Thread: Buffing ins and outs thread, FAQ
With Entertainers being able to buff now I figured I'd start a thread solely for Buffing!!!
What I've gathered so far is:
Musicians buff Willpower and Focus
Dancers buff Mind
What I don't know is "HOW" to do it and I've heard a rumor only Masters can??
Please add anything on Buffs to this thread!!!
If you go to the dancer forum, Ravenmist has stickied a thread about this topic. All you have to do is to replace "dance" with "song/instrument" and "mind" with "willpower/focus" and you'll have all your questions answered.
The short version is that there are two buffs.
There is a targeted buff that affects one person whom you choose with the /setperform command. That person receives a buff whose value is dependent on your "music mind enhancement" skill (from the technique line). The duration of the buff is determined by the tune/instrument you play (from the knowledge line) and from the number of flourishes you do. Your max duration will occur after the person listens for about five minutes.
There is also a group buff. This affects anyone in your group who listens to you. It takes longer to apply than the targetted buff but it potentially affects everyone in your group simultaneously.
If this is a targetted buff... do we have to keep the recipient targetted? If so, how do we do it while playing the omni or nalargon?

I also posted a thread about this buff in this forum, but maybe I should've stickied it. Anyway, here are some answers:
1. The first version of the buff is "targeted": you mouse-click on any player, then type /setperform, then start playing. After five minutes or more, the target should type /stoplisten or choose stop listen from the radial menu. Once the listener stops listening, he or she will have a two hour buff of double the Focus/Willpower stats.
2. No, you don't have to keep the player targeted in order to confer the targeted buff. Thus, if you're using a nalargon, target the player; type /setperform; target the nalargon; and start playing. This worked for me on Test Center, anyway.
3. The second version of the buff is "passive". You can confer this on anyone in your group who /listens while you play; you don't use /setperform for this. But the listener must be grouped with you -- or at least that was the case on Test Center. In this case, the listener needs to listen for about 20 minutes to get a two hour buff, though on Test I got a three hour buff once. Again, the buff doesn't kick in until the audience member /stoplistens.
4. Both buffs oftenBORK THE WILLPOWER and other stats. In at least one case I tested tonight, one listener lost 250 points to both Willpower and Focus after the buff wore off. Fortunately, her problem was temporary; logging for six hours cleared it. But still, you should warn recipients of temporary stat problems after the buff wears off, perhaps even during its duration.

Just a quick question...
Canwe /setperform on multiple targets at once or can we only buff one person at a time?
Thanks ![]()
Nope, we can't buff ourselves. And nope, /setperform can't be used on more than one target at a time.
I assume every Musician would like the ability to buff themselves, right? That's the message I'm planning to convey to the devs unless I hear anything to the contrary. ![]()
The buff problem happened to me with only a Musician buff last night. I grouped and listened to a Musician who had 75% mind enhancement skill. When I did /stoplisten after 10 minutes my Focus and WIllpower went from 500/500 and 900/900 to 500/875 and 900/1575 respectively. They never regenned, even eating an Air Cake and taking on/off armor didn't help.
After 90 minutes the buff wore off and I went to 150/500 and 150/900 in Focus and Willpower. What a nightmare as a Master Doctor! It's back to normal this morning but I had to log off early last night as the game was unplayable for me. No more Musician buffs for me till some fixes go in.
