It sounds to me that you're picking up buffs from the other musicians in the group...

The reason someone doing /stoplisten triggers your buff is that /stoplisten (And /stopwatch for dancers) will stop you from listening to yourself. Stopping listening to a musician is what triggers a buff. If you have one stored that never took (For example from listening to a group member to see what the song was) that will trigger it.

But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies

Exactly what I've been suspecting is happening in the rare cases we hear about.

Yup, I am guessing that as well. I had started listening to him to hear what song they were playing. and then started playing myself. When I inspected the buff stats, it was really low. Something a Novice would give and sure enough, they were a novice.

I've been on it. I had to move away from exploit testing once we started getting a real handle on what was going on with dance buff failures, but I've done quite a bit along these lines as well.

Agree though... when something changes with entertainer buffing code, it's a good idea to get as many testers as possible reviewing everything about buffing. The more heads we have working on these things, the more stuff we find.

Happened to me tonight. Was getting mind buffs and typed /stop listen. I get a message saying you stop performing or something then the musician stopped playing. I tried to do /start music and it said you don't know that song. Bugged it too. Repeated it later on as well.

What happened to you is that you were not doing the correct commands. "/stop listen" with a space is actually just "/stop" which is short for "/stopband". This command stops all musicians from playing. The appropriate command is "/stoplisten" with NO space. The same is true for "/start music" again being actually "/start" or short for "/startband". If after the /stopband someone's macro has started them playing music and selected a song and you try to do a "/start" it will try to join the song being played. If you do not have the skill for the song, then that will be the message you will get.

I don't know if anyone else has brought this up as a bug, but anyone in the group can use the /stopband command, anyone. They don't even have to playing music, but sure enough the command gets used and all the musicians stop. Highly annoying.

On the first post, I had not been playing with any group the whole day. There would have been no possibility of a stored buff.
