Pikeman Archive

Of the people I see on Bloodfin, I usually see about25% Imperial "Assassins" (riflemen),33% Teras Kasi, 33% Pikemen, and the remaining are Fencers or Bountyhunters with a lesser mix of other various professions.

At the time I mastered Pikeman, it was last December (2nd prof's before unlocking Jedi). Well, I honestly wasn't all too impressed compared to Swordsman.

I know alot has changed since then, but please enlighten me as to why there is such a large % of people whom are pikeman now. Is it becaus of the weapon DOT's? Specials? Defensive abilities?

I would say that its 75% DOT:s (since PvP is pretty much DOT based) 10% pike lovers, 5% who think the animations are cool and 10% whos trying it out.

I'm pretty much a bit of everything i love the anims, electricity damage is awesome, able to stick high quality DOTs, big powerful LVAs.

Sadly were the FOTM because our DoT weapons are garunteed to drop.

Originally because of the dots but I'm really into the weapons and the amazing specials with their ani's now. Of course I still use dots but I find myself with a looted 900 dmg lva more often than before. And being able to showoff my nsel collection wtih specials is cool too

i love pike and its animations, i was one before the DOTS, i have been a pikeman for so long, when i first started to work on it, w/out buffs, the first time, i was told to buy tattoine sunburns tofight with, man, i wish i still had a few to show off..............................

i just mastered... area dizzy / kd appealed to me, only melee prof i hadn't mastered so i figured I should... the dots are nice, plus i like the titles

there really arent that many pikeman, well serious pikemen anyways...i went pike originally because no one except mesk and oryon were pikeman and thought it looked pretty damn cool/uber. That was like 6 months ago, i dropped pike after the weapon switch but didnt quit like some people did, i eventually picked pikeman back up...its defenately the coolest profession out there imo.

Because at this stage of the game with so many Jedi running around, pikeman is a viable template because Jedi have a lack of melee defense and mitigation......

However in standard PVP pikeman is predominately there becuase of DOTs. SOE's answer to the DOT weapons seems to be breaking the spawn cycle on Dathomir unitl the combat balance.

Also with the melee speed tree Pikeman is very easy to cap the speed.

Pikeman imo was initially deisgned to be the melee class with the lowest defenses and medium to strong attacks.... and fast.... much like a carbineer is (sub machine lazers) However due to borked speed calculations of the game, pikeman isnt fast with just Master Pikeman. We are the melee crowd controllers...... unfortunately these days we are the melee crowd controllers not with damage but with DOTs.

I am proud to say I was a pikeman before the DOT craze, however I cant be successful vs. a fencer without DOTs. As the -45 range modifers make it so I can barely ever hit a fencer..... which would be ok if I did more damage to them, however because of armour, food, toughness and mitigation they turn my 1150 LVA into a Wooden Staff.
