I used to be a buffbot....even worse. But today I think I have fully paid for my crimes, I say a group of VERY noobish entertainers who were still trying to figure out what the hell a flourish was. We grouped and I began to educate them about how to be an entertainer. Then I obviously got on to (AFK) and succesfully trained them all to look down on AFKers and Buff-Bots. It seems I arrived within the 2 hours and trained them appropriately.

Lilo, thank you for doing this distasteful project. It is no wonder that everyone uses buff-bots.

Really. I did.
Most of you know I'm not fond of buffbots. No matter which character/server I'm playing, I /addignore all buffbots and if my mood is right (it usually is) I'll /addignore everyone I see visiting the buffbot. Incidentally, everyone on my ignore list also makes it to the ban list on my structures--between the two, I do my part in cutting off sales and services to buffbots and their supporters. So what could cause me of all people to use a buffbot?
The story:
I created amarksman on one of the galaxies and decided (against my newbie droid's best advice) to go out and hunt scyks. The people at the Mos Entha cloning center got to know me quite well. With full wounds to all my stats, and 1000 BF, I checked my timer. I'd been playing for an hour now.
I went to a med center, learned Novice Medic (lets call him Jed), and used /tendwound to heal my health and action--unfortunately I didn't have enough mind left (1/1) to do any good at all. I asked a passing Combat Medic what was wrong and he told me the problem was I had too many mind wounds and I'd have to go see an entertainer. Noticing my newbie clothes and CDEF, he asked how long I'd been playing, to which I replied, "not long."
At this point Jed told me that he'd show me where to find an Entertainer and that after my BF was taken care of he'd heal and buff me.
He took me to his player city where we found a cantina--"Happenin' Hellen's Strip House" or some such thing. The proprietor, "Happenin' Hellen" happened to be there, at least the shell of her was there. She had blond hair, giant breasts, and a rail-thin, but muscular body. She was also wearing the most godawful array of clothes ever. Jed told me to watch her and to invite her to my group. I invited Jed first, then Hellen, and (surprise surprise) she joined.
"Hi, Hellen!" I said in groupchat. "Thanks for joining my group!
"LOL She's not there," Jed "surprised" me.
I feigned ignorance. "What do you mean?"
"She has a macro that lets her join groups so she can buff them."
"OH!"
The conversation waxed on and I asked my entire repertoire of newbie questions while he healed me. I alsoinquired how long he'd been playing.
"Nottoo long. I started abouttwo months ago."
I expressed my amazement at the massive list of professions and other badges he had hanging in his /examine window.
"Heh. Yeah. I play a lot."
"When did you learn about this trick," I asked, referring tothebot.
He replied that he had learned how to use buffbots on his first day in Galaxies.
When the buffbot announced that it had finished both the music and the dancebuffs, I asked Jed how much I should tip it.
"Don't." He /slapped and /punched Hellen.
"Why not? Doesn't she need to make a living?"
"Nah, she's just some combat guy's alt. She don't need anything."
"OH."
"I mean I usually tip a bit, but you don't have to--it's not like she spent any effort on this."
After a little more conversation, and him offering me advice on how to avoid racking up such bad wounds in the future, we went our seperate ways. I checked my timer again. 1 1/2 hours.
SO...
The timing on when newbies learn how to use buffbots:less thantwohours.
Less than two hours, people. That's how long we have tofind and educate newbies on the proper treatment of Entertainers. After that, they've been trained to use the buffbot and told that the Entertainment skills aren't to be respected or necesarily even paid for.
(And please forgive me for using a buffbot.)

Hi, my name is Carpathia and I used a buffbot
On wanderhome, my first real day of grinding, i was poor and in depserate need of a mindbuff (i'd like to kill more n a vrelt without waiting 5 minutes for my mind to heal up... personal prefrence). Going to cnet, my choices were drewpa and nothing else. With NO atk entertainers (bestine's cantina also had a single buffbot and literally no one else in there), i was forced to use a buffbot. To make up for it, i kicked eveyone out except one person and made the bot the leader before leaving. Maybe we really are as hard to find as the combatants say we are.

we are hard to find...because of the buff-bots...it's story time again
I walk into the cantina and put up my (Master Musician) tag just to see how many people I could draw away from the buffbot. Quite a few came over to me and I was astonished until they began to talk to me. First thing was "u buffin?" I replied "i can.." next thing i know the guy sends me an invite. I told him about /setperf and he told me all his friends needed buffed too. I would gladly buff them. All of a sudden I am surrounded by comp armor clones. I then get a tell from the leader asking me when my session began. I sighed and told him that you only have to wait for sessions when you using a buff bot. His reply "Yep, all i know is buff-bots " ...I proceeded to explain how buffs work when done with a live entertainer and all I got was "shut up" and "stop whining" ....When they and their horrid leet speak left (thank god they didnt leet speak to me) i was alone with no tips and hardly an enjoyable experience. I found a quiet corner and logged....

You see, thats why you need to insult the buffbot while your buffing. Shout phrases such as "The next buffing session will begin... never! I can buff you when ever you need it!" or "Why go to the drone and wait for 10 mintes to get into a group, i'm live and available 100% of the time!"

I get more sass from leveling bots and AFK FS grinders than anything else. They get really ticked when you don't want to group with their 'droid self and help them level. I even had a couple the other night start in cussing and sending tells, I put them on ignore and one of them starts using their EQ2 account to continue their idiocy. You can /addignore those too. 
The combatants are rarely if ever rude and even those coming in and shouting 'buff plz' or 'group plz' often tone it down when I respond with polite questions and answers. I guess I'm lucky on Corbantis but the problem isn't as widespread. There have been a few times that a bot has shown up at Theed but I've never seen one stay more than a day or two. I still get all my regulars and quite a few new people even with the bot there. My best day was the one when the bots macro broke and they wouldn't group.
One thing that we so often don't do is be regularly available. I've seen people come in and ask for buffs to get no response when I know there are 3 ATK master dancers in the group. I know we don't all want to do it all the time but if you want some respect you have to give it back and to me that means providing the service our class is meant to provide. I have started doing some dance and will stop my dance for experience to do a buff anytime I'm asked. Yes its annoying sometimes but then again its far less annoying than going out and doing fedex artisan runs and pays better as well. Two things I see work well over and over, try to be in the same place around the same time as often as possible, and don't push your views on the other players. I'll push my views on the AFK FS grinders with glee but I won't get into a debate with someone who is just looking for buffs so they can play their ATK game however different it is from mine.

As part of this buff bot terrorising program i have been know to attend the cantina on Mining Outpost, I request an invite to the buffbot group and start playing my instrument.
Approximately 30 seconds into the 'auto buff' Iaccidentally (on purpose)key in the '/stop band' command lo and behold this seems to break the 'current buff cycle' somewhat.
/innocent self
Unfortunately I am a busy Twilek and I cannot stay all day in the Cantina stopping the Buff bots but it gives me a certain amount of satisfaction knowing that I am punishing the buff bot users on occasions!
A fellow entertainer Eloran (you may of heard of this being)lured a dark jedi into the cantina in the Mining Outpost last week which was hilarious 'THE WRATH OF THE ENTERTAINERS' He kept shouting,about 20 or so ppl got slain and the Lag was rife this is another victory for the entertainers!
The battle against the Buff bots and their users is going to be long and tough but fellow musicians/dancers we WILL win it is just a matter of time. Then we'll see those Buff bot users grovelling for forgiveness, begging for a buff. These thoughts keep me going through these dark days.

Ahh...I lovesignatures. I know you and see you pretty often on Chilastra. Welcome to my ignore list and have a 1 star to boot. And here's why:
There is a Master Musician/Doctor often in the MO Cantina. He runs a solo groupservice. He's not an AFK bot in the slightest. He's constantly inviting new group members to keep the group topped off. Prior to the mission payout nerf, I've seen himleave the cantina to track down and kick a person group members were complaining was following them to leech the mission rewards. He usually sends an invite to me the minute I walk into the cantina, despite knowing that I don't do solo mission groups anymore (inefficient). And I usually tip him 20k-25k for doc/secondary buffs. He's also the only person I've found doing this in any cantina.
He provides a service. A pretty damn good one and a very useful one. Organizing solo groups (for people doing them for the xp)andconstantly recruiting new members to replace people leaving the group and such is a valuable service above and beyond what the AFK bots offer. I asked him if others tip him for the service and they usually do. And what do you do? Being nothing more than a momentary nuisance in the buff bot's routinesand praising a friend that likely got him killed, definately got me killed as I landed on Dantooine to go to my house, unbuffed/unarmored and others that did nothing to deserve anything like that happening to them.
That Master Musician's groupsin the MO cantina are often filled and there are always tons of people running around outside trying to organize a group themselves so its not like there isn't room for more people doing something similiar. On Dathomir, nobody is doing anything like it to my knowledge on Chilastra. Instead of doing something useful and potentially drawing people away from using buff bots, you by your own words "terrorize" other people. Then prolly go to Theed or Mos Eisley Cantina and yak with your friends in groupchat thinking you did something useful.
WTG. I think I'll start tipping buff bots in the cantinas. Least they're not intentionally harassing other players in petulant fits.

Well, he deserves to be on an "ignore" list if he advertises that he does that. What gets me is not what he did, or that he said that he did it, its that there are other ways that are more effective and if he thought it through he could discover them. More effective or not, I do not advocate any of them. Personally I HATE buffbots and cannot wait until the macro changes go into effect, whatever changes they may be and whenever they happen. Until then I'll just ignore the bots, try to show people what a live entertainer can do and go on my merry way.
As to the Dark jedi being lured in.......it happens on many servers, and most often its NOT the entertainers who lure them in. Its often the same people whothink its funny when they steal the instrument your playing from the ground in front of you....again and again. Sometimes, its an actual "being chased by an aggro". It happens....even buffed and armored I'm no match for a dark jedi. I've learned to run.
If someone is AFK, being attacked is a chance they take. It may be a Dark Jedi who followed someone into MO or it may be a "live event" SBD attack on Coronet. I've seen both and the "live event" had more AFK carnage. Does that mean we need to /report the Devs for doing it and harrassing the AFKs?

Wow.... Im not even an entertainer and I came here for no reason and I cant believe what I just read.... People actually hate one of the most used things in the ENTIRE game? Amazing... I just cant believe it... blows my mind... wow... How can someone hate the only thing that keeps people buffed? If all autobuffers where gone lines for regular entertainers would be hours lond EVEN WITH 20 person groups and doctors lines would be unspeakably long without autobuffs..... Did I just read what I think I read?
Its as if I just traveled to a whole new planet of autobuff haters... Im very confused... Why exactly do you NOT like autobuffers?
