First off I am a wookie. I know... bad move.

Aside from not having armor and getting my butt handed to me on a regular basis I have finally gotten to group up with a buddy and do some hunting.

Now here's where I need help in understanding something...

When we hunt he would send in his pet, let it obtain agro for a second or two and then would would commense on the beatdown of the creature. The creature would always stay on the pet, no questions asked.

But NOW... I pick up Pikeman and NO MATTER WHAT the creature will attack me and only me.

I will stand right next to the creature and watch, yes WATCH my buddy and his pet fight a creature and not once will my buddy get hit cause it stays on the pet. But as soon as I enter the fight and attack it once... BAM it starts attacking me and leaves them alone... WHY????

I can't even fight in groups now! I am standing in cities wondering what to do cause no matter who or how many I am with the creatures all attack me. I can't survive these fights being a weakling... I mean wookie. No armor is killing me badly, but I have never seen a creature do what they are doing to me, to just up and switch to me like this ALL THE TIME!

I need to know what to do so I can again play and fight things and hang out with friends.

Anyone know what I can do? Or why these creatures do this?

Thank you all

Maybe you just need to shampoo more often.

Really, though, are you standing too close, maybe? You really have to be a little behind the creature to avoid the aggro the best. Other than that, I don't know.

Standing further away may help, like Antares said. Also you can try not using specials, they tend to draw agro.

One thing you can do if you get agro is to try warcry and peace so it will agro onto the pet once more, then start attacking it again from a little further back.

If none of those work, look up another pikeman or melee class to hunt with. If you were on Intrepid you could have looked me up, I like being a tank. Good luck, hopefully wookie armor will be coming out soon

Well, I have quit using specials... creatures don't like them

My partner is a Novice Fencer, so I have a melee guy with me...

I normally use a /stick macro I made which keeps me about 3m from the creature.

I can try the warcry/peace thing today... I'll see what it does.

Thanks

It's probably your /stick macro. You really need to be *behind* the creature. I'm not sure about specials making a difference, I have not noticed this at all, plus, you can be even further if you use specials than you can for auto-attack.

Yea, that really hurts. Especially when you start picking up the high end weapons. Generally when I'm grouped and hunting I work with my carb untill I see things start going downhill then I jump in take all the aggro and play hero...at least b-4 I mind rape myself...Best bet is get ur self buffed and find a good PSG, don't use your specials as much and try to stay as far back as possible. If your dabbling in anyother proffessions use those ranged attacks b-4 closing in. When you do close in land an intimadate so your dmg taken will be a lil lower. There's many mixed opinions of whether or not CoB works, imo it does to a degree, so you might want to use that also, just be ready for the tax on ur mind pool. You might want to also look into some trapping skills to help with ending the fight quicker. Depending on your hunting partners skills, try to hit the same pools, again end the fight as quick as possible.

Other than that...get ur self medic.

Most specials do have a larger distance true, but in my experiance draws agro faster, though I am not sure about that with creature mobs, most of my testing was done against NPCs.

From the sound of it though the distance you are to the mob may be what is causing it. You could ask your friend to try the /stick macro you use and see if he gains agro(while you stay at least 6m away). Then you would know better. Hope that helps

Staying behind em will reduce aggro? Never really noticed, tested?

Staying behind tanks *always* reduces the potential to be attacked, to zero if you are careful. I've used this tactic since the beginning of the game. Although with the next publish, there is an increased chance that the target will ignore the creatures.
