Thread: Just how important is doc in your pikeman temp?
Thoughts?
EDIT: Oh, and advanced armor break is something I love....probably one of my favorites. That's why I can't decide.
EDIT: Ok, I did some more figuring. Maybe I could keep some of my favorite parts...

I do just fine using only stims, even fighting the big things like GDK's & Krayts, but then I mainly do PvE. The thing with Doc/CM is, when have them in your template you not only have the ability to heal, but also the need to do so. By not having Doc/CM you will have better defenses and better offense so yes you won't be able to heal, but then you also won't need it as much. Both ways are very viable, it's just a matter of preference if you add a healing profession or not. There's a lot of misconception around because most people who have healing in their template can't imagine not having it and still being able to survive. It just takes a bit more skill and timing to keep your defenses up, your opponent debuffed and popping that stim at the exact right moment, instead of pressing your heal button every time you get low on health while continuing to spam critical strike or whichever attack your using.
For PvP it's an entirely different story, you can't survive PvP without healing.

This allows me to keep the moves I want, increase my speed/accuracy/defense, and still harvest creature resources.
I'll be ok with stims and ruby bliel.
very true. i don't pvp, purely pve, but i've seen this firsthand in the last week. i only just reactivated my master pikechick so she's still in respec and i've been playing with different options. when i tried 4004 doc/m pike/some other melee i just wasn't as happy with it as i was with pure melee. even with the action buff, i ended up running out of action way more than when i had no medic (using the exact same weapons, pups, and armor), because i wasn't hitting as hard, and i was getting hit harder and having to heal and the battles just lasted longer.

Advanced healing was nice....but like someone said earlier your fights tend to last longer. With my current template (having the defense lines from both swords and fencer) my melee defense is 343 with ZERO food...and my ranged defense is like 283. After a couple pieces of food i can jack them up to 443 and 383....making me hard as hell to even hit.
Not to mention when i Adv. Armor Break someone and then smack them with my VL that hits for 710-1243 w/pup it really leaves a bad bruise.
Im all about the damage and the defense....if the fight gets me down to where im having to spam my stims and hope they activate it time....then the fights probably about to be over anyway.

Hi There,
I have master doc and master pike and I LOVE it. I wouldn't have it any other way now. Honestly, with the combat changes, I thought of changing. Now that I've played it more, I love it. I solo a lot, but have friends I group with. I used to really get bored grouping, but now it's really fun. I'm always active and we can seriously hunt nonstop now.
Just my two cents....
I'll say it again:
Doc 4-0-0-0 is vital for any melee template, same as CM 4-0-0-0 for any ranged template, and Healer 4-0-0-0 for any Jedi template.
That is the way the Devs designed the game post-CU apparantly. You need the healing skills to compete in PvP and PvE, regardless of being melee, ranged, or Jedi.
So you got no choice ... pick the skills up or suck ... unless you have your personal Doc/CM/Healer who follows you around 24/7.
