"We feel that AFK macroers are not healthy for the game. We want it to stop as soon as we can...This was not what we intended..."

JustG posted this on the "In Development" forum. Can it be that the voice of the entertainment community is being heard? Finally? *sigh* If only this had happened before so many of the great entertainers on my servers moved on to the professions that were getting some love, and even worse quit the game.
However, this is one of those "Better Late than Never" situations. They've probably buoyed enough true entertainer's spirits with this post that these people will hang in for a little longer now. I can't wait to see how they intend to fix afk macroing.

Oh, and can I say to all those lamers out there: see, I told you so! The devs never meant for macroing to be taken so far!

Thank-you, Devs! I can't wait to see this implemented, and if you're looking for ideas on how such a fix could work there are plenty of ideas out here on the entertainers' boards.

Sorry . . . Ihad to check this out and read it with my own eyes . . . and yes thats what he said!

Maybe, just maybe, there is some hope. (Still, Lei being the the jaded cynic this game has made her, she will withhold judgement until changes have been implemented.)

Like Kirah said Liloman there is always a place for you here!

this makes me happy. i will be able to return to the cantinas again whichmakes me very happy.

and dont worry i am sure it was not the afk-tainers that made the devs change their thoughts. i mean we have been complainging for how long. Some dev or csr probably had a bad instance where they saw leveling of combat players - afk macroing.

i mean look at it this way. at this point in the game there is afk everything. afk healing, tumbling, entertaining, combat leveling, id-ing, surveying, spamming, and even afk bumming. I am positive it was not the fact that there is people that afk-entertain but that people were being afk doing other things the devs see as not good.

though i must say it doesnt matter who gets it to stop as long as it stops. this on top of sociable content in the future, i am glad i stayed.

I wonder how many people will hate musicians, dancers, or at least the profession if they make it non-afk able or something...

I'm sure it was the AFK combat that caught the devs attention. I suspect that the atrocious lag just outside of Coronet has more to do with all those combat/CH macros than it does with the number of people waiting on Buffs outside the starport. I'm looking forward to the new entertainer combat. I am so glad that I left combat for crafting and entertaining.

*laughs* Yes, I understand that this is probably the reason they are rethinking afk-ness, but there are two things that gave me a bit of hope that they may actually be thinking about entertainers, true these are probably justcoincidence, but they were enough for me to bringthis possible ray of hope to my friends here.

1st: This announcement comes only days after Thunderheart took a jaunt to the music forums to collect information directly from us.

2nd: JustG posted this right on the heals of GarVa's "State of the Game" which included information about various upcoming perks for us.

I realize these are cicumstantial at best, but like MusicalDina said, so long as they solve the problemofafk macrotainers, I don't care why.

Anyway, in this case, I prefer to tell myself that the sole reason why the Devs are looking at changing the afk macroing system is because they are finally paying attention to the last several month's of pleas from entertainment professionals.

(Oh, and for those of you who have been wondering...when I refer to "entertainment professionals" I do not meanpeople who have mastered entertainingprofessions, otherwise I would say "Masters of entertainment." Instead, I mean anyone who is in an entertainment profession and who actually cares enough about the job to remain at the keyboard actively entertaining.)

Well, I'm glad to see the devs say something about this. The AFK combat really has to be the last straw. But I'm worried that they don't have a plan for AFK entertaining other than eliminating Holocron-grinding. That would be a start, but not much of one. I've passed dozens along dozens of suggestions to them, many drawn from the stickie'd thread on AFK'ing here. Let's hope they listen.

As much as I hate to say it, I bet Hologrinding elimination is it for now. They'll probably wait and see if the kills the majority of the AFKers (which, by the number of times I've heard "D**n Holo" from an AFK entertainer, it just might.

hey now -- i just started a musician by cohoice on a secong acount-- In being i am part of this community now-

I have no problem with afkers -- my main character is a fighter. before hologrinding it was a chore to find an entertainer in even more populated cities -- now it never is.

taking away afk entertainers would be a loss and a shame.

If they do this i hope they remove vendors from non merchants ---- it hurts there class

let afk entertainers be... if in game macros are not allowed -- out of game 3rd party ones will be put in -- and with the way they are now adays they will be undetectable.

ahh im ready for flames -- its just all i see is a FEW players posting neg on this forum and entertainers about it..

Nice to see some help....

Before stopping AFK macrotainers why don't theyimprove game content forentertainers?

Also, what about AFK entertainers who aren't hologrinding but just making sure there is always someone in the cantina for the combat classes to heal their mind wounds / BF.
