Thread: Playback Modules?

I bummed an advanced R3 Droid with six playback modules off a guildmate, for free. It is very nice to have, not so much for the grind but it does nicely to fill out your group.

I use mine when I go to Espa late at night/early morning to play by myself. As was said before, it really deepens the sound a lot and you don't have one single intrument burning a hole in your eardrums. I think I need to upgrade to one with 6 modules though, probably a few of em.

There was some rude guy complaining that FX droids cause lag, going on how he hated cantinas and such. So I switched my FX droid to Mind Fog on a 3 sec delay and said, "chase." Ah that felt good.

I have a 6-song R3, but my favorite is an LE repair droid with only 3 playback modules. I set him on narrow patrols inside a nalragon, and he actually thrusts his arms and such so he looks like he's actually playing the thing. One guy walked up to him and just stared and stared. I told him LE was grinding for Jedi, and leave him alone.

What coomand is 'Chase'? And how do you get the droid back if it chases someone?

It should be the default, "chase." But you can check the droid's commands in your datapad for yourself, or just program in what you'd like. To get it back, either just store it on your datapad or try /screaming, "follow," or in my case, " get the F! back here!"

anyway, back to the subject of playback modules

I have a droid that can hold only a single track and it's annoying as the worst buffbot you've ever seen...I hate having to record a new song on him every time I want to switch songs. If I could go back and do it again, I would have the DE make me a droid with 4 playback modules and 2 effects modules just so I wasn't constantly having to record music to the droid.

The command is titled 'follow other' I believe. Probably the simplest way to get it back would be to store the droid in the datapad and then just take it out again.

Yeah, it's definately useful to have at least two tracks, so you don't have to constantly switch re-record songs. However, something like 4 is overkill I think.

Hehe, I'd like more than 6 tracks. But that's why you can own 5 droids, I guess.

Before I dumped master entertainer, I filled up one droid with mandoviol tracks.

I have two droids with six playback modules each. Six is still too few for me. If I'm playing my 25 minutegig I have to either run out of the cantinain the middle and get my second droid, or I have to play four of thesongs without accompaniment.

Yeah, for most people, 4 would probably be overkill, but I'm a huge fan of SW2, Folk, Ballad, and Jazz. They are the songs I play most often and I'll often switch between them without stopping (because of the 15 second pause). If I could have more than one song at a time on my droid, I could just use /changeband and not have to worry about waiting to start up again.

Another great thing about having extra modules is that I'd be able to record the same song with different voices so I could switch instruments depending on what I felt like playing without having to ever stop the music entirely. (although this reason isn't as important to me as being able to use /changeband to go to different songs)
