Thread: Instrument Prices
Hi everyone! I am curious what you all charge for instruments, particularly the ones you put up on the bazzar. I sampled some wood and metal this morning and made a bunch of lower end instruments (figure there are a lot more musicians in that area still), up to kloo horns. I was basing my prices off of what seems to be the going rate for resources (10c per unit), and then adding what I considered a fair cut for leaving the band, sampling, and crafting.
Slitherhorns were hard to price because there seemed to be several for around 250c, which is nearly half of what the resources would cost to make one (heck, I'd make more money selling the resources). I priced mine similarly so they would sell, but may not make many more of those unless asked. I think putting my brand name on them will help too since I know just about the entire population of Coronet by now lol.
Made some fizzes as well. I think I priced those around 750c.
Fanfars I priced at 1000, and Kloos I think 1500. I was the only one selling anything above a slither in my region so I thought that was fair. You'd pay more than that on transportation alone to go to Tatooine to buy one I figured.
So how about it, I don't want to gouge anyone, but I don't wanna sample forever and make 100 credits! lol What does everyone else charge for instruments? ![]()
I just used a simple scaling:
300 for Fizzz (and stopped making these once I hit Novice Musician)
600 for Fanfar
1200 for Kloo
and at those prices I found plenty of people willing to buy. Spending 1-2k on a good instrument isn't unreasonable, since they never wear out.
Most of the instruments I see above that (Mandoviol, Traz, Bandfill, Chanwhatever Horn, Ommni, Nalargon) run in the 1.5-2k range on Radiant
depends on the server, and the market in which you are in. A fanfar I sold at 650 moved fast. Kloos at 700 are still sitting there (they might have sold today.)
It's really based on what the market will pay for them. You have to remember that a good deal will give instruments away for free. Also, it doesn't look like our instruments decay, and they don't have any special properties (so materials, experimentation doesn't mean jack for us. Heck, I don't even know if you can experiment on them!)
I made about 12 slitherhorns one day as a young musician while I was practicing surveying. Since I surveyed the materials myself, I was able to put them on the market for cheap, maybe 100c each. I sold most of them within a day, and all of them within 2 days. I could have easily have sold them for more, I didn't realize how many people tookentertainment for fun. Don't forget, people who take music as a hobby or second profession don't start with a slitherhorn.
I expect that most of the instrument business will remain at the lower end since some people will never progress out of the entertainment branch if they are doing it as a hobby.
Good prices. The instruments on Chilastra go for a little more. I bought my Mando for 2500.... Fanfar I spent 2000.... Fizz I think I spent 1000. I haven't boughta Kloo yet.
Anyway, sounds like good prices to me.
but then so can many people I expect.
Give a tell in game if you still don't have one.
Holy cow..I am either under charging, or you folks are overcharging. I feel bad selling instruments for as much as I do
I take a look at how much money dedicated musicians bring in, how much I bring in, how much time it takes me to hand sample. and try to make the prices match what people can afford looking at training.
I also usually provide someone with their first instrument from me at a substancial discount, or for free.. depending on how the musician acts and interacts
Here are what I sell mine for on the bazaar
Nalargon 2000
OmniBox 1750
Chidinkalu 1500
Bandfill 1250
Trazz 1000
Mandoviol 750
I usually leave the lower tier instruments for the up and coming musicians to make, so that can get a little money, but I sold them as follows
Kloo 800 (350 at first)
Fanfar 600 (300 at first)
Fizzz 90
Slitherhorn 30

uberyoda, Kai is Kaishi Quickshot. He's supplied me with several instruments and also several skill boxes.
If I had some metal, I'd make you a fanfar. Send me a tell or in-game emaillater on, and I'll see if I can hook you up.
Speaking of instruments...What skill do you have to gain to play the Mandoviol?
Dagny
Heya Dagny, Mandoviol is in Master Entertainer. Hence my recent fumbling attempts at Dancing.
Martyn I wish I could find a Mandoviol or Traz for anywhere near your price on Gorath.
Heck I wish I could find one for sale at all. Those that I've been able to find in the Bazaar at hovering around 2200. And even if I wanted to spend that much (at this point I think I would) I can't because they are not on Instant Sale, they are on Auction. Five days left to go before the auction ends, but I've got the skill for Traz and only lack Dancing IV for the Mandoviol, I'd sure like to be able to buy now, even at 2K-ish.
If you are making these, one or both, on Gorath hear my plea and send me a /tell.

Naboo, Gorath.
Wow Martyn you are giving those instruments away... you could sell the materials for your instruments for more than that, do you realize that? ![]()
Just thought I'd post and say that at the prices I mentioned in the original post, I sold all my instruments within 2 days... and I had a bunch on there. There are a ton of musicians coming up the entertainer line right now - there were musicians coming to Coronet from I don't know where to buy my lower end instruments even, cuz there aren't many selling them.
