Thread: Why are we Stickpeople suddenly FOTM? Am I missing something?

I only made Pikeman about three days ago. It was the last of the melee professions I mastered and not by choice. That said, this will be my combat profession while I master Ranger and CH so I will keep it for quite a while.
I think I prepped myself quite well for the profession - hoarding speedtapes I came across and buying up very good VLAs and VLs.
But for all that, Master Pikes is - I blush to say - a second string area combat profession beside Heavy Swordsman. Our Dizzies and our Knockdowns are only equal to Swords' Dizzies and Posture Changes, they do more damage, faster and we don't have their Mind Attacks, I won't even compare our defences to theirs.
So why are we suddenly FOTM? Am I missing something?

Yes... I chose pikeman because I liked the proffession. Its very annoying being called a mini-CM.
Give me DoTs first, then call me a mini cm.

i just chose pikeman today, cus in all honesty, hitting things with really big, fancy sticks is something i just love doing, whether it be a game or outside. plus i was tired of ony have 2/10 working specials in pistoleer. and....then i found out that i couldnt wield 2 pistols. to me, the fact im entering a proffesion with really hard hitting sticks with DOTs on them is just an added bonus.

Pikeman was my intended first profession a year ago, having put it off for so long until a couple months ago. I am seeing a growing number of players carrying the pikeman title or weapon, but the past couple days I'm beginning to think the new BH change is going to be the FOTM (for a while at least) and have seen tons of people carrying laser carbines and dueling each other spamming fire knockdown and underhand shots.
I don't use DOT weaps except when fighting high end stuff in PVE so it can help drain the mind faster and I use headhit3 with a powerhammer.

DOT weapons are the FOTM as well as CM. Pikeman took a hit with the weapon delay, but for the best.
Plus they might be preping for the combat balance, apparently Pikeman are supposed to be the Tanks of the new combat system.

not to mention, from what ive been told anyways, is that pikeman will be the new tanks after the combat rebalance. People might be preparing for that

I have a feeling after the patch on TC goes live, our FOTM will be gone.

On Intrepid(where I am from) Pikemen are still really rare. But my buddy(Mazdamundi) and I went pikeman for a couple reasons;
A) It looks cool.
B) No one is a Pikeman.
C) It looks cool!

Gregorious I've been training tons of pikes on Intrepid, stop by Bestine sometime and check out all the sticks walking around, It is amazing!

To be completely honest, I chose Pikeman because everyone else on Bria is a Master Swordsman
