just PR, then there is no point to me being here.
What has Ravenmist done? Seriously? I gather that there is some posting being done on the correspondents forum but where are the results? Has a red name posted in here that I missed? Has Raven been actively asking for input and starting discussions here lately? Maybe it's time to pass the torch to someone else for a while to get some rowdier discussion happening, because I see jack and **edit** here right now.
pikelesSW,
I agree completly, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the apology, but I do agree![]()
Niza, would you rather a correspondent that just passed on the words of the devs, taking a list of "We'll look into it" and "It's working as intended" and posting that, or would you rather a correspondent that will stand up and get real answers?
It's like the old adage says... Be careful what you ask for.

I think we've been patient, and I'm not going to blame Raven for this as I'm sure he's been pestering TH nonstop to get us answers, but enough is enough. It's been over a MONTH since they began to answer top 5's from the other professions. I like to try to remain optimistic about things, but at this point I really do have to wonder if they care at all about us with everything that's going on...and now this. The other professions are having fruitful discussions that devs are even responding to, and we've yet to have a single response at all.

I know what you mean Pickles and I'm really getting sick of it too. I've been posting or PMing him every day. I'm starting to get disgusted with it all.. the whole process is just ridiculous. All I can say is I'm sorry its taking so long and they sure as heck better have some good answers for us after making us wait so long.
Niza- What exactly are you thinking I should be doing that I'm not? What grand discussion or work do you think I should be doing or starting that hasn't been done already? I mean seriously, its not like we have any new issues that we didn't have a month ago. Maybe you associate pointless repetitive discussions and topics with work but I don't. When we get this list of answers on our current top 5 back then we'll have something worth discussing. We'll be discussing what we think of the answers first off, what direction we want to take and what issues we want to push next. I may be here to work for you all but I'm not going to just keep sweeping the same pile of dust around, theres just no point.
I know your all getting impatient and upset about the delay, and you darn well should be. You all have good reason to be upset, I know I sure as heck am. Lets not take this out on each other tho.

I'd rather see a correspondent that was actively encouraging discussion, actively posting serious discussions about the state of the profession.

If you aren't interested in fostering new discussions about these same issues let someone else do it for a while then. The last time you asked for "issues" from the community was in November. I'm not saying that anything new has popped up but don't you think that you should at least go through the motions at least once a month? Of course they don't see our isses as a pressing concern because we aren't even discussing them on this forum. The "wait for something to happen" approach is obvioiusly not working.
