FROM THE NON-BETA FORUMS
[front page] Two new characters species will be introduced in Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed. First to be revealed, the Ithorian.
DEVs, have the devs considered the thought of Ithorian Musicians? How will Ithorian Musicians be handled graphically? Will they be able to play a slitherhorn and a traz at the same time from their two mouths? If not, which mouth will they play from? How will they hold the instrument since their mouths are on the side of their neck?
Please get this checked on.
thanks

This is a serious issue, IMHO... I think I brought this up early enough to have deserved a response by now...
thanks
The animations for the Ithorians will not change currently, though in the future, we've discussion giving them a special instrument that has a stethoscope sort of mouthpiece. They would hold the instrument in the same fashion as everyone else, but the mouthpiece would split and wrap around to both mouths.
I am not happy about the outcome, but I am greatful for the response.

Thats a good question Bob for the main reason that even right now rodians play the slitherhorn out of what I guess to be thier nose. Doesn't touch thier mouth heh.

Yes, a very good question I am a MonCal Musician and I seem to play the Slitherhorn from my gullet most of the time. A still to be envied to be sure.

Well my character is a human, and I've noticed that we play instruments by blowing towards them at a range of about 4 to 6inches. We too have the problem that our instruments don't come anywhere near our mouths. Since I assume that the developers are also human, I don't hold much hope of them placing instrument mouthpieces close to alien mouths if they can't even get it right for their fellow humans.

I doubt the developers are very concerned with this. The Ithorians will most likely play the instruments with a non existant mouth in the middle of their heads.

Sad, yet, you're probably right. Unless they're devoting some art resources to animating a new way of holding instruments for one race only. Also, they would have to redo all the flourishes from a horn starting position to the left or right of the head.

Right...or they will have to make special Ithorian Chi Horns and such with two mouth pieces.

I think they should add Ithorian only insturments, think of it to be in the lines of The Wookiee bowcaster except easy to make and easy to find

Well, all I can report for now is that the devs are aware of this issue. I'll post more if I learn more. It's certainly something we should look for in JTL beta, if any of us are in beta.
