Why are you using a Nalargon to buff, it's a poor choice for any environment where you need to target anything other than it?

Well, there's not too many places you can buff where you need to target anything. Especially since you can /setperform [name]

When I'm playing my Dancer/Musician alt, I play the Nalargon with my master dancer title up. Easy and non-spammy way to indicate I can do both buffs.

I'm baaaaaack
And it looks like I'll be going again.

I'm not by any means trying to endorse these actions, but the thought of a MSE droid driving off a cliff is somewhat amusing.

Yeah, it is. Until it's your MSE droid. And it has your armor/weapons/etc in it. Or you need it to buff people. Then it becomes less funny.

I guess should have been more clear, reading that sentence brought to mind the image of a MSE droid driving off a cliff. I by no means would ever want to or want anyone else to lure someone else's droid away.

My city's doctor says /stay alone doesn't work well enough if someone keeps repeatedly stealing your droid. He actually has a repeating /stay macro, I think.

Ok, I've tried everything possible to find a solution to this:

Creating a single patrol waypoint and setting it on patrol

FAILED

Using the "lie down" command to make it stay

FAILED

Using stay

FAILED

Using all the above in conjunction

FAILED

Things that kinda work:

A Stay or Follow Me macro

Making the droid patrol around you in a relatively large square. A moving droid makes it harder for the jerk to "steal" the droid.

I'd have to agree with RoperGaran on that one...

Actually, it's not a huge deal if you stop playing while buffing, you can just restart. I use a Nalargon because it makes you easily identifiable as a Master Musician in a sea of AFK'ers and dabblers.

But, yeah, the target thing is highly annoying. I usually stand in my Nalargon and buff with my Chid horn.

Yeah, when I was MM, that's why I used the Nalargon. But the standing in it while playing something else is a great idea!

***Update***

I was in Mos Eisley the other night, for no other reason than to wait around for new folks to spawn, with my HELPER tag up, so that I could actually help them. What can I say, I like to help people.

Anyhow, what do I see?

A yokel running by each new player and grabbing their green Newbie droids.

He had no less than about 10 Newbie R2 droids, a gaping spider baby, a Binary Load Lifter barker droid, and some sort of big cat following him around.

My single biggest problem with this was all the new players who spawned, saw their droid get nabbed, then just sort of stared as the guy ran away with their opportunity to learn how to SWG. They most likely didn't know how to store their droids and recall them, heck they didn't know how to get to the datapad or what the datapad was at all.

I spent most of my time sending a /tell to these new people, telling them how to store their droid and recall it, and do /tellpet stay to keep the guy from nabbing it again. I'm sure he thought it was funny, but those new players were so confused/angry/frustrated. It was really a shame. After about the 7th new player who I had to explain this stupid exploit to, I got really mad that I SHOULD have been spending my time with them discussing how to play the game, not get their Helper droids back so they can make a little cash and get a travel voucher.

I proceeded to /bug the way he was doing it, then when he mercilessly kept rounding up anything in sight, I did a /report via the Holocron (so I could actually type something useful in the ticket and explain what was going on). I thenhad tocall my Treadwell droid to get a few crates of stuff out of it. And here comes that guy. Sure enough, he took my droid. So, now it was personal. I made several comments on the open harassment ticket, indicating the names of the droids that were stolen (as best I could), the pets that the guy had nabbed, the number of them, where this was happening, the fact that stole my droid as well and took several screenshot while targetting him and his lame droid parade.

About an hour or 2 later, a CSR contacted me and said the Development team is currently working out a solution, asked for me to be patient with the problem, but assured me that they ARE very actively getting something together that will stop this.

I told her that the worst thing was that new players were having their Newbie quests stolen from them, with no idea how to proceed, because they don't even know that CTRL+D gets them to their datapad, or how droids work. I recommended that CSR's get to Mos Eisley whenever they can, until this fix is implemented, because that's no way for their new customers to begin their gaming experience. I know that if I ran into that when I first started, I'd think this game was pretty disappointing, and I would wonder what other griefing I'd have to deal with.

The CSR said that it was indeed very upsetting to hear that he was doing that to new players, and again said the Devs know about this and are getting a solution ready to go in very soon, and thanked me for helping the confused new players.

So, yeah, the Devs are well aware of this. Some guildies told me that they knew of friends who were doing this and thought it was funny, until they got kicked and banned from the game for a couple of days. Then they realized it really wasn't so funny.

The Devs know about this, the CSR's are banning for it, and we can only wait for the fix to get put in to correct it.

If this happens to anyone, or you see anyone doing it, call your droid and see if they'll take the bait, submit a /bug, then open your Holocron (CTRL+H) and submit a harassment ticket. Be nice to the CSR's, she seemed very frustrated with the situation in general. I was probably the 300th person to tell her about this going on, lol.

I for one didnt even know this was going on, and I am glad the csr's are taking it seriously; I of course didnt have any "helper droid" when I started but I can imagine the frustration if some **edit** wandered off with my walking tutorial while I was standing there scratching my head, good for you for taking an active role to try to make things right. Now, I dont want to add fuel to the fire here, but I know there is a command to make someone else's creature change posture, is this part of the exploit? I think it's cute as hell to see a gurreck or bunny lollly-gagging around in the street (wouldnt do this in a combat situation or anything dangerous mind you)...is this going to be changed as well?

I've found that stay doesn't work very well.

It's much better to use the /tellpet followme command instead.

Because evne if they manage to steal your droid, a /tellpet followme in time will warp it back to you. And I've yet to see the followme macro fail (I've seen the stay one fail many times).

Mutiple complaints about this on the CH boards

/tellpet stay does not work

This is a form of griefing, that the devs put on low priority.
That is untill you musicians, dancers, docs, and merchants started having the problem too.

Official word is it will be dealt with sometime after publish 10

The official word comes from Vertexon (the CH corr)

/tellpet will almost never work if your pet knows a 1 letter command for the action. So if your pet learned that "s" means "stay" when you '/tellpet s' it usually won't work. Try giving your pets 2 or 3 letter commands instead of 1 and it should obey when you use /tellpet.
