Thread: For the love of God, what is the status of the Entertainer Quest?

Apparently it's way too hard.

We're a waste of their time.

We're NOTHING. NOTHING.

What a grand way to make us feel.

Like we've been talking to ourselves for a week and a half.

By the way, I hope the Devs enjoy my ingredients listing of Tropicana Orange Juice and Mountain Dew Code Red. Calories are also noted.

A thread that has any attention paid to it would have such nonsense dealt with, right?

We shall see.

Next up: The first thing I see in my cupboard when I get home from work. Stay tuned.

Well, they seem to be relying more on me to do this sort of thing for them, but they don't always tell me what's up either. The latest line on this, a week ago, was that our quest is ready to go -- but the Dancer quest isn't, because of the bugs in the dancer base dance.

I posted a thread in the Correspondent Forum inquiring about the status a few days ago, but I haven't had any further dev response yet. In particular, I asked whether the devs see the quests as inextricably bound, or whether they can be severed. Panthu has also bumped my thread several times. I'll certainly report if I hear anything new.

Warryyr,

I feel your pain. I finally gave in and I have dropped my dancing skills and my Master Image Designer

My original character, Durney, of all my toons, was the one I did not want to touch at all. But entertainers ARE second rate citizens in this game. Since we are the mind healers, you would think we would get a resonable amount of attention, but alas, it appears to not be the case, both in the eyes of the Devs and the greater community at large.

I have picked up TK skills now and plan to master it. Then I intend to get my second character slot opened. Unfortunately since we have to keep the 24 boxes of FS skills to maintain the second character, I will go ahead and surrender all my entertainer skills as needed while pursuing, not only the character slot, but a full Jedi. The only reason for this turn around is that I have a few friends thatI play withthat nowhave the Jedi bug, and I am going along for the ride.

I have a FS character, my Master CH / Master Ranger, Dunk. But I think I will be deleting him and closing that secondary account soon as I am very dissapointed in how the Jedi system ( now that I have fully immersed myself into it ) is not really a quest based system, but rather an even larger time sink than the holo grind was. And it does nothing at all to help stem the tide of AFKer at all. rather it encourages AFKers now, from my point of view. The new system even gates you for weeks at a time and I strongly recommend anyone who wishes to pursue any of the FS skills to go have a look at a few of the sticked posts in the new FS Forum.

It really pains and saddens me that I have to*edit* my original character whos skill set has not changed at all in a year and a few months. And its all because the entertainer classes have become so very stagnant, and we entertainers are so under-valued to everyone else.

Once I open my secondary slot, of course that character will become an entertainer, but I doubt very much that I will once again ever have a toon thats a pure entertainer. If the Developersfeel that non-combat oriented characters should not really be viable characters, I wish they would just come out and tell everyone. The only reason I bought SWG, besides the fact that its Star Wars, was that they had this new and exciting game play style that would allow you to advance in your chosen profession without ever having to kill anything. In truth you can, but you will be poor, and will never have many of the things that only credits can buy. And, you will most likely go mad from repetitive boredom.

So far, with different characters I have done.......

Mastered Professions - Artisan, Merchant, Entertainer, Musician, Image Designer, Marksman(2x), Commando, Scout (4x), Ranger (2x), Creature Handler, Medic, Smuggler

Unmastered Professions - Dancer, Brawler, Fencer, Teras Kasi, Pistoleer, Rifleman, Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, Droid Engineer, Chef, Politician

With all characters combined, I have been to most every POI, I have done all but the Imperial Themepark or the Death Watch Bunker. I have a FS character in the village and have been running quests. But of note, is that I never, ever holo-ground and every profession i have played and mastered is because I wanted to, or would benefit guild members and I had an interest anyhow.

I would have been pretty happy to have just been an entertainer, but when its like it is currently... /shrug

I am going to go hang with a few friends and start the "Jedi Grind". It appears like thats what we are supposed to do now anyhow

Well that was my two creds for now....heh

Durney

Still Master Entertainer / Master Musician

I love typos

Message Edited by Cudayn on 09-29-2004 05:18 PM

I have reversed direction and am as of now, not messing with Durney anymore, and as soon as I have time I will "fix" him and get Master Image Designer and at least Novice Dancer back. I willcontinue to help my friendsin the village with my alt and may even pursue a Jedi with him ( Anyone ever seen a Bothan Jedi yet? ) but I refuse to "kill" a character I love.

Thanks, NJ.

I guess what's most frustrating in this is that our stuff got put off, or whatever happened - and we didn't get the simple courtesy of a Dev telling us that.

Like, look back and see anywhere that new content was going to be put in-game. Now show me where that new content was buggy/delayted/too unstable to implement, yet the Devs said nothing about it, and never implemented it, and just never said anything further about it.

Smugglers got word of the delay of their revamp. Which sucks, but they knew.

Any Jedi delays were immediately relayed to the players.

Now I still can't find that post that said the Entertainer Quest was delayed and they're working on the dance...

Which is just too bad. They kinda dropped the ball here, big time. We can't even be told what's going on when our new content just...doesn't show up? I know we reported feedback in that thread - but did it do anything? Have they seen it? With no reply about that, nor the cause for the Quest delay, what are they to expect? A bunch of Entertainers to just...wait and see what happens when our stuff just doesn't show up?What about the poor guy/gal who doesn't go to the forums and is waiting for the new song/dance? Word will get to them it's coming, but when no one knows what's going on that non-forum person gets left in the dark. Word of the quest's status would spread if they actually told us what's going on.

NJ, would you confirm for me that the last you've heard of an implementation date for our Quest was in Publish 10.2 - the most recent info you'd gotten? Or did they say 10.3 because the numbering was off. Just curious.

We appreciate your efforts, NJ. Must be just as annoying for you as for us to see a mass of postings in the Jedi forums by Devs when doing a Dev search.

The deadline has come and gone.

NewJedi, I expect a status on this immediately.

We were told we were getting the Quest.

We tested it.

We provided feedback.

We heard nothing else regarding the friggin thing. I must then assume all was well and fully functional for implementation.

So, where is it.

Otherwise, where is the Dev explanation for the delay and the cause of the delay.

This is ridiculous, nobody else is treated this way in this game. Any other content being added gets at least the COMMON COURTESY of an update when their content is not delivered on schedule and as expected.

If we thus so inferior to the rest of the player base that we don't deserve to know what the HELL is going on with our new content, I'm turning in my Slitherhorn and never coming back. NO ONE deserves to be treated like this. This has gone beyond inexcusable. This is now nothing short of an INSULT to me and everyone else waiting for this Quest.

I await the reply.

Good bye.

TREATED WITH DIGNITY.
TREATED WITH DIGNITY.
(Please note the above post was created by a PLAYER, not a DEV like our Quest feedback post. The PLAYER created their thread on 9/22 and had a Dev response regarding the problem on 9/24. NOW THAT'S SERVICE! The Quest Feedback thread has NEVER BEEN REPLIED TO. Even though the REWARD is BROKEN for Dancers! What a joke!
TREATED LIKE INVISIBLE PIECES OF CRAP.

Oh, but our fine new assistant community relations manager has done a FINE job of ignoring my concerned private forum message! So did Thunderheart and Chrysalide! TOTALLY IGNORED! Wonderful Service.

The IMPORTANT thing is:

Tiggs is playing with cartoons (Hey, Tiggs - the title should be Tiggs' Toons not Tigg's Toon's - learn the proper use of an apostrophe)

Thunderheart adds more junk to a list instead of dealing with what's ON the list.

And finally, my favorite:
Yet MORE CONFIRMATION to alleviate those poor Jedi hopefuls - don't worry, they didn't forget about THEM, and Tiggs will see what she can track down for THEM! Glad to see it! NOW WHERE THE HELL IS MY CONTENT?.

How hard is it to just post a "hey guys, we know you're frustrated, but by this time next week we'll have a lot of info for you on what's going on"

Let me put things in perspective a bit. I realize its frustrating and I hate it but we aren't the only ones that get ignored. The people who get the focus are the combat classes, particularly Jedi. The creature handlers are not only ignored but have been bugged and disfunctional for so long that the forum disintegrated to a flame fest and is now heavily moderated. Still no updates on their status, still no fixes, but a very heavy hand that deletes and locks posts in record time.

So as bad as it seems at least musician does work. Your instruments don't disappear, run off, get /summoned by others. You haven't spent 12 months looking for a rareinstrument outin the wilds of dathomirto have the one you finally found despawn as you are trying to tame it.

I hate the AFKers, buff-bots, etc. But those are bigger issues than just entertainer. I'm anxious for the quest as well but I don't want the dancers short changed on their new dance just to get it sooner. I want to hear from the devs on the progress but that only happens if you are in the perceived market majority segment. Since we aren't Jedi, probably won't be Jedi, and don't much care for Jedi we are definitely not in the majority segment it seems.

Until JTL and the combat rebalance I suspect not much will happen. Is that sad, yes. Is it reasonable, well I don't think so but I don't see the statistics on player preferences. I suspect far more customers are affected by AFK play than the combat rebalance but since that has become so ingrained in the gameI guess SOE just doesn't hear about it enough to know to really care more.

I know, Elwyn.

There most certainly are professions worse off than us.

However, there hasn't been a single announced addition to content in this game that's been delayed or not implemented without any word from the Devs. That is, there wasn't, until the Entertainer Quest.

Look back and see what feature or new content was delayed/not published when expected, and the Devs said nothing about it to the concerned player group.

We were told 10.2

So, where's our content? Why was it delayed?

Telling us we're getting something, starting a feedback thread, then just up and disappearing without anything getting published is ridiculous.

We're told we're getting new content. That publish comes and goes, and then some. Nothing gets published. We should get a status, end of story. Not conjecture and conjecture alone as to what's going on, from the Correspondents. i.e. we post that the dance is broken and that's lame, nothing gets published, oh they must be working on the dance. I'll believe it when I see it.

Fully expect the Quest to publish whenever the Devs feel like it (very sad) and in the state it's always been on TC. Actually, don't expect anything. We seem to be undeserving of new content, respect, or effort from the Dev team. So we've been put in our place, so it seems.

Everyone is hopeful that once JTL and the CB are in that the DEVs will turn at least some small attention to our (and some of the other borked professions) direction. It won't happen. With JTL and CB there will be more of those kinds of players in game than us and we will be in the same position as we are now only more so. Even more outnumbered and being less needed we will be even easier to ignore and disrespect. We may as well face the facts, we will never be any kind of priority to the DEVs.

Pet vitality loss from PvP was delayed 5 builds and still doesn't work. It was delayed with no notice or word. A new pet revitalize radial option was announced and no one could even figure out what it was supposed to do! It wasn't something anyone requested or saw a need for. It was announced, delayed 6 patches, now seems to work inconsistently, and broke the application of stims to pets. The inconsistency part may be in part because it still isn't even clear what it is supposed to do.

That is just two I can think of in the 4 months I did CH. So again to put it in perspective we are not alone and it is standard operating procedure if you aren't in one of the chosen skill trees.

Do I like it, heck no. I don't however want us to start all the conspiracy theories or the large flame fests that get you nothing but a heavily moderatedboard. It also drives people away, the profession has enough hurdles without making the place to go for information an unfriendly place full of nothing but complaints.

As soon as JTL goes live, their team will be bogged down with all the bugs and exploits going on from lack of extensive testing and 'different hardware issues' from server to server.

The CB will have them scrambling to keep all their precious PVPers and Jedi happy after they cry NERF!

We just need more LA involvement and less SOE.
