Thread: Mitigation, your thoughts?
Is is too weak? Too strong? Do you even notice a diffrence?
Also, please list any other problems that are pikeman related and introduced with today's patch.
Thanks guys
well actually its not that cool but it does help, although some mobs are now impossible (which is good for group play)
Heres a Question
When the hell do PIKEMEN get something
Not every Meele in the game?
Every Time they add something they add it to all Meele and the Balence stays the same.
Uber get more Uber And the Low ends are Still LOW ENDS.
Ask the Devs that Question !
Hard to say. I dont see any reduction in damage, but the MOBs have gotten a lot tougher. So, would I be taking less damage from the previous MOBs? Can't say. Am I taking less damage now? Wouldn't say so. I do notice the Tuskens all bleed the crap out of you, and dance around like master fencers now.
I f no one had ever mentioned damage mitigation, I would not know it was there.
My pike just got worse in PvP...

mitigation doesn't affect total damage. It affects the range of damage.
Head over to the pistoleer forums there is a great post about it there or you could just read the following.
You've got damagemitigation 2 which is a 40% reduction on the range of attacks.
Let's say a hypothetical weapon has a min damage of 100 and a max damage of 250. The spread between min and max is 150. What mitigation does is reduce that range. So with DM (damage mitigation) of 2 that range is reduced 40 %.
Here goes the math.
min damage = 100
max damage = 250
range = 250-100 = 150
40% of 150 is 60
60 is the new range of the weapon so this is added to the weapons min dmg rating to get a new max dmg.
100 + 60 = 160.
So with MD2 a weapon with a 100-250 spread now only has a damage range of 100-160.
With weapons with a great spread (laser rifles, FWG5's, lightsabers) you will see a big difference. You probably didn't see much of a difference because the creatures you were fighting didn't have that much of a spread.
havnt noticed much in pve, but pvp... *cries* well, my fav weapon is the basic lance for pvp and... its got a min damage of like thirty-something. i wanted to test it on a tkm..... my normal hits did 19-25 damage. um... i wanted to see if it was like this for swordsman so i had a swordsman duel me. his PH was doin like 100+ per normal hit and 350+ for hit2. oh yes and my hit3 on that tkm with 462 damage lvawas (after 6 consecutive misses? what?) 188, then 160-something, then he got bored and killed me in 3 hits. this mitigation thing is.... great.. ya that's all i can think of....
oh yes and if what atimes said is true... uuh isnt creatures max damage only like 20 more than its min (been a while since i was ch, but isnt it?)? so this would do near nothing?
sry if i sound a little bitter ![]()
Yep, I think the only place we're going to notice mitigation (for the worse) is in pvp, the devs stated that because most upper-level creatures have a low min-max difference, mitigation wouldn't be very visible in pve. The LVA and VL have large enough min-max differences that we get a sizeable reduction in damage output against other melee classes.

I still only have Mitigation 1 but i think it sums up to nothing since the mobs (npc) are using much more powerful moves. Last night a mauler nearly took my head if in one fell swoop.
I think it's really cool that thay use KD and stuff but I think something is out off balanec when thay hit you for 1.5k damage in one hit. Good thing I was buffed.
