/Sarcasm on

I just want to give another shout out to all those devs for mixing up the trees for Musician skills.

/Sarcasm off

In their infinite wisdom, in changing up the trees they now have the crafting of instruments in the same box as playing the instrument. So now all a musician needs is some small stacks of ANY quality junk resources and a W/D/G tool and they can make any instrument they need whenever they want. They could have gone 1 set further and eliminated one of the skill listings, but no...that would be too easy. What this means is that I now have almost NO source of income. I had a little when I was sellign instruments....not a ton, maybe 50K a week, but enough to live and bank some. This week I have sold 1 (ONE!) instrument.

I was upset that the skill for making Mando and Nal moved into the master boxes.

I was PISSED that they removed quality as a factor for I felt it was a good direction to EXPAND not remove.

I am going to be upset, pissed and now POOR because I will no longer have any decent sales.

If quality were to matter, I have a good stock of 1000OQ materials to make perfect instruments. If Experimentation were to matter, I still have my +25 instrument assembly suit. If customization were to matter then as a master I would be able to make more interesting versions of instruments.

Alas, none of these things do.

Yeah, that sucks pretty bad, man.

I'm really sorry things ended up the way they did.

I guess I just hope that moving the instruments and stuff around means that someday instrument/song will have some bearing on what we do.

Not much else I can say but....yeah, that sucks.

It just seems that the Devs have made the game such that you always need to group to fight effectively, you need cross profession crafting to make many things, you need support from medics and chefs.....

...and then there's entertainers.

We used to need doctor buffs or food or an occasional heal...
We used to need a higher level musician to make our instruments...
We used to need other people listen to us to get healing XP and level...
We used to be able to get a 20 person group to get the best XP...

I guess we should be happy to still exist.

I've said it before. I'll say it again.

If you're a musician for anything other than wanting to play music, then you're just going to despise the class even more. If you really love the class, make due with what you've got. Otherwise, drop the skill and do something you feel is worth your time.

I do not contest that, and never have.

I just feel that ALL players of the game should get content that is balanced and ALL classes should have a role in the greater game.

so....

If all you love is combat and killing stuff then play a game that is worth your time and let the devs make this game what it is supposed to be....a mmoRPG.

I believe that we have the power to make this game what we want it to be.

To me, this is and MMORPG. My character has made a substantial living off of performing in player run casinos with bands. I have not done it through the idea of buffs. It has been all about how much I can entertain in a roleplay sense rather than what I can attain by 'buffing'.

True, but this isnt the issue.

I pay the same subs fee as any other profession-playing person. I am not a second class citizen, but I am being treated as one.

If you wish to accept the mantle of whipping-boy then be my guest, but I for one will not.

Should we not recieve the same amount of development time as any other profession? Yes, we should!

Are we recieving the amount of customer-care and development-time we are paying for and deserve? Not on your nelly!

Oh I won't argue that Musicians, along with a myriad of other classes are just not getting the attention they deserve. Albeit to increase or decrease the class effectiveness because let's face it. We're not the only ones who are currently getting jacked.

Rangers?

Squad Leaders?

I rarely see the two classes. They're screaming for some attention too. Those are just off the top of my head. I know a number of combat classes need tweaks so they're not overpowered... the whole Jedi fiasco needs to be tamed WAY down.

What you need to face and understand is... the majority of the player base plays combat classes. The combat classes are boned... and not in the same way Musicians are. Because the majority of the players do combat classes, those get most of the attention first. It's the nature of marketting.

Is it right? No.

So you can do one of two things.

1. Complain, gripe and moan... hoping you'll be heard... which I assure you, in the typical fashion of player complaining.. you won't.

2. Accept the class for what it is, currently, offer constructive (much like a post earlier regarding Gladiator class) suggestions and see where it goes.

Of course there is the third option...

Quit.

Musicians need love. Dancers and Image Designers too. The Dev team knows this. They've admitted to it and say they're working on it. It isn't coming as fast as we want.... but at least it is coming. So until it does... I'm makin' due.

The rangers and Squad Leaders are happy enough because they see what is happening to the Smugglers and Entertainers and don't mind being left alone until their time comes. This new "revamp by a thousand cuts" strategy is no good. Do it all at once, and do it right, and everyone would be a lot happier.

Somehow I doubt they're happy to wait their turn. By that logic, Musicians ought to be enthralled that we're even getting paid attention to.

As for the 'Do it all at once' thing...

The last thing they 'Did all at once' was the Combat Upgrade. You're telling me that was a good thing?

I'll take the bits and pieces for now. At least if they release a section and it's all wonky, they can fix it, instead of diving through god knows how much code to fix one minor (or major) indescrepancy.

My instrument sales do not seem to have been affected a whole lot by publish 20... Since the CU hit I have sold 75 Fizz (I know because I created a factory run of 100 right before it hit and I just emptied my 3rd crate of them yesterday)

I admit I did get a kinda satisfied feeling from getting the quality up as high as I could on my instruments and did search quite hard to get good resources for them, just for my own pride.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the schematic for the Nalargon was always in MM? I am in the same business as Fragpuppie - selling instruments. I'm bothered by this change a bit - whatever happened to interdependence - but not as much as by my inability to make most of the props, since I am ME/MM with no Dancer.

What really bothers me about the props (at least the ones in Entertainer) is that there is no reason not to use the cheapest materials around, and no experimentation at all. I've always used really high quality material in my instruments. One, because it's fun finding the resournces, and two, because even if no-one else could see how good my instruments were, I though one day the devs might do something about it, and make my instruments sound better than the ones made with crap. Well, the devs did something, and yet again, it was everything we didn't want.
