Thread: XP Problem With New Songs?

Sorry, I'm not as familiar with the Musician profession, but I am leveling one, and I just noticed something with the new songs. The XP gain doesn't seem to double when you double flourish. Has anyone else noticed this? I did some testing and here's what I noticed (all testing done with a mandovial, and XP gain represents first tick of XP):

SW3 - single flo: 10 XP, double flo: 20 XP
Ceremonial - single flo: 10 XP, double flo: 20 XP
SW4 - single flo: 11 XP, double flo: 11 XP
Ballad - single flo: 12 XP, double flo: 24 XP
Funk - single flo: 14 XP, double flo: 14 XP

That's as high as my character can play right now, but you can see the difference. Is this a bug, or is this as intended? If it's a bug I'll go ahead and report it.

Hi Shi'ann

This certainly doesnt look right but Ive no way to confirm this due to being capped on musical xp so no idea what the new songs should be giving.

However I found that flourishing every 5 seconds was optimal for xp gain with every tune and yes it would double up from the initial xp gain after the second flo had triggered.

To further increase xp gain you should always when possible play the highest instrument you can as well as the highest song in the musician tree you can play (or the highest song of the lowest ranked band member) and the biggest group of active members you can find. xp will also drop if a group member runs out of action and stops for a rest.

From your figures tho it does look odd that both SW4 and Funk dont seem to be giving any extra for when the doubling takes over I would expect them to give the same xp tho as any other song in the same box

Sorry for the rambling but its late here

I was noticing issues myself, but needed to do more tests.....Lemme do so and post results.

OK here are results and some analysis....

SW1 SW4 Funk WesternVirtuoso

Slyth 2/4 8/8 14/14 7/722/44

Traz10/2011/11 14/14 10/10 22/44

Fill14/29 15/15 14/14 14/14 22/44

Nal22/44 22/22 22/22 22/2222/44

-So it would seem that the new songs are not giving XP like the other songs. They are not giving the double flo bonus at all.

-Secondly, it seems like western is giving XP at the level of Music 4 ( I checked Kloo on SW 1 and got 7/14)....which is kinda weird cause you need higher to learn it, but not as much to continue to play it after learned.

-Lastly SW4 seems to be in its own little world. XP on below master instument is 1 point higher than it should be....if it were also in Music 4. However being in Nov Music it should be at Traz level.....but is not.....but it gets higher single floXP than base traz when played on a traz. Very VERY weird. And I rechecked that 1 point extra MANY times.

Scip, you wanna take all this up with the devs....and does someone want to check the dances?

Thanks for compiling the results Frag.

I assume what we want to ask for is that the songs follow the same pattern of xp based on the box they're in, yes? (I have no idea what Western "should" be, as it doesn't fit the same pattern, but it should at least presumably double the xp with the double flos).

Yea, that's my thought. I think Western is OK being different as it doesn't show up in the trees, but the songs in the trees should be comparable to their box level.

So I would ask them to fix the double flo XP on them and also look into the the XP modifier for SW4. I would think that XP gain for music is set number and then depending on the song or instrument, that number is multiplied by a modifier. It looks like they created a number for SW4 that is not the same as Traz.

I noticed this problem just now too. Seems that ballad gives twice as much xp than ballad even though its in a lower box. Even western seems to give slightly more xp than funk.

How can you say you've lived life if you've never danced?
Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.

Oppsy my bad. I meant that ballad gives more than double the xp than funk. /sigh in little circles does my thoughts run.

Frag, I was noticing something else. When playing SW4 on all lower level instruments (below Master Entertainer), it's granting only 8 XP per single flourish (as you have in your table). So it seems it's not only granting a higher XP with Mando and higher instruments, it's granting lower XP for everything under mando. Very strange this one is...

Ok, I checked the dances, and there are problems there too, but different ones. We don't have double flourish XP boosts like Musicians do, but it appears that the dances are "misfiled". I'll post about it on the Dancer Forum.

Correct. I mention that it should be at Traz level (Traz being the instrument in the same box). Forgot to point it out to Scip.....

YO! SCIP!

SW4 also has lower base XP than it should. It is keyed to the same level as Music 4 (SW3 and Kloo) but should be the same as Traz.

Sorry Scip....I had mentioned this in similar but different words.
