Thread: Keep your Entertainer Droid from being stolen! /tellpet stay is the key!

***Important Public Service Announcement for Dancers and Musicians Who Use Entertainer Droids***

When you call your Entertainer Droid, please be sure to tell your droid to "stay." Do NOT forget to do this.

You can program the command on your droid under the droid's radial menu. It might be handy to create a macro called "droidStay" or something, with the command "/tellpet stay" in it. The /tellpet command keeps you from saying anything in Spatial, so people trying to do this to your droid will try in vain to lure it away from you.

There is a way for people to take control of your droid so that it runs off with them, instead of hanging out by you like it's supposed to. This is achieved with anemote, which is kind of strange. It's not exactly "stolen" as you can store and call it again, but it IS griefing, as people seem to be getting a lot of enjoyment by harassing other players with this. The same situation applies to animal pets. If you do a /tellpet stay, though, your droid will follow your command and override anyone else's attempt to control your droid. As the droid's master, your command takes precendence over anyone else.

There are reports of infant-mindedplayers in this game taking control of Doctor's droids while the Docs are buffing, making the Doc stop buffing and then they have to Store and call the droid again, and the whole process repeats. As you can imagine, the stupid folks doing this are not making friends with everyone in the buff line.

Morons are also making Merchant Barker droids follow them, and they're leading them off the waterfall in Theed and dumb junk like that.

I encourage you to /report anyone who is obviously doing this. Typically, the idiot will have multiple droids following them and think it's hysterical. /report them. If anyone steals your droid, or someone else's droid, /report them. If you see someone thieve a Doctor's droid while you're waiting in line, /report them. Keep doing a /report until they fix this, because it can get VERY frustrating.

Inform your groupmates, spread the word, and so forth - we Entertainers need to keep this from happening to us. It's an annoyance we really don't need, and it's solved by a simple command.

Thought I'd keep you all informed on how to keep this from happening to you.

I was actually notdivulging the commands purposefully...I didn't want to spread how to do this further...

But anyways, yes it works for any type of pet, animal or droid - which I mentioned in my post but kind of just threw it in, in the middle of all of that.

If you could remove the commands from your post I'd be much obliged. My intent was to help people prevent this, not teach others how to do it

It's already spread across most of the forums...

But ok.

And be sure to add theserepeat offendersto your perma-denial list. I find that more and more people are worried about the loss of buffbots because they have to stop this kind of behaviour. Cause and effect, action and consequence.

I'm not by any means trying to endorse these actions, but the thought of a MSE droid driving off a cliff is somewhat amusing.

It works with any pet, not just droids.

So those of you who like to perform with pets need to watch out.

For reference, here are the emotes:

/<wouldn't you like to know>when they're standing right over your pet will make the pet follow them

/<wouldn't you like to know>will make the pet lay down

So when you see some jackelope doing this to your pet get them to stop.

I'm not seeing how this is a reportable offense. Sure, deny them services for life, that's your perogative. But it's really rather harmless. Now, if they were actually 'stealing' your droid/pet, that'd be one thing. This is just 'mischief' as I see it (my humble opinion). Personally, I'd take the RP routeof 'chasing down the ruffians who hijacked my droid in a crowded marketplace', rather than lose all sense of the game and try to get someone punished. is one thing that keeps the game fun. If it's too predictable, it loses a bit of what (I think) it was intended to be.

My 2 cents. Flame away.

You obviously never have had a nalargon pulled away from you while buffing

You've obviously never been a buffing doc..I gave up master doc after having 4 people constantly do this to me for 1 hour in coronet.

I reported all 4 of them and I'm sure nothing happened.

Is it game-breaking? Probably not. However, is it griefing? Definitely YES. When you're taking away the tools someone uses to do their job, whether it's buffing, advertising, or entertaining; that's griefing. You might even argue that for the doctor, at that point in time, it IS game-breaking.

And what if you used a droid in combat, and you were out hunting, and someone did it to your combat droid? Would you then agree that it's a reportable offense? (Pretend for a moment that droids are worth using in combat!)

The problem is that people are doing this with Merchant Barker droids. That's how people advertise for their new goods in various shops. Tell me how a Merchant is supposed to chase down ruffians who steal his droid while he's off doing other things. This is not fun, it's grieifing, and it's harming someone else's fun in the game.

Look at it this way, you spend 20k on a Merchant Barker droid. You spend 100's of thousands on some new merchandise for your vendor. You spend 100's of thousands on resources to sell on your vendor. You use your new Merchant Barker droid in Coronet.

You check your vendors a couple hours later and see nothing's sold. You go to check on your droid, and it's nowhere to be found. That is NOT mischief, that's infuriating.

This "mischief" of yours is ruining their gameplay. Not to mention, when you're griefing Doctors, angering an entire line of players who are trying to get buffed when a Doctor's droidkeeps getting taken away. Just knock it off, it's all very childish and immature, and does nothing to keep the game "fun." It just ruins everyone else's fun.

Yeah, it is. Until it's your MSE droid. And it has your armor/weapons/etc in it. Or you need it to buff people. Then it becomes less funny.
