Could someone post a link to this supposed article... I did a search for JustG in the 'in development' forum and came up with NOTHING that even closely looks like what is being said. Then did a search for all posts by JustG and still nothing relating to musicians and or entertainers and macros.

BUT, if you want a real post, there are plenty saying that macros that are IN GAME are ok. No 3rd party stuff, but in game macros are fine.

Knowledge Base says otherwise, guys

Well, of course MACROs are ok, this has never been in dispute to my knowledge. The probem is UNATTENDED macros, i.e. AFK macros.

That said, I don't have time right now to look for JustG's original post, and I'm surprised (and ofcoursesomewhat offended)you believe neither my post nor the others that say things to the effect of "wow, I didn't believe this so I looked at the original post and he really did say it. horray!" Anyway, here are some things you can look for to help spot JustG's post.

1. Make sure you're searching the "In Development" forum
2. Make sure you're searching for posts from JustG
3.JustG's works are many--try looking at the dates and find ones that are from the date of my posting (I posted while it was still fresh)
4. This is not buried at the bottom with the rest of the entertainer issues mentioned, instead, it is considered to be such an important issue, it is one of the FIRST things mentioned in the post.

Well, it turned out I had more time than I originally thought, so I did a search for this "elusive" post. Typed "JustG" into the author field, selected "In Development" in the forum menu...lo and behold...it came up with only THREE posts! AFHyper? In your extensive search of the Development forum, you couldn'tmanage sift through three posts one containing two lines, another containing about 6 lines and the third containing LOADS of information? It seems rather obvious to me which one is going to mention the afk macros.

Ack! Forgive my outburst, everyone, but I can't stand it when people question the truth of my statements and don't make the slightest effort to find the information I quoted to begin with. I can understand if the information is somewhat hidden (in which case I would have posted a link) but when it is this easy to find...

/comforts Lilo

Now, now, dear Lilo . . . not everyone knows you for the honest, upright person that many of us do.

Now, I impatiently await your return to the entertainment galaxy . . .

I know, I was just in a really bad mood this morning and had no desire to be questioned in any way. Bit some of my friends heads off too, but they managed to calm me down some.

I too look forward to when I return to my place amongst the galaxy's entertainers. Between the removal of afk'ing and the addition of the entertainer/smuggler themepark, that day edges ever closer!

Oh, and everything I said in the posts in question is still valid, it just could have been phrased in a nicer way.

Again...

If an AFK entertainer is in your group you get more XP. If they are not shouting, and are off to the side...what is the problem? This sounds like nit-picking at it's worst. This is from a person who got to Master dancer by being there the vast majority of time.

Not to impune anyones integrity, but when I see something being attributed to someone, I want corroberation and / or a link.... Do you question a journalists integrity just becuase they ask for a second source? No, in fact you probably would be outraged if they didn't back up there story with more evidence than the word of one person.

All that aside, I still don't see anything in the post that they are actually going to do anything to allieviate thesituation with AFK Macros. All I see is his statement that it has grown into something that they don't like, and was unintended. Now, If you will kindly turn to your ingame holocron and do a search for AFK macro, you will see in the knowledge base that....

SOE7122 clearly states

Are people allowed to use macros to Dance/Survey while they are AFK?

At this time there is no policy against AFK macros as long as you are only using the macro system provided as part of the Star Wars Galaxies game. The use of 3rd party programs is against the End User License Agreement.

Then, in SOE9491...

Is it a policy violation to go AFK and progress my character through in-game macros?

No. So long as no other in-game system is being abused or exploited, in-game macros are entirely supported. An in-game macro that violates our other terms and policies is still considered illegal.

So, like I said nothing in the post by JustG hinted of a SOE policy change. Who knows, they may impliment something like they did with macroing /sample. But, we just don't have that information.

How exactly do you get MORE xp when an AFK is in your group? Or do you mean that just a "warm body" whether live or not will up the xp?

This is not nitpicking. To the contrary, I won't even go into the major NPC city cantinas anymore because of the AFK situation.Almost to a player theyspam requests for heals and tips and are rarely off to the side, instead they arefront and center - even right inside the front doorof the cantina!

You get more xp if more people are in your group and playing. As an example, I can get 20 xp in 10 s flourishing on my mandovial. Get in a group of 20 and flourish and its more like 60 xp. Of course all this depends on the song being played and the instrument being used. But yes, more people playing a song, the more xp you get.

I'll respond to some of the more popular questions about the State of the Game here:

Why is the Jedi Revamp being done before the GCW revamp?

Two reasons: First, the GCW revamp is a long-reaching, complex set of changes. It will take awhile to define, design, and implment it. Along the way, each publish, we are working on fixing broken things with the GCW to make it more fun. The large overhaul is a mid-term goal. Second, we really want to stop the hologrind. We feel that AFK macroers are not healthy for the game. We want it to stop as soon as we can. And yes, we are aware that we are the ones that put the system in place. This was not what we intended, but things have evolved to this point.

I'm a master dancer, so yes - I know that. I was just making a comment about how the statement came out sounding like you get more xp because you group with AFKers . . .

Frankly I don't see what is the whole fuss about AFK Macroing!!! And for all of you that say you don't do it, you lie!!!

Both times that I've been a Master Musician I've never have had any problems joining groups, making money, buffing, etc. while AFKers were around.

Plus, sometimes when your mind is shot and you're out in the middle of nowhere........the only thing you may find is an AFKer to cure your mind wounds.....thus you are only hurting those in remote locations.
