Ok, allow me some time to offer an explanation as to why the buffbot was picked for a badge. I'll be the first to admit this is speculation, but I think it may have soemthing to do with SOE's CSR hireing practices, and the ignorance displayed by this CSR. Let me explain:
Prior to SWG I played EQ. I played EQ for four years straight before quiting to become an Entertainer here. EQ had/has fanfests like the one just held for SWG in early June. At one particular EQ fanfest there was an account of a player talking to a GM (GM = CSR for EQ) and the player asked the GM what experience she/he had with EQ prior to being hired on as staff. The GM said that she learned of the job via a friend that worked for SOE and put in an application. She was hired without ever have logged into the game as a player.
This person's competence notwithstanding I think it may shed some light on this. Because the CS staff is not required to have previous experience with the games they work with; This particular CSR may not have known the difference between a bot and a real person. Also, factor in that he/she may be CSR for multiple games and therefore keeping up with playing practices in all of them would be difficult. Unless, that person happens to be a devout gamer his/her self.
This does not excuse the travesty that occured when the badge was handed out. I'm simply offering up that the act may have been done out of ignorance rather than a purposeful reward for a mindless atomaton. It makes a case to ensure the CS staff is more up to date on what the current state of affiars is in the online games they service.

I would like to say that 4 members of DEF - the ATK entertainer guild on Intrepid have these badges - so it is not just buff bots - though I do also feel that it is a disgrace

I hear that yuri's is offering a special: empty vodka/gin bottles, kerosene/gasoline, and oil soaked rags 5 for $15 w/ free lighter...

that aside, i organized the ID union (which was sucessful for quite some time). During that, i also mastered musician, and met some great people (doasa, tralmek, dranon, and others) who have been doing musician/dancer/id for several months... and a buff bot gets the praise? WHAT F***ING BULLS***! (edit, i origionally didn't bother with the *'s)

As extreamly mad as I am at this whole disgusting action of CSR's this comment almost made me spit out my drink laughing. LOL thank you, I needed that.

I received a "professional accolade" from Pex. (It was one of the happiest and proudest moments Lei ever had in this game.) In fact I even wore a statement alluding to it in my signature file until I thought it might be a bit pretentious. I can only say that I am ashamed of it now and this whole incident has made this amark of disgrace. We need an apology from SOE. Its that simple.

A stupid macro gets some AFK'er a badge for her "profession."
Why don't these **edit** CSR's go into the Geonosian Cave and give some AFK Rifleman some badges for being a tribute to their profession. How about the AFK grinders staring at walls around Theed with their 3rd party autoclicker programs blazing away, give them a **edit** badge for being such incredibly talented craftsmen.
They not only slapped us in the face with this one, they disgraced their entire game.
Gee, and stupidme, thinking if I worked hard enough and was nice enough to everyone, help out the new folks and all, a CSR might recognize me and give me a badge for my dedication tothe Musicianprofession. Well, **edit** them, because I don't want one now, I don't want to ever see another CSR in this game, and their stupid badges can go take a flying leap. This has cheapened this game beyond what I previously thought was possible.

I myself have been coveting such a badge, having seen it on some of my friends who are amongst the greatest Entertainers in the galaxy, but I don't want one now. The badges were an honor to get before this, they were something that really meant something to me. Getting that badge after this would be insulting to me, because to me it would mean they are saying Lilo is equivilant to a buffbot. *shudders*
Giving this badge to the buffbot was like giving the Purple Heart to someone who shot himself in the foot. It cheapens the value of the mark for everyone who knows what it is supposed to stand for, and it raises the esteem for a worthless person when people look at the badge having no idea the circumstances behind its reception.
CSRs, Devs, don't even consider trying to give me the credit to profession badge after this. I'll submit ticket after ticket until it is removed from me or until it is removed from the buffbot.
Maybe Galaxies really is deserving of the name Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Away from the Keyboard.

Yeah, I know the part about telling the CSR's and Devs not to give me the badge is pointless since they never visit our boards anyway, but if they ever try pinning me with that badge, they'll be hearing about it long and loud.
