I am referring to the fact that every time Gunman21 (or anybody else for that matter) brings up the fact that all other melee professions get a x4 multiplier to their best attack, you point out that he(they) should be careful what they ask for, or in other words, they need to also look at the fact that the delay is only x2.5. Okay then, let's look at it. Shall we? Let's use an average (unsliced) LVA 4.4s 106-376


First we'll look at how it is currently: Hit3 x3 damage with x2.5 delay


Average DPS of the above weapon:

106+376 = 483/2 = 242 x1.85(profession) = 448 average


At x3 damage mod that is 1344. Ok so far, now let's calculate the speed mod


Weapon Speed 4.4 -75%(master speed mod) = 1.1s x2.5s delay = 2.75s


So now let's apply this to a fight lasting 2 minutes


120s / 2.75s = 43 attacks x1344 = 57,792 average damage done in 2 minutes


Now let's look at the same scenario with a x4 damage mod and a x3 delay mod (same as Swordsman)


448 x4 = 1792

1.1s x3s = 3.3s


120 / 3.3 = 36 attacks x1792 = 64,512 damage done in 2 minutes (using same weapon)


As you can see Pikemen would be doing an overall 11.6% more damage-and at a slower speed too. That would calculate out to a lower H/A/M drain over time. Because instead of swinging that big stick 43 times you only had to swing it 36 times! Whoda thunkit?!


Seriously though, my point here is that Pikemen would benefit from having a x4 damage multiplier, even if their delay mod was changed to x3 like Swordsman. So to StGabriel who warns that asking to have the damage mod changed would likely mean having the delay mod changed as well, I say fine let them changeboth. It would still be a marked improvement on the current situation.

one of the biggest problems for pikemen until they get their stats right is the heavy mind cost on specials. Reducing the amount of times that is needed to use these specials will greatly improve the pikeman profession.

pikeman isn't supposed to out damage swordsman.


Damage is ALL swordsman have. they need to literally outclass everyone in that feild. If we do more damage or close the gap so that the damage that they do, more than us, would make their proffesion ununique too. And we know better than anyone, that we shouldn't wish that on anybody.


Pikeman's job shouldn't be damage. We should be well off in it... But not the first thing you think of when you think pikeman.


If you want damage, THEN be a swordsman....speed., be a fencer, area attacks pikeman...everything all roled into one TKA.

I support it, because right now we dont stand out in anything, and I dont think Pikemans role is to be mediocre at most things and bad at the rest.

Ahh, but Swordsman will still out-damage Pikemen due to their superior damage weapons. There really is no disputing the damage a Swordsman can do. If you have ever been one, even a novice, you know what I mean.

I have a friend that isnt even novice swordsman yet, he and I decided to find out who could drop a mottled wrix the fastest. I found a spawn with two, he killed his before i got 2 hits it. And they say when you master a profesion you will be god....

The delay mod on Swordsmen Hit 3 is 3.25.

Has this changed recently? Because I did some pretty extensive testing of Swordsman damage/delay mods of my own about a month ago and I can assure you it was a x3 delay mod. Just as it is currently stated on so many websites.


Where do you get yourx3.25 delay modfrom? Personal testing or some sort of inside developer information?


BTW - I have been a correspondent myself in the past. Not that that holds any clout in SWG.
