Yep you heard right and rush to your local dev tracker board for the new post of from TH. The Combat Upgarde ETA is less than a year. Yea though the combat has been promised to be fixed since launch we get to look forward to yet another year before it actually is.
Edit: When I made this original post I was quite upset but I have been encouraged by the recent Studio Update released by SOE_Tyrant. It appears by Tyrant that the sandbox will begin in January and so well some public dicussion about the CU. I applaud that and am now trying to patiently wait the month of January.

or we could push it now and let them fix it one bug at a time in live 
. seriously, i know that people have been waiting for it since launch, but they are ACTUALY WORKING ON IT aren’t they? this is not meant in any way to be a flame, and i have no issue with you, but i think that instead of complaining about the devs and how they never tell us what is going on, we should be grateful that they have given us a time-frame (as vague as it is) instead of having us hang in limbo for a full YEAR with no word.
well, /rant off. and yes, flame away

Yes, they're working on it and have been for a while. It's GOING to happen, and they've put a lot of effort into making it happen. This is a big change and it takes just a ton of time and coding to get it to work. We'll just have to be patient.

I'm simply frustrated out of mind as each day it seems a piece of SWG is taken away. There is no longer a Galatic Civil War. Really PVP is dea accept for Jedi VS BH and of course Jedi vs Mind Firs lances. It really leaves someon like me with a huge gap in his play. Oh I can get buffed up and go out but since I can't hit your mind with my pike I'm not going to last long unless I use that which I hate DOTs. PVE is absolutely terrible anymore, I can't seem to afford one of these uber 1K+ pdmg pikes and wouln't you know there's swordsmen at every good POI and spwan site withat uber powerhammer out. My hopes were in the CU and now I have to possibly wait yet another year for it. Anyway not to attack anything you said but I'm not sure that a time frame matters. TH originally said that combat would be fixced before the one year anniversary..... many other timeframes have been given as well and not kept smuggler revamps for example. I just don't believe that this statement would even truly limit this to a year. I figure it wil be out around June but thats a long time to wait atleast in my book.

How long should someone wait with patience before they have a legitiment reason to be frustrated?

I stopped waiting after one year already. When I hit space, I waved a happy goodbye to ground combat.

it wont ever happen. They will keep pushing it back, like they have in the past, and by the time its ready there will be noone to play it

yes, the wait will take forever, i have actualy dropped most of my template and started to hunt meat and loot for a couple of guild member to pass the time (along with some pvp of course).
but yea, it will be a long year

If you want to get Technical The Combat rebalence was prmosied over a year ago. the Combat Upgrade was just announced not to long ago.
