Just dropping in here. Anyways, I'm quite the fanboy and have a star wars hyperspace supcription. In one of the videos, they describe a new weapon for Ep. III. Think the senate guards might use them. I believe they looked like pikes. So Lucas said it was basicly dumb to have lightsabers be able to cut through anything and block anything, so they have the laser sword.. the only thing that can block a lightsaber...
I just thought some of you might think it was neat...

Yea I saw that too. It's supposed to be a staff of some sort. Should be cool to see.

there is some kind of metal that kind block lightsabers, i cant remember the name right now........in KOTOR the sith had it made into their swords so they could block them.................. that would be good, but I mean......their is no way to like parry an attack, where the weapons clash.

The pikes Emperor Palpatine'sguards use, called Echani Pikes(also mentioned in KOTOR, you can actually get the weapon and use it)have a cortosis weave in the metal which can block lightsabers. In Republic Commando, General Grievous' bodyguards use some sort of pike weapon. I'm wondering if it's along the same lines.

man if there is a Emporers Royal Guard profession in swg even if its 5x harder to grind than jedi ID still do it!! then they well send my ass to somewhere and train me the art of echani

Would rather be an Emporer's RG than Jedi any day....as long as I get the armor and Force Pike......

This would be an awsome tree. i have heard that there are several new weapons to each proffesion coming in the next publish one of wich is the kashyykian or somthing like that lance. its a cool double sided sword and also in a later publish there are rumors of adding another tree after you master an elite skill

if anyone ever played Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi for playstation like i did way back in the day. Then you can unlock Princess Leia's outfit when she has on her Ubese Armor dressed up as a bounty hunter.
but her non-hand2hand weapon was a laser type staff thing it had a really long handle and on both ends were lasers (thinner looking than lightsabers) but the lasers were only about the length of one's shin and the handle was about 2x the length of the blades
it looked really d4mn cool though that would be a nice weapon also

nothing personally but this is one of my pet hates:
that stuffdoesnt block sabers, just when sabers touch it they turn off...so they cant hit u.
oh and yeah i like i like...would be nice to have an advantage over other professions due to pikeman haviong low damage and block, but the problem is people will just go pikeman, put dots on jedi, and stand there with this lance tanking them, with a defence stacker having this will be invunrable.

I think you are talking about Grievous' body guards from the new movie. In an issue of Star Wars insider they talked about those staffs. Apparently they will come apart in the middle and have a lightsabre between the two halves so they can block a jedi's attack. Seem's pretty cool in my opinion.
