I was giving a fellow player a musician buff who was grouped with me. We had group after I had /setperf'd them. After the usual 5 minutes I take, they /stoplisten and something really strange happens. I was really confused at first.2 note icons appeared in my modifier window. It is seems, that I had somehow managed to give myself a buff. Mind you it wasn't a full buff, but it was still a buff. Timer on it was 30 min. Could this be a hidden perk to some of the changes recently made?

Every couple of months or so I'll hear of a situation where it seems a musician has buffed his/herself. I've never been able to duplicate it. In all the testing of the last couple of nights, I've not experienced or heard of anyone else managing to buff themself. This doesn't appear to be a side effect of the changes brought about by the patch..just an occasional anomaly.

Well I will echo Esharra in that we have heard of this before and tried to duplicate to no avail, BUT....
This last patch has messed up so many things that it needs to be revisited. I was able to get a dance buff while performing. I still need to try to repeat it. With all that oddities we should test all aspects all over. We need to check for Self buff bugs, stacking, banking, speed exploits...... everything.
I'll see if I can duplicate this. Were there any other factors? Were they also getting a dance buff? Was anyone else in your group buffing?

This is a true story,
Once while in Lake Retreat on the island, I /setperform on a Kaadu to see if there would be any kind of reaction from it. After playing some jazz to it for a little while and seeing no reaction, I stopped playing and noticed I recieved a full music buff.
Others tried to duplicate it with even other animals to no avail.
