I don't think you are wrong. We have a Dancer on Starsider that was given one of the badges months ago... he AFK danced at the Coronet Starport and had an interesting agenda in his bio. He was also at max weight and was usually in hotpants. Now, I personally thought he was fun and I even was tickled the few times I was his Ent Group leader and he was at the keys. I saw him give a fat tip to a newbie Dancer and some really fun advice that was 100% IC... then he went AFK till reset. *shrug*

Anyway, yes, when he got his badge, he was still 100% AFK leveling and begging. He was not healing orgetting tipped for healing though, he was only doing this at the Starport. It bugged me too, even though I mostly do agree he is a fun char.

The bot you are describing doesn't sound fun though even.

He's back agan, by the way. I saw him several times yesterday...always AFK. He was the first person to reach my ignore list on Starsider because of his spamming about wanting tips to support his agenda.

This isa sad day indeed.

Has anyone here ever actually received one? Or know of any ATKers receiving it?

I'm reaching for something positive...

Several of the Entertainer greats on Bria received them (long ago). I believe it was at one of the first Cantina Crawls, but I may be mistaken about that.

No dev has ever shown up at a crawl. The event where they received badges was one thrown by Roho, Kirah and Leivi in their old cantina on Dantooine, I believe. I forget the occasion and I showed up too late to get a badge, but Pex himself showed up and rewarded all the entertainers there with the 'credit to your profession' badge.

I'm not sure of the rationale behind giving a badge to an AFKer, but it sure sends the wrong message, especially since the devs have stated before that they hate the AFK-play phenomenon in this game.

are you F*****g joking???

an afk buff bot got a badge???????

man I gotta let my viceroy know about that one. Our guild and city is peeved about these badges already.

We're an RP guild that has had a city since day one. We host one of the biggest weekly RP events on the server and not a single one of us has a special badge.

No bio badges, no dedicated to our profession badges (I didn't know they existed), no RP badges (if they exist), nothing.

I'm putting a link to this post over on the Gorath boards. This is just sick!

What's next a reward for begging at starports?

A reward for cleaning out the mummer thugs in moenia or meatlumps on the beach in Coronet?

Perhaps a reward for looting the most from the Rori borgle cave--no wait, they nerfed the cave so people would not do that.

In fact--I think I'd post a link to this on other profession websites (if I knew how I would)...b/c if this is the behavior that is deserving of a "reward", then perhaps ID's, Smugglers, and anyone else who provides a service in game should start pestering the dev's to allow those professions to be redesigned so one doesn't actually have to play them, so that they too can be a credit to their profession simply through having written a program ( macro), dedicated account and computer to run all day, everyday.

A few weeks back, I ran across a buffbot (don't remember if it was on shadowfire or starsider) at the Dantooine Imperial Outpost...

She had in her bio "thanks to the CSR who awarded me my 'credit to your profession' badge".Talk about a slap in the face to real entertainers

And suddenly it all becomes apparent why some of the combat folks claim that Buff-bots are okay.....

If this is true, then all those who run this game need a Chidinkalu Horn upside their heads.

What's the penalty for slapping a CSR in-game? This makes a mockery of their role in our game, and our role in their game. That CSR needs to be fired.

That CSR probably has an account with a rifleman/combat medic and loves buffbots.

I normally keep quiet, don't post much but I was shocked by what happened tonight. In theed a csr comes in, and there were lots of entertainers who were at the keyboard doing buffs and entertaining and visiting with the patrons. However, as always there are those few (or many) afk entertainers who spam. Aldara is a buff bot, I have never seen her live and she is always spamming about giving buffs. I was so happy when the afk filter came into publish today because I didn't have to listen to her spam all the time. However, the csr gives her a badge "for being a tribute to her class". This sends me the message that what is more important to the game is people who will afk spam and buff than the true entertainers? Is this so? Does SOE really just want entertainer bots? I can think of a whole lot of entertainers who have done a lot for this game than a buff bot, buffing in the same room as several other live entertainers.

What about FamousFATWOOKIE and all that he has done to further entertainer awareness by having the Cantina Revival and the Underground Wookie Railroad he helped plan? Not to mention all of the other FFWB and LIVE band members who try to stay at the keyboard and entertain, play for parties, and in general, make others people's lives a little more enjoyable in game?

What about all those live entertainers who stay in out of the way places and heal, buff and entertain just to make sure that there is an entertainer there for the people?

What about the dancers and musicians who go along with hunting parties and heal mind wounds in camps?

It seems to me that there would have been a whole lot better choices to pick from, than an afk buff bot. Am I wrong in thinking that this is a low blow to the entertainers who do put effort into their class?
