Hi everyone

I have been lurking on the boards for about a week now and decided it was finally time to say hello! I have learned so much and have read allyour opinions and comments whether good or bad. I just want to thank all of you for contributing to these boards.I look forward to reading them daily.

I have discovered musicianship and am officially hooked. I love to play my toon and have alot of fun with her. I have met a few people who frequent the cantina andthey are great. I am still just a noob musician but I love it all the same. Luckily we don't have a big problem with AFKers.

My question is this. I would like to start making my own instruments but can never ever find wood of any kind on the bazaar. Do I have to start a medic to get medical foraging to get my own? Does anyone ever see it on bazaar? Is this something an artisan can get? I am thinking of taking tailoring on the side. My apologies for such a noob question, but I am lost.

Thanks in advance for any input you may have!

Greetings fellow player of songs

I use Evergreen soft wood. I usually have to travel to find some. I always seem to find a stack or 2 of 500 on Coronet on Corellia.

I dont play Bloodfin tho so I'm unsure of resource shifts and such.

Also you have an advantage of hangin at a cantina. When you see folks selling metals and such ask them about what resource you need.

I'm still trying to lock down a player merchant for Alum, steel ,and softwoods.

I check Bazaar daily Stack of 500 I try to pay only 2-3k. I have no clue if thats good or not but those seem to be the best deals I can find.

Good Luck

Wood is on the Bazaar with the bones. Organic structural. It's fairly cheap considering how much it takes to make an instrument and the fact that no one is going to need to grind out slitherhorns.

Hi, and welcome! And yep, to use a Flora Survey Tool, you need Novice Artisan. I think.

Feel free to ask more questions here. Always happy to welcome another Musician to the ranks!

I search for materials by:

Going to Resource Containers> Sort by Resource type by clicking the header of the column> Wood is an Organic Structural. There isnt as many of those types I mostly just see bone and wood.

Its alot easier to just look at the type versusall the various components by the name.

I like to do the same thing for my inventory

When I log in I call up inv> do the change view> then sort via the Type header.

Can ye tell I'm a Virgo

Thanks to all that responded!

I have checked the bazaar and haven't seen any wood yet, but I'll keep checking.

To use a Flora Survey Tool I have to take Artisan tho first? I can't just use it without learning the skill first, right? Sheeesh, total noob here, sorry. hehe

Hello,..instead of starting a new thread, figured I'd ask on this one, heh.

I've been playing in the same cantina since I started,.I think I've seen the outside of Eisley twice heh. Soooo,..I was curious what are the rules for playing outside a cantina,..like camps. Does the level of camp have any effect on my musicmanship skills?

I also heard a rumor about not being able to heal BF outside a cantina. If you have a high enough camp can you do it? Or maybe with a droid like doctors?

Answers to questions:

Original post:

You need novice artisan to use a survey tool. It's a big hastle. It takes a while and the resource return isn't worth it for what you need to do. If anything use it to survey till you find a harvester spot I'd recomend getting ahold of a micro flora farm. You plant the flora farm somewhere (if you're feeling spiffy have an artisan spot a good place for you, but the only difference is the rate of harvesting speed). Either buy power or buy a wind harvester to power it. Use what you need and sell the excess, which should be more than ample to keep it up maintaning wise. Selling extra power seems to do well too. This is the cheapest way to generate decent quantitys of materials, and allows for some profit as well. Depending on the generosity of those around you, the harvesters will cost a maximum of 4k total, you can maintain them long enough to start profiting off of them with less than 6k more.

Random Question:

In camps you can heal mind wounds but not battle fatigue. Better camps will improve the rate slightly. Generally most people will wait until they're healed anyway so I wouldn't sweat it.

yes welcome! Glad to have more happy songplayers to join in! You can either get a deal with an artisan friend, or just get a flora survey device or harvester.( not sure if you have to have novice artisan for the survery device or not). I just have my friends give me the wood since 30 wood isn't that much of a setback for them since they harvest probobly 3k of it a day at least. welcome again!

Just FYI, you will need novice artisan to do your own surveying. However, you can ask other artisans for decent spots (no artisan skills needed to just place a harvester). Chefs might be your best bet, we're always out looking for various flora; including some wood, think about that the next time you sit down for a meal.
