sorry for this noob question just i am helping a m8 get master for a pa city wanted to if there is any diffrence =/ between the 2 buildings .......

and wouldnt they just do the same **edit** thing heal mind and battle fat! =/

i believe that they look very different in layout. functionally they perform the same. I have only seen the cantina so far and the layout is pretty cool. i havent seen the theater but i hear its quite big. I'm looking forward to it.

Well, I haven't tried registering in a Theatre yet, but I know you can't do it in a Hotel...and I would imagine you can't in a Theatre either. Neither is on the Planetary Map. But a Cantina is. Registering your location is a good thing, 'cause for those who know how to look, it tells them that a Musician/Dancer is on duty there. And folks just expect to go to aCantina. All the other locations where fatigue and mind wounds can get healed basically never see any traffic.

There are several differences.

1. Last I tested them on Test Center, player theaters were buggy. I couldn't heal or buff in the "outdoors" part of the theater -- only backstage. Mind you, this was a couple weeks ago; I don't know if those bugs have been fixed yet. Cantinas, by contrast, work fine.

2. A cantina takes 5 lots; a theater, last I checked, takes only 3.

3. Theaters are mostly "outdoor" venues, and when I last tested them on Test, they seemed to behave like rooftops: I could play chid horn or bandfill there, but not ommni or nalargon. I can't place the ommni and nala on the ground. Again, this may have changed in the past couple of weeks, but not that I've heard.

4. If they both work, then yes, they'll serve the same basic function. They just look quite different. Personally, I'm partial to the cantina. I think it's one of the neatest buildings in the game.

If all you see is that they do the same thing then you'll never see the difference between them. There is a huge difference though. That's like asking if there is a difference between the nightclub down the street and the theater downtown. (No, not the movie theater) You can see dancing and hear music at both of them, after all.

Entertainers can't heal in Theatres.

Player Theatres require 3 lots opposed to 5 for the cantina

but in the cantina entertainers can heal people. And there is a bar.

Theaters are most definately places you can heal. The other day I was by Theed and needed some BF and mind wounds healed, so I stepped into the theater and played a little music to take care of them.

Actually you can register in theaters (PC and NPC) and both theaters andhotels are on the planetary map. The fact that you can't register in a hotel is IMO a bug. Theaters are kind of hidden though... They are entertainer guild halls.. So look under Guild Hall on the planetary map.

No, theaters don't heal twice as fast as cantinas or hotels. In fact, a few of them are bugged so that they don't heal at all.

I'm not sure what Amythen is driving at by drawing parallels between theaters and civic buildings in terms of healing.
