You're right, Image Designers don'thave a purpose in terms of gameplay. Perhapsthey should? I suppose they should be able to buff something.
ID is just as important as Musician, Dancer, or any other profession. It has its share of bugs. And, also, it's the best, and easiest, profession to get out content for, because all the art team needs to do is model, instead of dealing with animations, actual music, etc, which is more work and takes more time.
Image Designer business has become little to nothing. People will ALWAYS need Dancers and Musicians. But due to the lack of new content for image designers, our business has fallen to the side because we have nothing new to offer to customers who've seen it all and decided on a look they like.

I am not saying that ID doesn't deserve any attention, but it does not serve a needed function in the game. As far as I know, ID does not provide a necessary function in the game. I may be over thinking this a bit, but I dont see ID being as important as dancer and musician. Having said that, I do not mean any ill will towards people that have chosen ID. I know that ID can be great fun and a good addition to RP'ing.
You are probably right that it is easier to create content for ID than musician or dancer.

I think you're right. I think scale of importance looks something like this:
------> Everybody else
------> Entertainers
------> Image designers
Like I stated before, I know this is really early. There had better be some fixes in publish 8 for musician and dancer if they are going to waste their time and effort on ID.
ID is as important as any other class in the game. That said, what part of the musicians game mechanics are not working ? Everything an entertainer has to do works. Buffing, BF healing, wound healing. All working. Could it be better with more eyecandy ? Yes. But then, what else is the ID change ?
You and Zulian have good points. I apologize for my frustration getting the best of me.
I understand you're frustrated, Navi.
You know I respect you. And I feel your pain. But unfortunately, we're not too broken as far as mechanics go. Our healing works, our buffing works, our music works. Dancers have four bugged base dances. IDers have that bug that can prevent them from IDing themselves, or prevent someone from getting ID'd, for hours on end, less they know the workaround, and I'm not sure it always works.
If I'm right, more than two departments need to work together for musician: One for sound(new music, new music flourishes), one for animation(playing the instrument, the flourishes), and one for art(the instruments.) With dance, they need to work with the art and animation. But with ID, all they need to do is work with the art.
So, really, they could be working on all three at once, however, the ID stuff will come out more quickly because it has less work.
I'm sure they're working on new stuff for us dancers and musicians. Unfortunately, it'll take more time. :-/
But, didn't Jake hint that new entertainer stuff, not just ID, would be coming sometime between the next two publishes? ![]()
We're getting some love soon, hon. Just don't take it out on other professions. ^__^
But yeah, I'm right there with you on the frustrated part; case and point: Zulian nearly got deleted a few days ago.
yeah a droid to do tech effects whoo hoo *twirls finger* ... they said they have new songs done but "their hard to code" so they don't know when we'll get them... btw those have been done for months....

The devs have offered the same explanation to me: IDcontent is simpler to make than Musician content. And unfortunately, I suspect Dancer content is easier to make than Musician content, too. ![]()
On new songs, it's not just coding the music that takes time.A major part of the process obviously consists of composing, arranging, rehearsing, performing, recording, re-recording, mixing, re-mixing, and mastering the music itself. I still haven't had any confirmation from the devs that that portion of the music-making is done yet, much less the coding to arrange it into flourishes for the game. I don't know which part is responsible for the hold-up. I really haven't heard anything specific at all, and as you know I've been asking for months. The devs do tell me a lot of stuff, but they've always been very tight-lipped about the music production process. I'm not sure why.
