Thread: sick of being called unskillfull?

ok its gotten to the point to where i think it needs to be discussed on the forums, and i beleive all pikeman should have a word in this because i think we all get blamed for this at one point in time if you pvp at all using dots. sooooo many times i've been called 'unskillful' or 'untalented' for using dots in pvp.simple fact is, most people disagree with dot use in pvp because they a: are peer presured to beleive its bad by the majority of the communityb: cantlootdot weaps themselfs c:get beat to often by it.So whats the first thing that happens after i kill someone with dots? i get a /tell saying "your so untalented, howabout not using any dots, wawaaawaaaa". usually i dont answer and just do an /addignore for their ignorance. if i had to write a formal statement to all those who wish to have an answer, it would go something like this: first off the ONLY difference between your fighting and mine is the fact that i'm holding a dot stick whereas your holding a weap that does straight damage. i still have to do all the different moves to keep the opponent well stated just like everyone else. hell i cant even spam hit3 once your on the ground and dizzy because it would make you stand up instantly. pikeman is a proffesion that doesn't do stun damage (obviously), a pikeman can only do 3 damage types each of which are very common to be 80 percent or higher risist in most armor and only one of which is higher then ap1. even with a 900+ lva, only about 40 pnts or less gets through to all melee profs because of mitigation and the extremely low min dmg on all looted lva's.does it make sense to use a kinetic weap in pvp when you can use dots which ignores armor all together? i can garuantee that if all i did was let a healing macro run and just stand there your template would win hands down... i guess what i'm saying is please think before you start spouting your mouth off about the 'talent' of the dot player that just beat you in a fight, either you wait for the combat rebalence to finalize, or you take the old line "if you cant beat em, join em" to heart.I think its also important to say that any smart player using good tactics has a very fair chance of beating someone using dot's

i would like to keep this thread about the talent of dot users,rather than the moraltyof dot use

you dont even need to be pikeman to use all those dots, many come frmo ns lances so a fencer can become even more uber in pvp by startin with ns lance poison/fire then equippin stun baton

Just need to learn how to ignore those people. They are bitching because they are mad they need doctor to be a prominent pvp'er (at least on my/film's server). Just laugh at them, let them know they are noobs and dots are pvp, if they dont like them they can get doc.

it is my understanding that dots no-longer will stick if you are not certified with the weapon. i beleive ns lances are certified @ polearm 3 though, so it wouldnt take that many skill pnts anyway.

My template is Master Swords/ pike 4-0-0-4 ( for speed and accuracy) and fencer 4-4-4-0 master brawler/tkm 2-0-0-0
I have mind fire, action fire and healh fire pikes all at strength 300, When people whine to me, i look at them, look at thier black bars, and give them a rose, When i stack 300 mind poisen and 300 mind fire it hits for rougly 700-900 including wounds, boo hoo to everyone that whines and god bless the pikeman.

nope ns lance is polearm 2, and if that fencer finds uber dot lva they only need 3. ANd VL only takes nov. If u guys think pike is all bout dot in pvp,they should have a pike for master only that has a much stronger dot then other pikes would

one way to fix the Dot usage.
Burn Composite Armor.
Nerf buffs.
weaken Dots. = Fun

There's no "talent of DoT users" to talk about, DoT use and skill have nothing to do with each other. Many very skilled players use them, and many totally unskilled players do as well. Obviously using a DoT weapon doesn't make you unskillfull, but nor do they actually require any skill to use.
People who send tells complaining after being beaten in a fight probably just shouldn't be PvPing in the first place. If they weren't complaining about DoTs they'd be complaining about whatever other way you used to kill them. If they are in fact beaten by an unskillful player with DoTs, that's just the risk you accept when PvPing in this system.

Whenever I get that crap I just tell the people that due to armor/mitigation/synthsteak/psgs/defenses DOTs are one of the most effective ways to do damage. If they arn't willing to start using them or take up doc 4040 then they are gonna get burned (literally). IMO the dude left standing after a battle is the more skillful one. Is it more skillful to spam headshot3 til the other guy falls?

. DoT is Pikeman's lifeblood, without it, its incredibly hard to be competitive in PvP. Pikeman without DoT, is Rifleman without Head Shot, Swordsman without Head Hit; Fencer without Stun Baton. Tell them to pick up Doc 3400, and if they say "Oh 1 C4n7 574cK t3H Ub3R d3f3nce" well thats a personal template problem isn't it. If you don't have the SP to get Doctor, PvP with a Doctor friend. Simple.
Don't let them get to you, you're just using your strengths as a advantage.

Agree with annelid0, using dot pikes require the skill of a retarded monkey to use. There is no skill or knowledge required to loot or buy a fire or poison pike and hit someone with it then run around while they burn or drain. Thats not to say the person using it is unskilled, even though from my experience a good percentage of them are.
And the best way to fix dot useage is to remove them completely. That way all the fotm "l33t kiddies" can crawl back to rifleman or whatever the next fotm is so we can finally have a day without the answer to "anyone have any pike tips" is always "omg get a l33t0r fire pike d00d".

I once got told I was a 'skillless dot whore' by someone laying at my feet after they'd shot me in the head rereatedly with a dxr6-b with a 197 tick mind poison on it... That made me giggle somewhat.
You can get dot weapons for all classes - you just have to know where to look. Nightsisters drop pikes most often, and Nightsisters are farmed most often. Therefore pike dots are more common. Just last night I looted 4 dot gaffis and a Geo pistol with a 212 healthfire on it in the space of an hour... The stuff's out there - people are just too lazy to look for it so they takeitout on us. Heh.

even with polearm 3 or novice pike i think a fencer with some of the dots would have a tough time vs a master pike due to the fact that the accuracy and speed at that lvl is absolutely horrible.Duel a doc and he'll just end up healingit faster then you can land it, let alone switching back to fencer to deal damage while the dots running.
