Okay, just to throw in another possibility for the weekly question. How about we ask the developers this:

"What is the official policy regarding players who prevent AFKbuffbots from working by inviting the buffbotand then spamming stopmusic?"

Wouldn't that kill two birds with one stone? I mean the developers' attitude towards buffbots isimplicit in the question. Plus, if the devs are against AFK activity, then surely we'll get the go-ahead to actively stop these things.

I already asked a CSR and he said it 'could be considered harrassment'

either way... it won't work... I already tried it

the buff bot can put you on their /addignore list and your invite to them won't go through

I did at least get on two buff bots nerves for most of one day

Yeah, but I guessthe CSRs aren't too bothered by buffbots harrassing us and actively preventing us from making money from our profession. One rule for the leets, and another for entertainers.

I've been meaning to put this on here:

My most recently revised question for our profession would be:

"There is a growing problem with AFK and buffbot Entertainers, so much so that an AFK Buffbot Entertainer received a badge for being "a tribute to their profession" recently (which makes our communities quite upset). A common reason for people having Entertainer alt characters who AFK and buffbot is that people "can never find an entertainer when they need one and it's more convenient." Player cantinas are often empty, necessitating a visit to a big city to find someone to heal you - which is inconvenient. Can the Dev team please look into creating a "Gig Manager" NPC for NPC city cantinas AND player cantinas. This "manager" would allow anyone in a cantina to put up an ad requesting that an entertainer visit the cantina they're in and entertain them. Entertainers could check the Gig Terminal and see who needs some entertaining. We have more details, but that's the basic idea. Can we get this looked into soon, please? When an AFK buffbot becomes "a tribute to their profession," then something is seriously wrong with SWG's social professions, and it's time get them back on track and more accessible to the player base. The players shouldn't have to come to us - make it easier for us to come to THEM."

Now - I know the answer will be "After JTL, we'll think about it, talk to NewJedi, blah blah blah." BUT i think this might kill 2 birds with one stone - we'll give 'em the jab for the AFK buffbot getting a badge, while providing them with an idea to help the problem itself (rather than just seeming like we're crabbing about the badge).

Thoughts?

My big question is "Why are we so restricted in WHERE we can buff?" Doctors can buff ANYWHERE, we are restricted to cantinas, camps, and PC buildings. Obviously, the devs doen't understand the concept of the strolling minstril.

My suggestions is, that we be allowed to buff anywhere in an urban area, or that we be permitted the construction ofa "bandstand," a specialized camp requiring resources like scout camps, erectable in an urban area.

OR, restrict doctors to only buffing in medical centers, camps, and player buildings.

Why are the devs so opposed to entertainers making some money? Doctors can sit outside, or inside, a spaceport, spam the world into lag, and make 10k for a minute's effort. We have to spend 4-7 minutes to make, if we are lucky, 5k, and have to call the buffee into the cantina.

Note, I am not even asking for the ability to heal battle fatique here, though that restriction ALSO makes no sense. Nor am I asking for "Buff Anywhere," as doctors enjoy now.

I'm just asking for an even playing field in opportunities to make a little money.

It makes perfect sense. Battle fatigue is a psychological wound. Itrequires that a person get out of the field and somewhere where he can trulywind down. A battlefield bandstand isn't going to achieve that. I realise that leets and powergamers simply don't want to leave the battlefield, but the reality is that you can't fight all the time. People who do tend to have severe psychological traumas. That's what this feature of the game represents. You might not appreciate it, but it is a lotmore realistic than staying in battle 24/7.

I have the growing sense from TH that we won't be continuing the Questions. Speaking only for myself, I think that's probably for the best. The top-five system gives the devs a better overall picture of what's ailing Musicians than any single question, and it's more efficient than asking questions piecemeal. I was starting to worry that our top-five lists were being buried by all the back-and-forth about questions.
