Thread: Pikeman vs. Swordsman for PVE

I'm wondering how a speed capped Pikeman stacks up against a speed capped Swordsman for PVE, primarily against krayts, NS, etc. Who will outdamage, the swordsman with the uber acklay hammer or the pikeman with the uber NS drop LVA?

Depends how uber is uber. If they have identical stats - outdamaging on a krayt is purely skill/luck. On NS, with the exception of the elder which pikeman cannot damage without an NSEL, its the same deal as a krayt.

he trumps you against elders, you trump him against the acklay. so essentially, they control your uber weapons, you control them.

swordsman's hit3 is a 5x mod whilst pikeman hit 3 is a 4x mod. swordsman will beat you when it comes down to it unless your pike is significantly better.

Just look at the mobs you really want to hunt, and then base your template around that. I was Master Pike, Master Sword, but I don't even bother with Elders, so dropped swords and took up TK for defences

It used to be, but (luckily) they changed it to a 4x.

Swordsman 2h hit 3 is a 4x dmg mod, Rifleman adv strifing shot is a 5x, and Smuggler last ditch is a 6x mod. But still what would you consider an uber LVA, and a uber Acklay PH. Some acklay PH's can get up around 1100 dmg and up depending on the bones used, and if they get a perfect slice and a 16% PU. I don't claim to know much about pikes but a swordsman with a uber acklay PH can do insane ammounts of dmg.

Swordsmen, ~90% of the time.

The thing I think about is team hunting, ie. with a ranged friend. The duo of a Swordsman/Rifleman is easily going to mop up a Pikeman/Carbineer team, damage wise.
