Thread: Silence form the Devs speaks volumes.
Anybody else think it is interesting that not one of our 4 classes.....Entertainer, Musician, Dancer, or Image Designer have had any response from the Devs?
Has anyone seen anything ANYWHERE explaining what went wrong with the Patch not fixing our bugs and adding new ones?
I know other professions have not gotten responses to their first Top Five Issues but has an ENTIRE branch been ignored as completely as our branch as a whole? (Forgive me if this is true for I did not look under every profession)
Here is an interesting thought........On 7/22 NewJedi became music Correspondent and I applaud him for that. But that job was originally stated as lasting 1 month. Will we be getting a new Correspondent before we get answers to our first Top Five List?
I don't think there are any Entertainment Branch Developers. They are the Loch Ness Monsters of this game, people hear about them but noone has any proof they actually exist.
Dang, i checked the spelling of everything but the darn title!
Form=From
The bugs and lack of features don't prevent other players from doing their thing. They DO prevent basic enjoyment and fulfillment for those on the fence about Entertaining, but there's a whole slew of other options out there, both ingame and out.
So while I share the feeling that we're an ignored profession right now, I think I agree with the Devs on why. They don't have unlimited resources and my enjoyment of the profession is entirely voluntary. I'd rather have them prevent insta-healed AT-STs and infinitely stored pets (both new bugs) because those can affect alot more players than the /changemusic bug.
If we got bugged and stopped healing Mind Wound and Battle Fatigue altogether, you can be darn sure the Devs would take notice
It could be that they feel there is less wrong with the entertainer professions than most of the other ones. I would agree with that. Sure we have our glitches. And the content is somewhat lacking, but overall the professions are working as intended.
I get the feeling the entertainer professions fall more under the umbrella of LucasArts than SOE. My suggestion is have patience. Kevin promised responses for each profession and both Kevin and Raph are hammering as much as possible to get them.
As for the correspondent...Kevin said that it might bearound a monthly rotation. But those who do well would stay longer, those who flake would stay less. I don't think it was ever meant to always change every month (that would be too much work to manage 32 correspondents every month). Besides, NewJedi is doing a great job. ![]()
I have no problem with NewJedi and i think he does a fine job with what he is given, but how much time would it take out of a busy Dev's day to write the following:
"Hey guys, thanks for your patience. We see the probs and are working on them. Have a nice day"
That took me 10 seconds.
Let's put it another way. Hey devs give us all the instruments lights and dances at Master Entertainer and just do away with the whole "ELITE" Musician and Dancer classes. Let us get on with our lives as marksmen of artisans or whatever. It will save them alot of time and prolly memory too. Call the dancer and music professions just a failed experminet that uses up too many skill points.
I do not include ID in this because all in all that skill seems to be important to people.
Ok, not to sound uppity,Regman...but the fact that we are the only people who can heal BF and mind wounds isn't important? I think it is.
Yes, anyone can go out and pick up Novice Entertainer...but how long before they need to surrender it for more skill points?
As for your idea on stopping Elite-elite Dancer/Musician professions....I actually agree. Just add more music and dances, and there's no need for an Elite-elite. I have Master Entertainer. I'm working towards Master Dancer, and I'm going to start working towards Master Musician as well. But...I'm working towards this with 23 points left! Which means Scout and Medic are probably going down the drain, as are my Artisan Skills. If I surrender my Marksman(Pistol Specialist, nearly Pistoleer, nearly Ranged Weapon Support Specialist), I'll have no chance in HECK outside of the cantina. And hunting missions are my income. So yes, I agree that we don't need Elite-Elites, just more content to what we already have, but fixes to the bugs we have first.
Due to lack of edit button. I misread your post. I'm against adding Elite-Elite's. I'm not sure how I feel about getting rid of Musician and Dancer, though.
I do think the Techniques tier is a waste of space. Stick the lights in the same column you get the dances. Put something else in the newly-vacated column. What could go there, though, I'm not quite sure yet.
I'm confused now but i think we agree? LOL i didn't want to derail my own post but when i see entertainers saying "Oh the gig missions are ok we are not important anyway"and then i see that no dev takes the time to post in any of the entertainment forums (also saying oh its ok they are not important anyway) it makes my blood heat up a bit.
Where is the Professional pride? I am a proud Master Musican darn it and i want updates that say bugs are fixed to be fixed. The patch update notes are a complete joke we all know it but we all just say "Oh well we aren't important let them fix PVP for awhile........" Well we do that and we might as well just give up the profession and let the medics heal blue too.
Other than rangers, no support classes have gotten a response. No medics, no other types of scouts. I don't really see it as a glaring omission that no entertainers have been responded to. I just see it as they are trying to figure out how they should be responding. They are new at this and all.
Besides, they are saving the best for last. At this rate, by the time they respond to us, they will have worked up to publishing whole novels telling us that they are going back to motion capture to give us 10 new dances per level, musicians will be able to compose songs in addition to the numerous more they add, and image designers will.. umm.. think of something..
Okay, that last part was in jest.. But my point is.. If we'd just gotten a response in the first batch, or even the second.. It would have been disappointing. The devs have realized the responses are not what is wanted by the player base. So they are revisiting it and giving the remaining classes a much better response. We should be glad they are getting the kinks out with other classes and saving us for after they are good at giving decent responses.
I do see your point, and I hope you are right.
I just don't understand that big patch that stated plainly about the fix to the /change command and the entering on the wrong song problem. I know it doesn't kill us or make us lose money or anything. But it didn't work. Even thoI believe they are working on it,if youjust read whatSOE has written as far as they are concerned there is no problem and the patch worked fine. From their statements they put in the patch and we are all dandy. I just like a bit of give and take is all between the players and the Devs.
Hey maybe they are working ongiving us Tuxedos to make up for all this
I too am looking forward to the devs' replies to our top-five list. As Tiaga said, entertainers are not the only professions still waiting. If I hear anything at all, I'll let you all know as soon as possible.
A question about the /change bug. I never use /change because it doesn't fit my style of playing, though I have been in bands that insist on using it. It did seem to work when my bandleader used it the other day. We /changed several times with no problems. ButI take it from your comment that it's still broken in some way? I apologize for not testing it more thoroughly myself; I strongly prefer to /stop and /start a song, as musicians do in real life. If I had my druthers, there'd be no /change at all.
I do agree that the join-while-playing-another-song bug was not fixed by the big patch. That bug doesn't bother me all that much since there are easy workarounds, but it is admittedly annoying. And now /start isn't working right either. The /start bug bothers me more than either /change or the join bug, because I do use /start.

In truth the /change bug is the same as ever. Really i enjoy using it when playing solo so its not that big a problem. Sometimes you just have to switch that tune fast to not go insane and you con't have to stop healing when you use /change. Also in truth until the intros are fixed on startband (they do not sound right ever) its also not that big a deal. Just an annoyance.
But i still insist its aBIG deal to read that something is fixed over a week ago and to find it is not fixed with no further response from the Devs. If one took them just from what they type, they really don't give a darn or they still think it is fixed.
Thats all really. oh PS i think they should take mind wounds and BF off of the /diagnose command if we are not allowed to have it. Job Pride is #1.
I'm actually not taking my own advice well. I'm beginning to get a little impatient and anxious for a response so we can move on to the next round of problems to address.
