Thread: Bored to death, feeling useless...
I'm bored and I'm so fed up talking to people who use their Alt macro master dancer / musician to heal themselves, so I decided to setup a vendor which also turns out pointless since we have a guild on our server that feels obligated to practically give away all instruments to us poor entertainers, BTW I have almost 200k credits that's how poor I am, mostly from entertaining.
So I took up some combat and medic and i'm still bored and useless.
/sigh
Yes, I'm also contemplating quitting this game.
It's just too boring sitting alone in our guild cantina and when I move around I just feel even more useless then sitting in that empty cantina where sometimes people come up with hundreds of HAM wounds and mind wounds / fatigue. And now i'm sitting on a ton of wortless instruments, nobody is ever going to buy them. And I guess the entertainers from my guild are on other servers or other games ![]()
Last night I went to Mos Eisley and did some missions for Lady Valarian but that gets old fast and most of the quests are broken so that kept me busy for an hour or two until I got fed up with it. I found a starting musician there, I should probably go there and help him since he was talking about doing the AFK macro thing because it got so boring in his cantina with nobody coming in for hours.
It reminds me of a conversation I had with someone in Moenia recently, he said "Why are you playing this game if you don't do any combat ?" At the time I responded that sometimes I probably have more fun then him, but that sometimes has been reduced to about 1 hour of fun out of 20+ hours of playing.
It used to be fun all the time, until... Well, that's been said enough on these boards now.
First, 200k isn't poor.
Other than that, try starting a band and doing gigs. Visit the adventure planets and play there. Tag along with a large hunting party. Chill at a player base.
If you're bored, try some other things in the game. No law says Musicians have to play music 24/7. I like performing, but I prefer to do it sparingly, so as not to wear out my welcome -- always leave 'em wanting more.And yes, a real band can make music much more fun. Try coordinatingcostume changes, fire effects, /pauses,solos, comedy routines, dance-music synchronization, whatever.
Are you part of a Player City? It can be fun to help decorate and grow a city. More importantly, if your city establishes a City chat channel, you can have a much stronger sense of place and community. Have you tried Vehicles on Test yet? They are really fast and fun; don't quit until you've tried them. They feel quite Star Warsy. They're going to change this game -- er, if the servers can handle them.
Have you done some rebel or Imperial faction destroy missions? Again, they feel more Star Warsy than regular missions.
Have you considered trying some different professions? Maybe a crafting profession, or combat, or dance, or smuggling, or bio-engineer, or even DE now that droid fixes are coming?Know anyone who might be kind and give you a Holocron? I know, it's probably very difficult for you to acquire one, but if you accompany friends on a holo-hunt, a small but strong group, they might do the right thing and dice for holos or just let you loot one or whatever. There's nothing like a goal to keep one interested, and however awful you may think the holo-camping and holo-grinding is, it *does* give people a purpose.
If none of these thoughts grab you, then maybe you should take a break from the game, do something else for a bit. It's only going to get better over the coming months. I certainly know people who say they'll be back to try the Space Expansion. <shrug> Me, I'm more hooked than ever, but that's me.
Now I have giving up the game too...
Too bad
I got fed up of eternally playing music to very small audiences (read 0 to 2 people), so now I am a Travelling Minstrel, showman and part-time swordsman. I can run combat missions if I like, play our player city cantina for the guys, go hunt with the guys (and not feel like a thrid heal), heal/buff the guys in camps etc.
IMO focussing purely on entertainment proffessions lacks variety (I liked it at the start though). And variety IS the spice of life, or is that Muon =p
Moy
I too am considering dropping musician.
The cantinas that aren't empty are filled with afk-botters, so I serve no purpose performing 'live'. Tips have almost completely disappeared... in the last 3 evenings, I made a whopping total of 1200cr from tips, and that's for 3 hours of playing each night. And that was in a packed cantina. Buffing? I had 2 buffing requests... people seem to want dancer buffs, not musican buffs. The only purpose I seem to fill now is a roving wedding band member.
I finally got my fist holocron yesterday.... Master Artisan. I have to choose between dropping Master Smuggler and Master Musician. Easy decision, unfortunately.

I like performing too but there's not much to coordinate with, my guild is in the USA so they come online just as I log off and besides that I'm the only one of 3 or 4 MM's in the guild that even logs on. One of our members was working on a comedy macro which turned out pretty funny, atleast the part that I saw of it. There's not really much to synchronize with, 99% of the time, all that is left are AFK people and the occasional live entertainer who's too busy making dinner or whatever shortly after I tracked them down, resulting in more AFK people.

Yes, I'm part of Talon, my large house is right next to the cantina... That said, the rest of the town is from the USA and I only see more then 3 people in the weekends, the mayor is too busy with other things and I doubt he'll give me rights to place gardens or statues which he first has to make. Chat channels I never got to work, I got a few invitations the past 2 months, but never got it to work. My computer is old and my harddrive too small to install another version of SWG to try out the vehicles. I tried staying away from faction missions because I don't like being killed by a Imp or Rebel while i'm walking to a cantina trying to help other people.

I tried crafting alittle, it's even more boring then playing music in a empty cantina and my efforts at setting up a Instrument vendor is destroyed by some "respected" crafters guild who practically give every instrument away for free. No holocrons for me, I hear those caves are swamped with powergamers who kill steal and ripp off just for a holocron they can sell for millions.

I was looking at Final Fantasy since I am a fan of the other FF'sI played, but sadly being in Europe means FF isn't out yet. The Space Expansion probably won't have any bit of interest in it for me, since the main reason I got this game is because I like Star Wars but I wasn't looking for another point and click shoot 'm up. This game sometimes is just like a single player game without any interactivity from NPC's, sure sometimes when I'm shooting creatures and I run past NPC's that shout "You should be more carefull with that gun, might cause trouble" but once you've seen that, you've seen that.
For a RPG this game is pretty shallow too, I can walk around in character for hours while others don't even respond or look at me as if i'm nuts when I /yell R2 where are you ?
Then again, I saw a character named Hitler in this game, shouting his propaganda, discussions in the cantina about Wacko Jacko's latest child offence, I've seen most characters from Star Trek running around, I even saw some from Babylon 5. Then there's the ton of character with sexually tinted names or people shouting **edit**ey suckey 1000 credits ?
I agree.. being a master elite entertainers really does spend most of their time being bored.. If I see 1 or 2 people and hour to heal, I'm doing lucky.. UNLESS, you want to count 1 of the 3 major hubs in the galaxy, other then that, cantinas are a ghosttown.. With the use of faction pets, CH pets and so on being used as tanks, most people do NOT take wounds..
Early on, when I started playing since Day 1,, there was always plenty of people to heal.. Why? Most people were NOT advanced enough to own tanking pets.. People took damage.. Now, Pets take the damge and they don't need an entertainer to remove the wounds.. If they truely want want to help out us entertainers in this reguard.. MAKE the sting of combat harder.. Make it so that Pets and PC's take HUGE amounts of wounds.. Make it so that doing Trick1 or trick 2 doesnt' remove mind wounds.. and make it so that PC actually starts taking some damge in the wound department.. I know for myself I can spend a single night (4 hours) doing destroy missions in a group and or solo, and I won't even have more then 50 BF, and 20 wounds in all areas... UNLESS I got sloppy in combat..

This saddens me cause you seem like a positive person and a conciensious entertainer tho we are on different servers.
I have hopes that with shuttleports and commerce cities might see more people.
Though I suspect this will take time if it happens at all.
There was a time when if we were slow I could always head to the big city for some laughs and things.
But as we know the entertainer community has pretty much lost Coronet and Theed to the players who use this profession as a Bot, Holotainers etc and so on.
We are becoming less and less.

Jedi,
As much as I respect you, we have an issue here and your ummmm.... glazing the dounut.
Sugar coat it all ya want bud, just because we got some diehards doesnt mean this whole line isnt dieing a slow death.
Saying getting a Band is easy I guess for you. It isnt for some of us. Harder still to keep it.
I'd love to pursue more of my gunslinger line but I dont have any points.
Now then I hate to call you on this but I'm going to.
There was a post here from a player of some noterietyadmitting to only using her Musician as a bot.
Your attention to her issue was illustrated by your replies. I got no issue with that but.....
I request this same attention be placed on our class and it's issues.
No sugar coating budwe got a problemhere and it's only gonna get worse.
We are becoming useless and I can count the amount of masters active on one hand.
Dont hand me the P.C. answer, I'm not havin any of that. You know it, alot of us know it.
I know you cant do miracles, but if ya can move on an issue for a players using us as a bot, I'd say you can pursue this.
Buff's are great and dam good but until it is unable to afk us, it means diddly. I could care less if someone is unable to use us as a bot to power there way thru the game..
Gimme a freakin break!
Straight up here's what I'm askin for.
I'm not looking for suggestions on how to enjoy the game, I'm a big boy and can handle that... I'm looking for an acknowlegement of this and what yourtrying to doto fix it, specifically,.... not some PC rhetoric that the devs are looking into this .....yada yada blah blah![]()
Our boards Dead , how about a Bi-weekly update to this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Denisa,
I think I can relate currently I have no answers.... the ability to afk has got to go.
If it doesnt sadly we are useless.
Sure I'm getting alot more gigs cause theres so few of us, but its not that same as when we had a nice respectable amount of performers out there.
And the times when I was bored I could walk into Theed and catch my friends jamming and kick it with them.
Intrepid has the Jam Bonanza this Saturday come visit I'll get you a front row seat![]()
Oh and unless I'm working with a band or doing gigs I'm playing my TKA on SS.
Not a fix but its more fun then sittin alone in a Cant.
Oh and your not useless![]()
We are just in a slump!!!
I'm still waiting to hear why a vendor with a few dozen instruments on Naboo has utterly and completely destroyed your ability to set up your own vendor on Corellia. If you can explain to me how this is so, I'll be very impressed, especially considering the fact that it isfar from the only instrument vendor already on the server.
Please, enlighten me.
I won't even go into the fact that vendors are owned, operated, and maintained by *individuals*, not guilds, but whatever.
Felton,
If you've read the thread I made about me opening a vendor you will know immediately why it would be pointless. For the price of 1 Chidinkalu horn a musician can just buy a ticket naboo and buy each instrument for 100 credits each and be off cheaper and they never ever have to buy another instrument. Instruments don't decay, there's no xp loss on 1% experimentation instruments, songs don't sound worse either, so basically your 1 vendor is killing of everyone else.
Sorry, but nobody can compete with a Traz or a Chi horn for 100 credits, your argument would hold if your vendor was on Yavin 4 or another expensive planet, but it's not.
And just between us, does Shak'it own it or do you ? Because I seem to remember another thread I made where I asked what I needed to setup a vendor and your guild member made it clear that I had to drop my master music OR master entertainer to own a vendor.
Tell me, do these other instrument vendors have any sales ? Because everytime I check the bazaars I see the same instruments by the same musicians for the same prices...
