Thread: For the love of God, what is the status of the Entertainer Quest?

Warryyr, I confess I'm pretty confused about what publish number is to contain the Musician and Dancer quests. Originally it was 10.2. Then a publish named either 10.02 or 10.2 went Live, without the quests. Then this latest minipublish had another number. So who knows.

It appearsthat the glitches in the new dance are holding things up. I've been talking to Panthu about what she thinks about severing her quests from ours, and we've both raised it with the devs, but we're still waiting for an answer.

As for our place in the SWG universe: I see both cause for pessimism and optimism. The pessmistic argumentsinclude these two:(1) this is a business, and businesses respond to the great mass of their customers. SOE isn't in this for fun; it's in this to make a profit for its employees and shareholders. If the great majority of players want to be pilots and Jedi and BHs, then that's where the dollars are, and that's who should get the majority of resources. (2) It's harder to create nontraditional entertainer-friendly content than traditional combat-oriented combat, which is well-ploughed ground thanks to countless MMORPGs like EQ, AC, DAoC, etc. In particular, it's hard for computer AI to assess how "well" one plays an entertainer, which involves art, which is subjective.

The optimistic arguments include these: (1) Even if one looks through the cold eye of abusiness lens, Musicians, Dancers, Entertainers and IDs still constitute a significant percentage of the playerbase, and SOE needs their dollars as much as anyone else's. It would not be rational business policy to write off this constituency, since it numbers tens of thousands of people, and thus amounts to hundreds of thousands of dollars of revenue a month. That's not chump change. (2) The devs have already sunk money into several more new songs in various stages of development. It would not be rational to seek no return on this investment. (3) Entertainers give SWG a competitive advantage vis-a-vis EQ2, WoW, and other new MMORPGs, which don't have this feature.

Hehe, I've mentioned that before. I think. There are more songs in the works, and have been for some time. No idea on an ETA. In my fantasies, I think "Hutt Casino, within six months."

Ok I'm going to be honest here with you all for once... and it will be the only time you ever see the truth from a dev posted here

Your are paying us to fix jedi, Make a new Magazine, Make JtL. You are patient. You put a positive spin on most things and do your best to make your own content because God knows we don't have a freakin clue how to do it. Ohh look here is my Office Donut that you paid for.

That 30$ for the last two months waiting for macro change info( x all 30 of you Entertainers)I mean what would we do with out that... lol 15 months and we literally give you all a "song and a dance" lol... wow that's funny stuff there... anyways...

All your important functions we have decided to let bots do as honestly do you need to dance or play music in order to socialize ? Nope. You can do that out whacking gnorts. Or grinding jedi together. We are just going to let you die off. If we ignore you maybe sooner or later you'll take the hint and leave. But at this rate we may have to do something a bit more drastic as you are all really taking your time in leaving.

So from all of us here a big thanks to you all and a happy "Up yours"

Umm Sorry about that what I meant to say was

The entertainer is an exciting new type of profession in MMO gaming. It is a social based profession where players interact with other players.
