Thread: Episode 3 Discussion
I was quite impressed overall. Some problem spots, of course, but not even on the same level as episodes 1 and 2.
Some specific likes:
The action - lots of good fights
Call me evil, but I liked the extent of the evilness and darkness - and my allegiance to the Empire is not shaken
Most of the emotion worked really well.
Some specific dislikes:
Vader's "Nooooooo!"
The "No, it's because I love you!" stuff. (meh, I guess some sentimental crap had to be in here, and it could've been a lot worse, so not too big a deal)
The droid voices.
Most science inconsistencies I can ignore, but the gravity on the tilting ship bugged me.

One of the things that's always chapped my tush is noises in space battles...in space. Inside a ship would be one thing, but dammit...!
It bugs me a bit, but I can at least understand it, as significantly long portions of a movie without sound would be pretty weird. On the other hand, I was told recently that some show (I think it might have been Firefly) *did* cut the noise for space shots, on purpose, and with good effect. *shrug*
What *does* bug me a lot is how space explosions always happen on a plane, rather than exploding in all directions. Feh.
Irony is the best.
My favorite piece of irony in the movie was the quote by Obi-wan that's in my sig now- not many of my friends caught the irony there, but I totally was thinking in my head "ooh! throw that back in his face, Anakin!"
I loved it!And not just the beginning, but the middle... and the end! All of the manipulations, messages, and conflicts were really well done. Definitely ranks up there with the OT.
I do think the battle droids had a bit too much personality, but it did give more for Artoo to act with. (Who, by the way, nailed his scenes spot on. They should have given him more coffee and illegal stimulants in the rest of the films. :smileyvery-happy![]()
And I could see the physics behind adding Coruscant's gravitational pull on a ship that's not in orbit, but being able to level out the front half of a ship is just not a possibility. ![]()

me little confused here Scip.Did Obi-wan say he supported ATK? Coz unless I have buggy settings that's what I see in your sig ...Didn't see the movie yet, but if Obi-wan is on our side... then WOOT!!!! we are so gonna win!lol ok, I'll stop being silly
LOL
You and I both know that Obi-wan doesn't speak in purply-pink letters; his is the quote below that

Well, the only reason he turned to the dark side was to save Padme. Then after all the evil he did to save her she ends up dying anyway. I'd be pretty pissed. I think they could have done the scene better but it was an ok tie in to Ep V. IMO, Instead of asking about Padme, he should have turned to the Emperor after he rose and said "What is thy bidding, my master". I'm surprised that after all the comercials about that scene, they did it differently. I expected "Lord Vader", "Yes, my master", "Rise", the Imperial March and got music. It was nice music (Imperial March is still better) butI thought it was fine how it was in the comercials.
Ep III overall was amazing. I especially loved when Grevious busts into flames and the Jedi Purge. The Order 66 thing to me was as good as the surprise in Kotor. I knew clones became stormtroopers but I just didn't see it coming after seeing Cody and Obi-wan on U..er..something, whatever that planet was. My favorite scene was when Obi-wan gave Luke to the Lars'. It was as if Star Wars itself was being handed from the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy. However, it felt like at the end that they were rushed for time and tried to explain every continuity issue between the 2 trilogys in 10 minutes. And they never explained C3PO's silver leg. Now its kind of like a twitch like its there and its never going to be explained. *twitch*.
FRANKENVADER! Lol, that is exactly what I was thinking as he stiff-leggedly broke out of those restraints. Too funny. I was expecting him to get loose, but I thought he woulda used the force or something? ![]()
I remember seeing New Hope in my local cinema, after the credits ended I rushed out and bought the soundtrack and the story of Star Wars on vinyl (I still have them). I was completely in love with the story and the characters. That love affair continues to this day...
Episode 1 - I allowed for the fact it was early days in the story.
Episode 2 - I allowed for the slow development of Anakins darkside.
Episode 3 - I saw it in my local cinema (the same I had been to 30 years ago), after the credits ended I rushed out and bought the soundtrack (in the same shop). As I crossed the road I was so choked up inside, I had a feeling I could cry at any second. I was totally blown away by the film. Yes it kinda pushed the tie up a bit quick (...Luke...Leigh naming a bit quick).
Inside, there is a part of me that feels like it has died ... there isa part of my life that feels like it has ended.
