Sorry, but I love the Stormtroopers. It adds a nice feel... I love it. Just today I was in a cantina and a Stormtrooper walked up to me and called me a drunk (which ironically I was drinking). It made me laugh, it was great. Then he started insulting the Rebellion and all that, it really felt like something a Stormtrooper would do.
I hope they continue and don't take out the troopers like they did when they had them in the Imperial Crackdown.

Anyhow, I'm off the forums before I make people hate me even more.

Issue: SPAMMING NPCs in Cantinas

Professions affected: Entertainers

Why oh why did you devs decide to make npcs(in this case imperial troopers) go into public major citycantinas to SPAM to the point ofbeing evenmore annoying than theirsad relatives --theafk bots --that plague every server? It doesn't add anything but noise to spatial chat. They claim to inspect things but don't do anything. Sorry, but that'snot addinggame content. That's what you call addingannoying chatter for non-PVPers, aka the dancers and entertainers.

What'seven more annoying is the fact the NPCs crowd into the cantina and ruin whatever semblance of a show the entertainers are putting on. OK,from an outsideperspective, this"addition"could be a plusin that it reflectsan active Empireand its attitudeas being "trueto the spirit of the Empire"in that they walk over people. However, since the troops don't do anything except spam (from a civilian point of view), I have to ask: What is the point? Since they (the npcs)can ruin a show, then at least give theaffected parties (entertainers) a chance to counter the action.

TheNPCs talk about"papers", yetthey don't exist. Therefore it's notneeded. They talk about rebels, yetthey say the same thing even when no rebels are actually around. Therefore either linkit to the actual presence of rebels or take it out. Stop putting things in game thatdo not make sense or are disjointed in the very fact they are not interactive for all professions in some way.

This is a blatant and poorly masked attempt to appease the PVP crowd exclusively. May I ask why? The people that are trying to salvage your broken game (the entertainers and non-combat professions) get zero support. If you want this game to be Quake with Rancors, then put it on the box and on your website and be done with it.

Here's a chat log I just made:

[Spatial] 06:23:09 "HQ doesn't have a record on you.", RK-705 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says. "Vagrancy isn't against the law here, but if you so much as make one wrong move I'll haul you in."
[Spatial] 06:23:27 "I have more respect for a rockmite than for a Rebel. At least the rockmite doesn't know any better. Maybe you Rebels don't either.", RK-705 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says.
[Spatial] 06:23:45 "I can't believe some of the noble families have aligned themselves with the Rebels. Just goes to show you how spoiled they really are.", RK-705 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says.
[Spatial] 06:24:03 "We got reports that some of the Rebels are in hiding.", RK-705 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says. "Exactly what I would expect from a group of cowards."
[Spatial] 06:24:04 "This is patrol.", VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says. "I'm going to check the cantina."
[Spatial] 06:24:13 "This is an Imperial inspection. Cooperate and you will not be harmed.", VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says.
[Spatial] 06:24:20 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "You there! I don't think I've seen you before."
[Spatial] 06:24:20 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "You there! I don't think I've seen you before."
[Spatial] 06:24:20 "You there!", VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says. "I don't think I've seen you before."
[Spatial] 06:24:21 "We've had reports of Jedi in the area. If you see a Jedi report him to the local Imperial authority. You may be detained for questioning, but it will be brief.", RK-705 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says.
[Spatial] 06:24:30 "Who are you looking at, huh? Let me see your papers!", VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says.
[Spatial] 06:24:33 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "These papers look like forgeries. Your breath stinks. You're drunk aren't you?"
[Spatial] 06:24:34 "You're a drunk and you can't even manage to explain why the sixth stamp is missing from your papers?", VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says. "Don't make any sudden moves. I'm going to call this in."
[Spatial] 06:24:41 "I hear Princess Leia is in league with the Rebels.", VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says. "Doesn't surprise me, I never did trust her."
[Spatial] 06:24:54 "Well, everything checks out.", RK-705 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says. "If there are any Rebels in here they're stinking cowards who won't stand up for their own pitiful cause."
[Spatial] 06:24:59 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "My job would be much more pleasant if I didn't have to deal with stinking Rebels."
[Spatial] 06:25:06 RK-705 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "Back to my post..."
[Spatial] 06:25:17 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "We've had reports of Jedi in the area. If you see a Jedi report him to the local Imperial authority. You may be detained for questioning, but it will be brief."
[Spatial] 06:25:35 "This music is subversive. With any luck the Emperor will pass a decree shutting places like this down.", VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says.
[Spatial] 06:25:53 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "The way people in these cantinas dress disgusts me."
[Spatial] 06:26:11 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "The only thing about Rebels that I like is...nevermind, I don't like anything about Rebels."
[Spatial] 06:26:29 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "This music is subversive. With any luck the Emperor will pass a decree shutting places like this down."
[Spatial] 06:27:02 "Well, everything checks out. If there are any Rebels in here they're stinking cowards who won't stand up for their own pitiful cause.", VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says.
[Spatial] 06:27:15 VK-133 (an Imperial stormtrooper) says, "Back to my post..."

In a 4 minute period two spam troopers came in and spammed the cantina, in an unignorable way, 24 times. That's an average spam rate of once every 10 seconds!!! I've had CSR's disconnect toons for spamming less than that, and I could ignore them! This is not only ridiculous, it's completely unacceptable. This isn't immersion, it's harassment.

I think this spam will decrease as the rebels learn to avoid the imperial cities, and vice versa.

No, it won't, these ST's spaming this were in a rebel controled city. The ST's spawn at the door, come in, don't actually scan or do anything but stand there and spam for a few minutes, then leave and despawn at the door. It has nothing to do with any actual rebels being there, they just spam and spam and spam.

So let me get this straight....

You are complaining that the bar (cantina) you are in is loud and noisy? Sounds about right to me.

So let me get this straight - you ENJOY having your Chat box looking like a slot machine that never stops tumbling?

And, let me guess - you enjoy standing in Coronet amongst the barkers and spammers, and holding a conversation with a friend.

Riiiiight.

"loud and noisy" is one thing.SPAM ATTACKS are another.

One of people's main complaints about NPC cantinas is they're too spam-filled, and now even the NPC's are against us.

I was in a hotel just yesterday for several minutes. It was quiet. No NPCs came in and only one or two other players (going to the event planner).

I've always preferred playing in a hotel, if I had to choose a venue within a major city's limits. It's usually quieter, and you get a proper stage (for musicians, anyway...not really big enough for dancers).

And you can even /register in them now.

I've reported it as a bug that these ST scans are happening pretty non-stop, and put in that the spam is pretty excessive (in particular, that the phrase "You there! I don't think I've seen you before." is being spoken multiple times at the same time). While I'm sure that the ST's are designed to have a presence in the cantinas, I can't imagine that the design is for them to be in there non-stop.

Has anyone checked out the Hotels and Theaters, to see if they are also getting the constant raids? If the devs just do nothing about this, a change of venue may be in order.
