Thread: Did I imagine this? (Instrument Question)
that mandoviol is the best instrument in the game and yet Master Musicians cannot play it even though we are Masters of Music

I was talking to a friend in RL the other day about my plans to become a Master Entertainer, as I got to play a "cool guitar thing." (I'd heard somebody in a cantina playing a great whacka-whacka guitar rhythm and fancied a go for myself.)
However, the instrument I *thought* was the guitar-thing (available to Master Entertainers) is the Mandavoil, which looks more like a Sitar. But I was convinced I'd seen somebody playing like a Balkan lyre/guitar thing (i.e. a triangular box with a fret board.)
Did I imagine this instrument? yes And (as I haven't made ME yet) does the Mandavoil sound like a stringed instrument? yes And (finally!) are the flourish animations different when compared to the usual wind instruments? yes
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the help.
Although seeing as I'm so convinced the strange instrument in question was real, I may well need professional help... ![]()

Consider though, what would be the incentive to go master entertainer? It has to have something proprietary to it. And, when you think about it, the nimbleness of movement from dancing and the percision of ID lends itself better to a stringed instrument than any of the others.

Heh, Haerb, Star Wars 1 is actually one of my favorite tunes -- just so long as no one plays those infernal horn parts.
Agreed.

I agree that every master level should have at least one unique thing
BUT
I do not think m.ents should exclusively get the mandoviol... it would be ok to me if the mando was left in m.ent as long as it was added to m.musician.......... and I'd even be cool with the ent getting something else, although I can't think of what
, but it simply makes absolutely no sense for there to be instruments and songs that a MASTER MUSICIAN cannot play
period.
Logic has nothing to do with any of this.

It doesn't make sense that a master musician can't do things master entertainers can. It doesn't make sense that harvesting meat from dead insects lets you run uphill faster. It doesn't make sense that Rodians can speak Basic. It doesn't make sense that a rifleman is more prone to being punched than the town idiot with empty hands. It doesn't make sense that a musician can't play the flute and walk, yet can play the flute and spin, duck, and remove the WIND instrument from his mouth. It doesn't make sense that a guy buck naked in the middle of a desert without any sort of equipment can add a meter to his height. It doesn't make sense that if you shoot a bug it will look around in confusion while his buddies know exactly where you are and how to kick your ass. It doesn't make sense that a single, lone person can suddenly produce rancors that can see over -- and knock down -- buildings. It doesn't make sense that said rancors CAN'T knock down said buildings.

I love it, very nice. :-D
Well, just to tick off the Master Musicians
I made Master Entertainer and I'm loving my Mando. The animations are so cool!
Now all I need is a schoolboy uniform, a couple of Australians and a gravel-voiced Geordie and my dreams will be complete...
