The only way to get up from KD is to use KD recovery. I don't think dizzy has an effect on KD anymore given the recovery.

btw, just before they announced the CU was going live in a day or so, I was soloing groups of NS on TC3. Highest I could get to were Rancor Tamers, level 75 and had no issue demolishing them by myself, two at a time. I had the template in my sig.

My [buff, armored] health scarcely moved throughout the fight. My action got a bit low though. The point is solo play is still quite possible. People need to stop being idiots about the CU.

On the topic of pikeman tanking, I still have major problems holding aggro. No amount of taunting or posture changes can keep a mob on me if my gunmonkey groupmate is doing more damage. The ranged fighter needs to root the mob at me for me to even keep it in my own range, which makes me wonder why I'm even there. Fencer at least has a snare attack, but tanking as a pure pikeman is near impossible.

It's hard to be a tank if everything ignores you. The ability to draw and keep aggro is critical to success, and the hate system is making it unnecessarily difficult.

And warcry still doesn't work

By the way guys.. I went over to Fort Tusken last night on TC. Everything there is lvl 30-33. I was able to EASILY tank big groups of Tuskens as a Pikeman/Swordsman with no medic skills. Tested intimidate, tested warcry, tested armor.. Intimidate seems to work well, so does armor but I still found I was doing okay without it. Armor seems to absorb a small percentage of damage.. its my opinion armor is really only necessary for long, extended battles against very large groups where that small percentage has a chance to add up. I'm not 100% sure Warcry is working, but then I can't peace anymore right after a successful Warcry so its hard to do without hitting them once or twice afterwards.

Only times I ran into health problems was against large mobs of Tuskens.. like 10 or more at a time. But even then, making sure I'm wearing armor, cycling Center of Being and using my best weapons I was still usually able to stave them off.

BTW, this was solo.

Went out hunting with my guild today on Tarquinas.

My Template is Master Pikeman/TKM/Master Brawler/ Novice Fencer/ FS Melee Def/ 2010 Medic

At first I was confused as crap, but after awhile I started to get used to it. I find that taking advangtage of my TKM skills by not wearing armor leaves me better off vs most common dantooine spawns (pikets, voritors, quenkers)

The key really is to make sure you land a lot of stat effect, and use CoB, I also used Reposte, which seemed to help. I could solo any of the above mobs 1 on 1, and did decent as a tank in a group of 6-8.

My only real complaint is that I wish I could hold agro better. The mobs kept running for the ranged guys.

From my Experience in the CU so far, Pikeman is worth about as much as a Swordsman def-wise in pve.

Center of Beingmakes a noticeable difference (yea yea, its not a pikeman move...)

Pick up TKM/Master Pikes/Doc 4000 for a day with your respec points and let me know how effective you find it. Its currently my favorite tanker template. This morning I was doing a little bit of solo hunting and accidentally got in a pinch where I had to tank 3 creatures of my level at once. I managed totriumph with somelifesaving CoB's, Bacta Infusions, Intims, Sweeps, and of course brandy and pixie.

I presume some ranged professions could handle this situation better though, due to broken root specials, but thats another story. For me, the template above is the right mix of offense and defense.

Im master pike/tka too (with medic 0040), mobs at same lvl are easy. What i do is: Warcry, intimidate,KD,CoB and spam till one state wears off, then re-apply. When CoB ends, do a KD and CoB again. Im wearing no armour (TKA initiate armour). When your action drain drains too much, just switch to unarmed

CoB comes from brawler 1xxx or x2xx or xx3x or xxx1. So it's any brawler's move Did anyone else notice that?

Was At the DWB last night as lvl 58 Master Pikeman and 3 Boxes in TKA 0030. All I was good for was KD. The Guy with Master Defender was the TANK. And as long as we kept the SBD's off the 2 CM's and All attacked the Same Target we were Fine. They attakced teh same target I KD Everything in a 6 Meter Radious and we went as far as I have ever Gone into the DWB. I was Still not Dealing Any Damage Though.
