Thread: We demand equality!

I just got my Master Polearm... but I'm thinking about disbanding the whole profession... I was going for pikeman, but it just doesn't seem worth it... none of the melee professions do. The ranged weapons are a lot better.

I think the devs should implement a much higher 'toughness' bonus... like a 25% resistance to blaster shots.

What do you guys think?

If you do decide to surrender your skill points, do it when you need to. There's no sense in giving up on the hard work you've put in right away when you're probably not in dire need of skill points. But, when you do need skill points, just give back your polearm skills. If you do decide to do it later, you've lost nothing in between, but if you give them up now, and decide later that you want them, you've lost a lot of work.

I just don't understand why the Pikeman Profession doesn't have any new weapon certs. Does it make sence that a Polearm specialist and a Master Pikeman gets to use the same weapon? The Master Pikeman should be able to weild something cool to show off his acheivement.

p.s. I wasn't going to do Polearm at all but when I got the ability to make a Wood Staff I decided to give it a try, and it was so-so but when I got Advanced Polearm I started whacking for twice the damge than with my Carbine, sure I was using a Reinfoced Staff, but I love running around with such a meancing weapon, instead of the stupid blasters.

We definately need blaster resitance... every melee class would get creamed if we had PvP against a ranged... And its stupid ecuase all they can do is out run us and look back and shoot, and we cant ctach them since we run at the same speed. Either melee gets armor only avialable to melee people, or we get fast enough to out run, or ctach up to, enemies... we usaully take all the damage again AI, and they always stick on us until we are incapped or dead... I mean, what are we supposed to do with a krayt dragon, we're the first to die no matter what, since we're attacking AND the closest... total bs there....

I don't think it will ever be "equal". Here's what it says in the manual that comes with the game...

"Combat in Star Wars Galaxies relies heavily on the use of ranged weapons... the simple fact that you can hit your target from a distance gives ranged combat a significant advantage over melee combat... also, when fleeing an enemy with a ranged weapon, you can continue to attack."

I agree ... I think there are better rewards out there than just doing the most damage - it's a very complex and intricate RPG - develop your character - HAVE FUN!

I don't know if it's a big difference. But if you pick up the ranged weapons support you get a little bit of ranged defense mod. I thought about it, but opted to save those skill points for something else, since I'm not much of a PVP'er. I'll probably pick a side in the galactive war, but I'll be covert.

At novice pikeman, you get the vibro lance. Before that your best weapon is the long vibro axe.

The funny thing is that the axe is at master weaponsmith and the lance is at melee 4.

I totaly agree with raditz, I just love the being a pikewoman ;D, and when you fight agains ranged weapons you gotta use your brain a little.

Ranged weapons do have good advantages, and they do well in the hands of a skilled fighter, but if you come close to me I'll tear ya up.

Polearms are fantastic IMO, and I wish there was a million more diffrent variations of them, and perhaps one you gotta have master to get certificate for. (maybe there are some new ones by now....I've been taking a break for a few months, so I'm excited about getting back to my weapons...though there doesn't seem to be any changes to the polearm profession by the patch notes.)
