Thread: My solution to the AFK musicain issue (if you are an AFK musican please read)
i had a wild idea, i dont know if the DEVs are going to fix the AFK musican issue any time soon so heres what i thought up.
musican gather in the cantinas of large towns, why? cause more people go there for healing then most cities. well there are often more musican then customers in these cantinas. so why no claim that large city cantinas are only for musican that acctualy care about their profession.
and for the AFK musican, all of you should set up shop in the small towns.
when i first started the game i could usualy always find a couple entertainers in the Kor Vella cantian on coronet. but in recent weeks the cantina has been completly desserted. Kor Vella is my forvoret place to train and its becomes very annyone that after my brutal training schedual i have to take a shuttle to coronet to get my wounds and BF healed.
if AFK musicans and dancers where sitting in the kor vella cantina i would be more them happy to tip them even though they dont deserve it. but at least i would save money and time by not having to use the shuttles to get to a cantina that does have entertainers.
i guess this i a pretty lame solutions, i mean it would only work if the AFK musican deside to take me up on this. but i think its a pretty resonable idea.
I appreciate your concern, but your idea basically says Macrotaining is OK if it's for your own personal good. Put one macrotainer into every cantina and everyone is happy. Wrong. Do you know why a cantina is deserted ? Because there is low demand. Low demand means low reward but high risk. Low reward because of just a few people. High risk, because right now I won't pay a ticket to anywhere just to see there's a macrotainer at work there and the low reward is next to zero with him in place.
( I know, for you fighter types, high risk means risk of death. But what is the risk there, death doesn't cost you anything right now ? )
I know, why don't they all go to the SAME cantina! A designated AFK cantina...it'll never happen. These aren't considerate people. They want xp and tips, so they will park it right in the middle of your cantina, just because they can.
What's your view on Guild sponsored AFK bots in public cantinas ?

i have no idea what those are
>my point is this, AFK macro people are not ok, but we cant get rid of them
Yes we can. And I for my part will complain as long as the DEVs don't get one of the really easy solutions implemented. There will always be AFK people through 3rd party tools, but if you take a look at UO, where in-game macroing isn't possible and 3rd party tool users are banned, there is no such thing as a bot.
AFKers are inconsiderate and downright rude by definition. If they are nice and forthcoming, you won't notice them, because they'd play in their own house or a hotel or theater.
Even if the DEVs do not implement a solution, how about a /reportAfkAbuse comand ? Well, while they are at it... where is /badname anyway ? I could use it on half my server population. If there are guidelines and they aren't enforced, they become a joke.
I have no need for the xp and I get credits doing my missions,But people like my husband who are pure entertainers and have no other viable means of getting credits tips mean alot.
Neither of us have afk/macroed and neither of us have begged for tips. The only issue we have with afk entertainers is the begging for heals/tips that is run in the macro.
If people are not going to tip you begging will not help.
If your an entertainer that needs tips to survive find a planet that has alot of people like dathomir or dantooine and little to no entertainment.
There really is no reason to afk/macro once you have made master,You get better tips being at the keyboard.
but i would like to afk while i sleep that way i only have to sit and do it for several days instead of a week or more when i could be working on my pistoleer and smuggler skills.
Lol... learn a new word every day. Today featuring hypocrisy. You don't macro for your pistol skills, do you ? Why not ? Would it be ok if I macroed my pistol skills by writing a bot shooting anything that moves ( including your mission targets ) ?
Getting xp for free is called cheating in most games. It is forbidden in this one, too, it's just not enforced. Too bad.
you can afk/macro anything in this game
even crafters have a way, it's called harvestors and factories ![]()
A guild sponsored AFK bot like the one belonging to Intergalactic Outfitters on our server who just parks his Droid in the place where I've been for 3 weeks, getting to know everyone, showing interest, generally doing my job by entertaining, their PA hall is not far from that cantina, business really bad since he parked himself there, everyone watches him and probably tip him too because most of the time his AFK flag is not up and hey, he's in a guild and I'm not.
Forget the fact that I saved him about 20k on learning skills, which I had to pay for from the money I got in tips in that cantina. I don't get much in return either, everytime i need a skill he was AFK for hours.

Oh there is a well thought out idea /scoff Now everytime you get a drink /reportAfkAbuse on you. And for the record, since SOE has tried to stop afk playing, all they have done is increase the number of ways to do it. You will not get rid of it anytime soon, so learn to deal with it. Yell all day at the top of your lungs if you want, but it still comes down to you versus a higher population of afk's that are worth more money to SOE than you are. Money, it's always about money and since this forum is about as active as an 80 year old grandma on dialysis, you wonder why musicians get almost no love from the devs.
