and what part of this is not par for the course with SOE and Star Wars Galaxies? The original game wasn't ready for beta 1 when that started. It wasn't ready to leave beta 1 when it did. It definitely wasn't ready for beta 3 and the open beta. It wasn't ready for launch.

Jedi. The "organic" system wasn't ready, so they just said "master 5 random profs, but don't tell them." Then they said "tell them, and even give them a way to be told 4 of the 5." Then they said "the hell with it, we'll just scrap the system all together and start from scratch." Then that system wasn't even ready for release.

JTL could have been better polished for launch.

Now we've got the CURB and ROTW. They'll be released before they're ready, because that's just what SOE does with this game. See, they know they can get away with releasing a below expectation product and bringing it up to snuff after the fact with patches. Why? Because it's Star Wars. We'll play the game no matter how buggy it is or how stupid the design of a system is.

I'm a prime example. I like some aspects of the CURB, but many things just make me want to cancel. But I won't. Hell, I'll even end up pre-ordering ROTW before too long. Why? I wanna ride a varactyl. I wanna get a high mass light Hutt fighter. I wanna guard my friend from pirates as she mines asteroids. I know it's gonna be buggy, and I know aspects of the game will irritate me. I also know I'm gonna get it anyways. SOE knows this, and SOE thinks it's better to get the expansion out on time than to get it out right. Yeah, the original release of the game was a lot later than planned, but it was still not ready for release.

To paraphrase Lord Vader... I find their lack of patience disturbing. (but I do understand it.)

We've spoken to the team with regards to entertainer groups and how important it is for larger groups, and since it doesn't impact combat, it is a possibility. It is beyond the scope of the CU, but the team is aware of this very important issue for entertainers and grouping.

This was stated here as response to some of the feedback in the focus thread. So hopefully the non-CU devs are working hard to get the hookup for us .

The thread your clicky was linked to has been deleted, it says.

The official term for that is "archived"

Yeah, they archive those feedback threads every now and then. This particular post was a reply in which Thunderheart addressed a couple of questions. The quote was part of a response to a question about whether combat group size would stay at 8, if I remember correctly.

Okay, how much looking does this take?

When is this being fixed?

If the CU hits and Entertainers are still screwed, I'm gonna be pissed. And it looks like I'm going to pissed.

Warryyr, do you promise to rip arms out of devs' sockets??? If so, best news I've heard since the CU went onto Test Center!

wow, I've never been this jaded about a game before.

So, wait...how was the fix to allow up to 30 people into POB ships"in the scope of the CU" then?

8 people should be plenty to man any POB combat ship.

...

And I still don't understand how having up to 30 people in a POB ship got a fix right away (which shows they anticipated the problem), yet they're "aware" of our "very important" issues and we get this "it's outside the scope of the CU."

The 30 people on a POB ship was an easy fix, but it doesn't mean they were thinking ahead and saw the problem coming. It's simply a side effect of the "space invitation" window they implemented months ago. Instead of showing all group members within X meters, it now shows all players within X meters, with a potential to invite them aboard. It's my understanding that to actually man a station, split experience, or see groupchathowever, you need to be in the 8 person group with the pilot (I could be wrong, but that's the last I heard). In other words, it was a serendipitous workaround to what is essentially a big messup for Entertainers and Pilots alike.Large groups aren't pilots' lifeline like entertainers, but large group coordination is important and frequent enough in space that this will hurt.

Aaah! wait! No! If you rip their arm apart they could use it as a bad excuse for not coding anymore! I'm sure they'd be able to pretend that coding with feet is too hard or something...
