From the dev team:

"Weapons with DOTs on them will have their base damage increased based on the type and strength of DOT property prior to conversion. However, one of our goals is to take super weapons and bring them back closer in line with what will be considered acceptable ranges. Themost powerfulweapons in the game prior to conversion will still be some of themost powerfulweapons afterward"

Gunman, some of the "uberest" DoT weapons have HORRIBLE damage on them. If they increase it, won't it just bring the weapons in line with normal crafted ones that are easily obtainable?

if they are that incredibly uber than it should make them better than normal weapons, if not, suck it up.

really nothing else to say about your credits. You took a chance at buying DOT's...not the Weapon.

What a line. If SWG has never nerf'd dot's, taken away a uber dot or stopped them from dropping then how do you get risk? If you associate Risk with being at the whim of someone else then I suppose your definition is correct.

I'm just happy you're not in politics

Investment in any item comes with risk....That includes real life. It has nothing to do with politics. Purchasing an item only for the DOT associated with it and not the actual weapon itself is the risk you take when investing millions of credits into an item.

Lots of people bought DoTs that were infinite-use. Those were changed. Now they're just all changed.

last time i checked, (post CU) the dots on pikeman weapons ARE part of the weapon...so your point is pointless

Who cares about using DoTs, you should only worry about them being applied to you. If you spent millions on DoT weapons at this stage of the game for pikeman, it only shows your ignorance as to what a Pikeman truely is/should be.

You buy a house, you're taking a risk that it won't get hit by a tornado, or blown down by a hurricane, or catch on fire.

You buy a car, you're taking a risk that you won't fall asleep while driving, or some drunk moron won't plow into you, or that someone won't steal it.

You buy ANYTHING in an MMOG, and you're taking a risk that someday the devs will do something to change it and make it not so valuable. Doesn't matter if its a DoT lance or something that was considered a valuable rare item that the devs woke up some day and decided everyone on the server should have 20 of.

In essence, no matter what you invest your money in, you are accepting risk.

More than that though, it's not like the uber-DoTs were money flushed down the toilet. You still get to be a mini-CM until the CU goes live, and all DoT weapons wear out eventually anyway. Instead of wearing out after a long time and becoming useless they'll wear out immediately and become better weapons. They could have just stripped the DoTs and given you nothing, to me this seems like a pretty sweet deal.

And in all honesty, who didn't see this coming? Caveat emptor.
