Thread: Entertainer group size being looked into
Thunderheart said:
We've spoken to the team with regards to entertainer groups and how important it is for larger groups, and since it doesn't impact combat, it is a possibility. It is beyond the scope of the CU, but the team is aware of this very important issue for entertainers and grouping.
This was stated here as response to some of the feedback in the focus thread. So hopefully the non-CU devs are working hard to get the hookup for us

Well I will say that this response is better than nothing....I guess.
I'm glad it was IN SCOPE to gimp us with smaller groups, and OUT OF SCOPE to fix it. Ahh well.

So, wait...how was the fix to allow up to 30 people into POB ships"in the scope of the CU" then?
8 people should be plenty to man any POB combat ship.
If it was broken by the CU, it should be fixed by the CU.
This game has 10 instruments that Musicians can play.
Theyjust ousted 2 paying customers from really playing in a band featuring all 10 instruments with their friends. I don't care for how long it ends up being, they're knowingly breaking Entertainer xp, Entertainer healing xp, and adversely affecting a full Musician band.
I don't find this "outside the scope of the CU" statement acceptable at all.
It's quite obvious, really. They never gave a thought to Entertainers in this whole process, and anyone who had would've had a plan in place already, a solution to present to us, once we voiced our concern about this grouping problem.
Instead we get something about how they're "aware of this very important issue for Entertainers and grouping."
Yeah, they should be well aware. They did it, it will harm the new player experience for Entertainers, and it will apparently be allowed to exist in this fashion in the game until they decide they have a solution and get it implemented.
Unacceptable. It should have been accounted for, and we deserve better than this. If they broke it with the CU, the CU should provide a fix.
And I still don't understand how having up to 30 people in a POB ship got a fix right away (which shows they anticipated the problem), yet they're "aware" of our "very important" issues and we get this "it's outside the scope of the CU."
In other words, sorry folks, we broke it and didn't think about it, but now we are thinking about it so don't worry, we'll fix it sometime after the CU. Not good enough.
Anybody can look at 10 Musician instruments, an 8 person group size, and at least know from THERE that there's an issue.
Oh well, they finally thought about us, but it's too late. New Entertainers get hosed for awhile, and it has the blessing of the Devs because they can't/don't want to devote the resources to solve a basic problem of mechanics and playing in a full band...for the sake of combat being okay.
The POB ship fix had NOTHING to do with combat, and a similar fix would have been easily enough implemented for us. But they thought about it too late...probably once we actually told them about it. Doesn't exactly give me the warm fuzzies.
I'm really disappointed with the CU, solely becausethe Dev team has allowed this to happen.
Yeah, cool, we get a fix. Sometime. But they screwed up bands and they screwed up the Novice Entertainer experience (slower xp gain will once again drive people to figure out how to AFK to finally level up...the xp gain needed a BOOST and not a reduction).

What "non-CU Devs"?? There is such a thing? I hardly think there will be any non-CU Devs for months to come, because they'll have to spend the rest of the year fixing and re-balancing this mess.
For the rest of my comments, see Warryyr's post above. He said pretty much all I would have said as well.
There are Devs working on stuff aside from the CU. I think those were the folks who finally implemented our new songs and dances. Though, later on they tried to make it out like the songs and dances were somehow tied to the CU, which they weren't.

Yeah, I mean - it's great news. And yeah, thanks Scip ![]()
I'm just very disappointed the Devs are knowingly doing this. I was hoping they'd hop to it and fix this problem fast. Instead we're back in the land of "outside the scope of the CU." I think that really means they don't have time to deal with our issues at this point. Too bad, this whole thing should have been handled much better.
Nevertheless, at least we have some acknowledgement that they know it affects us pretty harshly.

Well, I can understand their current need tofocus on core combat, as it's the primary attraction to this game. An expansion is slated for a 05-05-05 release, and now the CU is tied to that schedule. (Huge mistake, by the way.) In my opinion, there should have been an extended alpha testing phase. Now we'll be in beta for4 more months, even though it's been pushed to Live. These types of issues could have been anticipated and dealt with early if more information had been provided in the "alpha" phase...
Agreed.
Well, what's done is done, I guess.
Nothing can be done about it now.
And so on.
Sometime I hope they make an expansion/massive publish to this game that's NOT riddled with bugs. And the CU was something that really needed to be high quality with only small bugs. It will not fare well for this game to push a ton of buggy code to the game. I don't know how many folks will stand for it.
