Ok I was strolling the swordsman forum and there dev guy or whatever is giving them a new hack! Plus there complaining bout swordsman sucking and lack of weapons! And they said pikeman was even better than them and needed less fixing so yea...

The only advantage swordsmen have is their choice of weapons, which is what makes them seem more powerful. Everyone can complain about each and every professions weaknesses, but you can't have strengths without them.

Someone (can't remember who) already posted in another thread, why not change some crafted weapons (like staffs) to have modifiers against defence. Personally I think this would address a lot of issues and combining it with more weapon choices (with different strengths and weaknesses) I think a lot of people would be happy.

Then all the Devs have to concentrate on is fixing the real bugs with professions (ie. things not working as intended) instead of worrying about upsetting the balance.

And universally better damage multipliers... and targeted hits to the mind pool... and the second highest melee toughness... and counterattack avoiding 100% damage.. and blast damage...

Devs have already stated mind damage is being dropped.


Swordsman have the lowest defences.


Blast damage is a weapon issue and can easily be addressed by adding more contact (this is not fixing).


Agree, we should also get x4 mods like everyone else. Some say this has been stealth fixed anyways, some tests have proven it, but still no official statement. Would be nice to know for sure.

I heard Mind damage was 'no longer going to be the decisive pool' or something to that effect- not that it was being dropped. That'd 'kinda hurt' Riflemen and Swordsmen, wouldn't it?

the only thing that could have been fixed was hit 3


other mods have to be the same

Yeah and from what I've seen they are complaining about it. They will be just like everyone else, randomly hitting all pools. Hence dropping the mind attack specials!!!


Silly being able to hit a pool which cann't be healed (bar blue milk, is you have enough stomach) anyway. Same as not having any armour that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to defend against stun.

Do you have a link to where this is? I find it odd that Mind damage would be taken out, because I can almost guarantee there is no way they will take away Fencers'/Pistoleers' Health-specific and Pikemen's/Carbineers' Action-specific specials. My guess is that Mind will simply become healable or something equally nonsensical.

Hmmm.....so their targeted attacks, and AREA ATTACKS are stronger than ours with stronger, less resisted weapons?

Exactly where do the devs state that mind damage is being dropped? I've heard it said before, and I know the devs have said they want to make it less important (i.e. not be the only worthwhile pool to attack), but I've never seen anything about it being dropped as a targetable pool.

Swordsmen by no means have the lowest defenses. No idea where you ever got that impression, since the role of worst defensive class is firmly held by pikemen. A master pikeman has 26 toughness, a novice swordsman has 35. They have a 100% damage avoiding counterattack, we have a 50% damage avoiding block. We have slightly better state defenses, but those count for virtually nothing since it's the damage that kills us, not the states.

I honestly don't understand this defense of swordsmen. I play one myself on another account and it's painfully obvious that they're superior to pikemen in both offense and defense. That's partially due to weapons, but if a swordsman could use an LVA they'd still easily outdamage a pikeman and retain better defenses. I'm not saying they have no problems, but theirs are insignificant compared to ours.

No, I can't remember the dev link. It was one of the publish notices, maybe the combat pass one before it becameworthless.Anyway, just check out the rifleman and swordsman forums and you'll soon find a tread bringing it up. Think one place I noticed it beingbrought upwas in the one this thread probably started from.


I kind of assume their specials will be moved to either actionor health, as nothing has ever been said about changing either of those two.

I'd agree with this if I knew what my job as a pikeman is...it seems like we should be really good at something, but what that is escapes me.

plus I think that if you excel at damage dealing, then you should not be good defensively. So if swordsman would have the best damage then they should have the worst defense. Unfortunately, this is not how it works right now, since I believe TKM have the best of both worlds. Swords probably has decent damage and decent defense. Fencer at least is somewhat balanced, they have excellent defense and not as good offense, although you could argue they have excellent offense since they have a stun weapon, but that is the fault of the armor system, not the Fencer profession. Unfortunately Pikeman have less then steller damage dealing and crappy defenses, hinting that we should be the profession that dies the most looking for looted weapons I guess
