Thread: Devs ask: What can the Devs do for you right NOW?

That is, they ask that question of the Bounty Hunters. Here's the link, and below is my summary of it.

JustG tells the bounty hunters:

  • You'll be getting great things in the Combat Balance

  • We want to make sure you're happy with what you get and are willing to add more for you too

  • We want to fix your profession as soon as we can get changes through TC

  • We're going to rework the skilltrees for you

  • We want things to improve for you as quickly as we can

  • We assure you we're working as hard as we can on your issues

So...smugglers get Devs posting on their forums apologizing for delays, and Bounty Hunters get Devs comforting them and offering them immediate change to help fix "problems" with their profession that were just introduced today.

Meanwhile we sit here in the Music forums without a single Dev post about fixing our issues which have plagued us for nearly a full year. Just further proof the Devs simply...don't...care.

If you feel like that over the BH's then please do not visit the smuggler forum. The Smuggler DEV post there quite often... And JustG is not an exclusive BH dev.

Oh, I know all about the beloved Dev in the Smuggler forums. To tell you the truth, I'm happy for the smugglers, because GM is finally giving them some much-deserved attention, but it has also showed me that the Devs are willing to have peopleassigned to helping a single profession which makes me wonder what happened to our Dev--oh yes, he was assigned to JTL.

What pains me most is that JustG didn't post this in response to problems--the Jedi patch just came live today, there really isn't any idea of how well BH works after the Jedi patch. He posted there to help BH's with problems they don't even have yet and has directly requested their input on what they think should be fixed. Not only that, he has promised them that he will see to getting these changes implemented as soon as possible!

The Jedi are something additional to BH. A Bounty Hunter can still take on the same missions as before and do just as well as ever. We in the Entertainment Community have had issues which make our professions virtually unplayable for months, and there hasn't been anything put in to help counter this. Oh, yes. They're eliminating the hologrind well whoop de ****ing doo. That helps us how? We hated the hologrind from the get-go, but no Devs promised to jump in and help immediately, no they waited for the problem to get worse. Now we have folks macrobuffing and healing. We have a whole slew of people who own second accounts just to get around the "problem" of live Entertainers.

So, what are they doing to help us? Well, they added effects/music droids for Droid Engineers. The only way I've afforded those with my entertainer characters is because I have DE friends who were willing to give me droids for virtually nothing. They are "giving" us extra wound healing capabilities in the FS trees, and again I say whoop de doo. That does nothing to help our real problems. They transfer newbie droid capabilites to NPC's and call it Entertainer content, but this again does absolutely nothing for the professions.

When exactly is JustG, GreenMarine, TH, or any other Dev going to post here in the Music forums and say "Hey, sorry about ignoring you for so long. We want to help you guys out now...tell us what you want and we'll get it on TC and out to live as soon as we can."

*Points to Warplex's posts containing the SOE addresses.* They're going to be hearing from me any day now. They should hear from you too.

*ahem*

Sorry about the little rant there...I'm not just frustrated with the Devs, but also with the way the community itself seems to be fracturing more and more. I waxed on about it a little in the dance forums on a thread that Jeassa closed...probably with pretty good reason.

Anyway, back to my usual tactful self.

Yes I know what you feel, it is irritating that some professions get so much attention. I have only taken up musician recently, however I can se how bad we are off.
My first character on tarq had some novice entertainer because there was not often one to be found in Restus on Rori. And when I cured the BF and wound of visitors they tipped generously and chatted with me during performance.
Bounty hunters are only in "bad shape" when compared to the new Jedis on bounty, or what they so zealously call the end game. But you se... know one but entertainers are hurt by afk'ers or bufbot's, know one is harmed by the lack of tunes and instruments but us, and no other profession is so involved in socialising. It is the belonging to a community, which make people stick around after they run out of contend, and as we are the ones doing the social thing the most we will have a stronger community feel.
A disgruntled musician is far less likely to quit then a disgruntled BH or Jedi, so SoE take care of the BH's and Jedi's.

Well I just hope that Jedi's wil get a lot of BF all the time. That way we can perhaps get a little bit of business. Oh and can we lobby for more powerful mind decides for the CM's?

It's okay bud. We all know what you're feeling. *pats back* It's okay to let it all out once in awhile.

What I don't get, is that I'm seeing the same exact posts of frustrated entertainers. It just shows how committed we are to the exact same problems. And we all have solutions for them too. It's not like a Dev can glance at this forum and NOT see the issues we have. It seems that no matter what we post here, a Dev will not see it. (Case in point Warrywr, our official Musician Dev Pro tempore.) That is why I believe our only way for informing the Devs of any of our problems is via Warplex's post. I myself am quite a fan of tossing bricks through windows with messages attached, but I wouldn't suggest it.

Also, when I first read the title of the thread, I really thought it referred to Musicians. Needless to say I was a little peeved. Silly me, thinking that the Devs could actually do something for us.....

hehe I tend to rant a little too often, but then I've never been one for passive resistance.

Yes, bricks through windows wouldn't be the most mature way to be heard, but sometimes it seems like it might be the only way...I think I'll settle for trying letter writing though.

Ah, yes. I originally had it titled exactly how JustG had his post titled about asking how to help BH's right now, but then I thought better of it and changed to this--cheap trick to get more readers I suppose. Reminds me of the thing about a Britnewspaper printing a headline "High Ranking Official Caught Wearing Womens Clothing!" You flip to page two and learn that they're talking about Margaret Thatcher, but by then you've already bought the paper... (hurrah for Frasier! I loved that show.)

Don't get me wrong, not trying to critisize. Just thought I should share the absolute hopelessness we should feel. Nice trick you got there though!

The devs only care about jedi these days. BH is getting some (well deserved) attention because they are directly tied to jedi in this game.

In the end... the entertainer professions just don't matter to them.

I agree. We don't.

And they will do nothing to persuade us otherwise, so it would seem.

Hell, I've even posted in reply to the 19 Questions threads, and to the Entertainer Quest threads, and never gotten anything regarding my sig. I don't think anyone reads these forums. Do YOU guys read these forums? Is this all actually just computer generated?
