So is anyone actually using them? I'm a DE on Wanderhome and have been building some, but it seems to me that there's no market for these guys.... as a part-time musican myself I thought they'd be a great idea - and I've used them a few times myself... So does anyone ELSE use them? Just wondering....

I use them. I myself own two. I try and keep them stocked on my ent vendor they sell fairly ok. Tends to go in spurts. I can go a week or two with out selling any droids and then the next week they all go bye bye.

I use my MSE playback droid all the time. In fact I want an Adv. R3 with one for the bigger HAM.

I use my playback module all the time. Really helps when you're doing a solo performance to avoid being in a group with 20 macrotainers. Really fills out each tune if you use it right.

I use mine literally every time I have longer than a 2 minute starport wait. Impromptu starport show to pass the time, whether I'm alone or there's an audience.
I've also taken it to Mos Eisley to give some of the brand new entertainers an idea of just how cool the music can sound. Bandfill on the droid, I play mandoviol, and even the early songs start sounding a thousand times better in there. I like to think that some may not give up on music so easily, if they just know it's not always SW1 on a slither.
And recently, I've been using it as a songwriting tool. WhenI write, I like to do so alone, and away from distractions. The playback droid gives me the chance to test different arrangements. Once I hear my idea working with two key instruments, it's just that much easier to work in the next parts.

Same here. I have two of those droids, one with all entertainer songs, one with all musician songs (+ceremonial again) played on the Omni Box. That really adds some depth if playing alone on assorted instruments. Other professional entertainers I have met are also usuallyusing them, if they know they exist.

I use my musician assistant droidall the time. Like many here, I alsohave two. Both of mine are R3 units with the full complement of 6 playback modules. I use the one for a 25 minute musicalshow that I've worked out, while the other I plan to use as a more general 'accompaniment droid' for standard cantina gigs.
If only you were on Starsider, I'dgiveplacean order with youfor an effects droid. I haven't been able to find anyone who stocks a fully loaded R3 effects droid for less than 100, 000 credits. From what I've been told, they should sell for 50,000crand still make a profit, so I don't really like the idea of paying more. Heck, I can buy a medium house for 50K, so I don't see why a droid should cost more.
Sorry, I guess I started rambling onabout costs, lol. It's my current 'bee in the bonnet'.

I use mine all the time. In fact, there were 3 of them going in the cantina last night. I usually have mine play Ommni box if noone is playing bass. I often use it to play mando too. Both me and my droid play mando and I use /bandflo <#> mando to flourish. That way, you can actually hear the mando over the horns.

Yes I use mine all the time. An R3 with 3 music and 3 light effects for general performance and an all music module for music focus. Depends on the song I'm playing, most I have the droid playback an omni or bandfill and some it plays the kloo horn .
And yes it is a great way to not group with macrotainers.

all the time....I won't even think about playing a song unless I have Juke there to back me up, especially if I'm in a group of newb musicians.

As with most droids, unfortunately, once you buy one you don't have to buy another one, which is probably the problem. However, to answer your question, yes, there's a huge market for them. Almost every musician or dancer I know has an entertaining droid and picks one up at Novice. So, you're basically trying to sell to the new novices in these professions.
Drygo has 2 effects droids and one playback droid. C'erulean also has an effects droid. I'm sure whenever Eedae gets to Novice dancer, he will also get an effects droid. I'm actually considering getting Drygo another playback droid as well because the one he has has the maximum 6 songs. And, I'd like to pick up another so I can record the other songs that I play, and maybe even put other instruments on them besides the bandfill. I mainly use the one I have now as bass back up.

I'm both a DE and a musician and I use the things all the time. Every time I stop by a cantina and a see a musician, I try to make a sale.

Well thanks all of you for your comments - seems I'm the only one on Wanderhome however that's doing this - I've spent hours and $$$ hitting some of the "high traffic" spots to try and get people interested in them to no avail... such is life in SWG however! Guess I'll just have to fill up my house with them....
