Thread: Master Entertainer and Mandivol...is it worth it?
I was working my way up the musicianship line in Entertainer and was wondering if hitting all the boxes for Master Entertainer and the Mandivol was worth it? What are the sounds on the Mandivol? Is it worth the Dancing and Image Design grind? I have yet to see anyone who has one and wanted to get some input before I make the decision. Thanks!
Of course this is my personal opinion, but yes, if you are really enjoying playing, Master Entertainer is worth it. I love my Mandovil, and Ceremonial as a song is pretty cool too, but I would not trade my Mandovil for anything.

I wanted to be a dancer in the begining, then I saw some higher level musicians and decided I wanted to be a musician as well. Well, I wanted to get the mandoviol and cerimoniol so I can have all of the songs and instruments. Getting up the dancing and healing part of the tree, for me, was easy because I wanted to be a dancer. Getting the music up was a little harder because gaining xp takes a little longer. While the image design was just a bother, but as I progressed through the ID, I realized that it is a good way of income. So, now I decided that I was going to be an image designer part time.
Now, I have mastered entertainer and am using my mandoviol like crazy because I love it! I also like cerimoniol because it is a nice song. Now, I would love to see a full band be able to play cerimoniol because there aren't that many master entertainers. Also, if you have a newb in your band and have to switch to SW1, then use your mandoviol because it makes it sound like a completly different song! The mandoviol actually sounds like an electric guitar ! Which really makes people go, "wow! this song is cool! what song is it?" Then I'd tell them it's SW1 and they would be shocked.
But back to the point, yes, going for master entertainer is worth it. There are few who have bothered to become a master and if you are one of them, you can hold that title proudly above your head!

yes, its worth it....for me. But for you? Only you can determine that. If you have a differnet path you wish to take and can't spend the points for it, then its a no go for you. Some people don't want to spend points in it because they wish to do something else.
But remember you can always surrender points as well.
Anyway, I think it is worth it. Nothing like playing ballad with mando. Just a mando and a bandfill sounds great with ballad. I love it.
You have enough points to master muscian and work one other profession successfully(more or less)
So, are you a muscian first (love hanging out in cantina's, want to get in a band, etc.)?
Or are you something else first and enjoy jamming and being able to heal your guildmates etc?
If the first, than the mando/ceremonial is worth it, if the second, those 29 extra skill points are much better spent somwhere else.\

it is worth it! the sound is great, and not that common.
I enjoyed the dancing, and when I dont want to put down my weapon, I have an effective, and decent performance option.
First, thanks for all the great responses. I appreciate the input, you guys and gals rock! I'm always the guy who filled his slots in other MMORPGs due to wanting to try out as much as possible. The ability to sell back skill points is murder for me, I've already done it twice. My current plan is to go straight up the Musicianship line in Entertainer to Musician, then hit two of the trees so I can spread some points around, but truth to tell, not having that mandivol HURTS. I was always on the pre-release boards pushing to make sure there was going to be a "guitar-like" instrument in the game.
Now there is, but I'm stuck deciding what I want to give up to get it...lol. Oh well. Thanks again for all the great input. After crusing some of the other profession based boards, this is definitely one of the better ones. People who are willing to help AND have a sense of humor. I appreciate all the help! =)
I've only had a mando for a few days, but so far I think it's worth it. Surprisingly, it sounds best to me on Star Wars I -- because it's an electric guitar on that tune. On most other tunes, it sounds like a violin. Don't get me wrong, I'm a classical music fan, and I love the violin -- but it's nice to rock too.
The mando looks cool, which is a plus too. And Ceremonial is a wonderful song, one of our best.
I found I was spending more time in the field hunting than I was in the Cantina playing music. Most of the people who leveled entertainer skills when I did have moved on and I find I do not enjoy the current Catina atmosphere in Coronet. (hint to new musician groups: play the same song)
Waltz on mandoviolin is great too, for it's really sound like a real violon.

I have both M.E and M.M and love the Mando, kinda like the extra song...
I am sad to report that I will be "Un-learning" the Mando as I have ran out of skill points and fume at the thought of ID and Dancing (stuff I will never use) taking up space in my XP pool just so I can play an instrument that ANY RL "Master Musician" would be able to learn without having to cut hair or dance. At a minimum I wish that they would allow us to go through the steps they want to "Earn" the instrument and song, and then allow us to kill the skills without losing those abilities.
This would be like having a cool dance be something you you get for a music tree skill... Dancers would be pissed......
