Thread: Entertainer changes in the latest publish
- Added the ability to set a /covercharge for performers.
- Performers can now set themselves to have a cover charge. Use the command /covercharge . You can reset it by /covercharge 0 or null)
- Audience members who "watch" or "listen" to the performer will get a pop up box asking if they wish to pay the cover charge.
- Once the performance is complete, the performer will receive the cover charge funds when the audience member stops listening/watching.
- More than one audience member at a time may pay the cover charge and view the performance.
- Inspirations should give proper experience bonuses now.
- Fixed a typo in the inspiration buff text.
- Extended performer experience rewards to all members of the buffer's band
- Extended experience types affected by inspiration buff.
I like the cover charge idea. We'll have to see how well it works. Not only in functionality but if people actually pay.
I think we should get a list of all the xp types that are increased by inspiration buffs. They've said they've added things several times now, but we have no idea what they all are.

I can think of all sorts of things to test.
- What if the player doesn't have enough money for the buff?
- What if the entertainer stops performing?
- Does this in any way affect our own self-inspiration?
- Does it include BF also?
- Are there any weird things with group interactions?
- Does the money have to be in cash, bank, or doesn't matter?
- Is there a way to listen without benefits if you don't want to pay the charge but just want to hear the music?
Just off the top of my head.
OMG!
That's all I can really say other than.....
Sorry I'll be out all next week, so I can't test any of it.
And Scip,
Those are perfect questions that you thought up. I'll see if I have any more. Knowing the devs, they never thought of any of them.

what if the patron acepts the charge but then gets out of range or shuttles or goes into space. will the charge still go through. I know ive gone a long time without hitting /stoplisten then the buff starts. usualy when i forget to stop listening.
just some thoughts that need to be tested on the test server. Cause if by chance one of the few live performers i know gets gypted. ill be mad. if a bot gets gyped i really dont care.
Personally, I think if this is going to help us, AFK needs to go away.
Otherwise, we're right back where we were - hoping for tips for our benefits, the playerbase wants everything free, and once again we'll have bots who will fulfill our role, absolutely free, and spamming as such.
"Giving it away" was the problem we had with bots.
I would also like to know the plans for elite profession buffs, we still don't have any, but we have the useless skill mod, still.
New stuff is good stuff, but I fear this may return us to the problems we had pre-CU. I hope I'm wrong. I hope I don't see people using bots, now...just to get a cheaper price, or a free buff.
This has possibilties if and only if two things are done with this:
Caps on the covercharge based on skill level.
Covercharge gets turned off if you go AFK.
While this is on test center, lets focus primarily on getting it to work as intended first:
Here are the bugs I have discovered with cover charge so far (/bugged in-game and in the In Testing forum):
- setting the covercharge gives the system message: "trying to add scriptvar"
- removing the covercharge does not give any system message
- when receiving a covercharge from a patron it goes from his bank account to the entertainers cash account, this makes little sense. bank to bank or cash to cash makes sense.
- when receiving a covercharge, the entertainer does not get notified that the transaction took place. A system message where you can see the name of the person that paid the covercharge would be welcome.
- when listening or watching a entertainer you get a popupbox if the entertainer has set a covercharge. The text inside this popupbox has a string error: if the covercharge is 1000 credits for example, the text inside the box says:
null1000null
In general, it has the form nullAMOUNTnull
There is some potential issues with grouping. If an entertainer in the band has not set covercharge, but the others have done so, it means that the patron gets the benefits of listening to the whole band for nothing if he listens to the entertainer without covercharge.
I feel that there should be a separate covercharge (groupcovercharge) for entertainer groups, that the leader can set. Some thought process should be done before proposing a system that would be useful and flexible enough.

now for groups. Have it so the leader can run a macro/script or such. But have it where they can control the instruments in teh band. say /fizzflourish1 makes anyone using a fizz flourish.
This is already possible
/bandflourish 1 slitherhorn
Will make everyone playing a Slitherhorn play flourish 1.
well ill be, guess i missed a bunch of stuff while i was gone =)
