I am all for the removal of buffbots. It's really hard for my entertainer to make some $$$ when competing with free buffbots. But what happens atnight when all the live entertainers have gone to bed and some latenight adventurers need a buff? I play atnight on a regular basis and I've been happy to find a buffbot so I can take my pistoleer out.

When entertaining is seen as something of worth, and something one can be respected and useful in, there will be players like yourself who play late at night that will play entertainers. It'll be, fancy this, a profession that's actually appealing for player interdependence!

What if you need doctor buffs late at night? You have to find a doctor! Why is this any different? - except that there are more doctors. There would be more entertainers playing if they did not have to compete with buff bots.

Ok FLAMES ON you all are so pissed about buffbots, thats not the real issue the real issue is where were the entertainers when the combatants needed one no where to be found thats where or too busy in their xp grind or group chat to buff ppl that needed it. I am an entertainer, so stop that thought of damn combats coming into our forum. STOP WHINING ABOUT A PROBLEM YOU CREATED FOR YOURSELVES!!!! And for pete's sake stop greifing ppl in game it shows a complete lack of self control and your own unwillingness to bring the ppl back to the live ents. All you have to be is personable, but I have a real good idea here that the ppl whining the most in this thread are the ones that just sit back and only talk with ppl they know or feel comfortable with.

- I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.

Whoa-k.
Talk a breath, calm down, and read the responses in this thread. Neither was flamey, neither was whiney. My own post suggested that if the entertainer profession showed more usefulness to the average newbie, more new people would take it up (I originally picked it up to be useful to the group of players I was playing with). N'Jessi's post suggested that the same issue could exist for other professions, but just that there are more of the other professions than there are entertainers, overall.
For a topic that's been beat to death, I think these responses were more than civil.
Maybe you're reading something into it that I'm not?

I thought Aleyo and N'jessi gave responses that were right on the mark.

Uh hey, if you're gonna flame, maybe you shouldn't use the same flame in multiple threads. Better yet, don't flame at all. Scip was right that this flame seemed out of context - indeed it was originally a response to an entirely different thread.

A little story that might be completely off topicor could be completely relevant.

One nightin a busycantina two combat profession characters walked in and asked for buffs. The response was dead silence, every liveentertainer in the cantina suddenlywas pretending to be afk. The two combat characters didn't leave but continued to ask for buffsuntil one of them complained "I can't believe we can't get a buff with all these dancers around." A patron (non-entertainer) spoke up with the following response, "That's because you're bothscum and they all know it."

I find it strange that my combat characters have no trouble at all finding live entertainers. I'm not a chatty social butterfly and so farI haven't said much to the entertainersbesides'hello' and 'you're welcome'. Also, I find that the majority of combat characters are nice to me when I play my entertainer character; some aren't and I just don't deal with them

How can you find me?

I wear my Master Musician title (Ihide my titleif I'm not performing)

I can be found by doing a search (I make my character annonymous if I'm not performing).

I register at the cantinas I'm in (I'm normallynot in Theed or Coronet)

When I am in Theed or Coronet I will usually be ungrouped and dancing (I'm a Master Dancer as well)in the back of the cantina. Send a polite tell asking me if I'm buffing and I'll respond with either "Yes" or "No, but so and so is."

If I'm going about my business in a city with my Master title up I am available to perform at the local cantina if no one else is. I will respond to a polite tell asking me if I can go to the cantina.

If you are playing your combat character atan odd hourfind out which entertainers are on at that time (we don't all have the same bedtime). Learn which entertainers are dependable and good at what they doand become one of their regular customers.

Wow, all I'm doing is looking at both sides of the issue that's all. I just think the buffbot situation should be looked at from all sides, that's all. It's not a gripe or complaint.

This thread was civil and productive until you posted. I don't understand why you had such a freak out, but I'd worry more about the way you post, rather than cursing and going on about others. Nobody was out of line except you.

Thanks for your "contribution."

My suggestion to you is this:

Drink Vaserian brandy. Eat Vagnerian Canapes or Ahrisa.

Food and Drink will be yourbest substitute in the future for Entertainer buffs, and is available 24 hours a day, on demand. When Entertainers get fixed to not be botted, Food and Drink during off-hours will be a great substitute.

Brandy that's pretty good will be about +400 to Mind, Focus and Willpower for about 1/2 hour at least. Get 50 filling or less, take two. That's +800 to all Mind stats for awhile. Have your stats migrated to maximize your Mind levels - don't worry so much about Health and Action, those will be buffed to the gills by the (usually) present Doctors available.

Consider getting 4/0/0/0 Teras Kasi Artist to get Meditate and Powerboost. Powerboost is a free little buff to all main stats for around 10 minutes, and can be redone whenever it runs out. Your Mind will be fine without Powerboost, but it does help, and it's FREE - everybody loves free and does what they can for free stuff in this game. That's why buffbots flourish. No cost, and you don't feel bad about stiffing a robot for services rendered.

Canapes boost Focus/Willpower for fast Mind healing. They last 10 minutes, and are usually 33 filling for about +600 to the substats. Take 3 canapes, lasts 10 minutes, and you get +1800 to mind substats. Bam, instant major Music buff. Tell me the last time you got a Musician buff that was +1800. If you want longer duration on substats, consider Ahrisa for a Focus boost that lasts 40 minutes or so. This reduces Mind COSTS dramatically for special moves, and can be mixed with canape to get some nice substats. Consider taking Canape only when you need it, in a pinch. Otherwise, try going without Foods - you might be surprised how you'll last with just some Brandy in you, and Food for a last resort.

Substituting Food and Drink for Mind buffs might seem like an expensive alternative, but when you break it down per use, it's really economical. In the end, it's better than getting too bent out of shape for not finding an Entertainer. Keep an eye on your stomach contents (take more Brandy as soon as you can, for awhile you'll be able to slip in 3 brandies at once for +1200 or so to all Mind stats.
