Thread: I feel dirty
I kinda stumbled into musician as well. My original char on chilastra was planned to be DE/Rifleman. But this was my first MMO game, and I made a lot of newbie mistakes that first weekend.
Well, at one point, chilly was down so I made a char on another server. Started out novice entertainer. Found it to be pretty fun, so when chilly was back up... I scrapped DE, for the time being, and rerolled char into Musician/Rifleman.
Odoro
My original plan was to become a master dancer and master fencer. When I got my 2nd account I planned for a doctor so that she could buff my fencer. Tho after getting Master Entertainer, I just more or less kept going on with musician. Untill a few daysago I had to drop the last bit of fencer to be able to continue climbing up in musician.
Somehow doing these missions over and over got really really boring, and I felt I had more fun hanging out with my friends and play some funky tunes and talk about nothing and everything. I had so much fun I totaly forgot about my harvesters and housing on the other server I played. Luckiy I was able to saved most, only one deep crust chem was lost, but I would do it again in a heartbeat, because I had so much fun.
I like it too. I started my guy as a musician for a buffbot. He's 1 box short of master (should go tonight) and i've enjoyed playing him ATK some of the time. I want to get him more active as a musician in the future, maybe join a band part-time and learn how to make the music sound more interesting.
Wonders never cease.
But I was getting tired of dancing in silence, so I started playing music. Picked up master entertainer and stayed there for awhile while I tried other professions. Meanwhile, I kept getting more and more musician xp from slinging the mandoviol. Eventually I gave in and dropped the other professions to master musician.
It was a very hard decision to leave musician. I've got another char now just so I can become a musician again.
When I started back in July, I made me a Wookiee. Dreams of tearing folks arms off and such, were runnin rampant in my mind. On my second day of playing, I was told I had to go to the cantina and check out the entertainers to heal my freshly won Mind Wounds and Battle Fatigue. I even remember what was playing when I first hit /listen on the silly lil Mon Cal on the Omni-Box. It was Ballad. I feel in love. I ran outside and got novice entertainer and went back in to get started. for 2 months I bounced from Theed to Moenia, playing with some of the greatest entertainers of the day. I got every point of experience while sittin at my keyboard (except for the rare occasion I'ld fall asleep at the helm). Not long after I hit MM, Kauri got hit with the first big wave of what would later become the attack of the AFK Holo-grinders. I soldiered on for another 2 months, trying and failing to find a niche. I grew discouraged and decided to try a new direction. Unable to give up the music I loved so much, I went to a different server and made a new char. I still went back to Kauri once or twice a month, but without that wonderful feeling of interaction with live bandmembers and audiences, I always left feeling disheartened.
A month ago, that all changed. On a whim, I followed a RL friend to Chilastra. He had brought up a MM/MD, and spoke of nightly jam sessions, and a very happenin RP scene. Boy was he right. I started my second entertainer on Chilastra. And Ive loved every minute of it, since. People seem to really get a kick out of a real live Wookiee, kickin it on the Nalargon, socialising with the audience, etc... Ive even taken to whistling the tunes as I go about my mundane life. Just like in the old days. As long as folks like you keep commin on board, and keepin things fresh, I may have finally found my niche, after all this time.
Guess what this long winded schpeel is all about, is thanks. Thanks for the music, and thanks to the musicians in this forum, for keepin the faith, when some of us temporarily lose it.

Y'know, at its core, this profession is quite fun. If you can find a live audience and live performers and hang out and socialize, you can experience the profession the way it largely was after launch.
